Anyone miss certain words with Voiceover english voices
Hi all, I was just simply wondering, regarding to whatever english voice you use with Voiceover are there at all times, where say your reading a piece of text from Safari and you miss hear the odd word hear and there. I'm sorry if that isn't descriptive or thought out more but to just to explain what I mean further. If, and I'm going to say it, used eloquence, I don't know why but that particular TTS have never gone wrong for me in the form of pronunciation. Where as in contrast, as much as I try to use Alex or any of the other male TTS voices that are available, I find now and then, that I'll miss a word or two when navigating around the web reviewing what I've written etc. Just wondered if I'm the only one. It is weird because I have my rate level set to 40% and I don't want to go down to 35% but with say Elequence, I could comfortably have that around the 45% mark and not miss a thing. So your thoughts are most welcome. Another possibility is that I'm also hearing in pared and wondered if this could have any baring on why I may miss certain words now and again. Its kind of frustrating at times which is why I wondered if it was just me. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Anyone miss certain words with Voiceover english voices
Hi, I know exactly what you mean. None of the voices are clear and reliable on pronunciation. For this, and other reasons, I'm currently trying Moira, the Irish voice, but if you need a male for hearing reasons, she is not an option. Have you tried Lee, Tom etc? Go to vo utility, speech, voices, and when you get to default voice, go in there and go to customise. In there, you can hear samples of every voice Apple have, to see if one works. Otherwise, if none of them do, you might want to try Infovox Ivox voices, though these are expensive. Hi, yes when i first had my i phome and my i pad i used Daniel and when i did typing a text i couldn't tell the difference between m and n so i was sending texts that didn't make sense, also i found with that voice it was missing of bits of words while on safari, that's why i use Karen voice instead, Sarah. I find these quirks in Voiceover amusing. On my iPhone 5, VO will mangle certain last names in Contacts unless there happened to be other text following the last name. Quote of the nanosecond . . . Re: Anyone miss certain words with Voiceover english voices
Hi. Most of the time i use the voices from infovox. I use heather and the danish voices. They are not really expensive anymore, you can buy them for a reasonable price. You will not have to pay upgrades all the time, mine is very old, and they have been upgraded a lot of times. Re: External sound device.
Hi. This is an interesting thread. Now I ask a silly question. I have an external soundcard, this is the firewire mbox from avid, it is a very good sounding device, but rather inaccessible, so I will not recommend it. I have tried with some cheap devices, but I found the internal soundcard in the mac better or at least as good as these external sound cards. I do not say, that I do not recommend them, but are there any real difference. I can hear a difference on my inaccessible mbox, but what are your experiences here. Best regards Annie. Re: External sound device.
I do not use Asus at the moment, but have been near a push at the buy button because they have headphone amplifier with volume control and audio/mic input i.e. analog audio input. In my case this make a difference. Others want an external cheap usb sound card as a backup if the internal sound mutes. Then they have a usb option. Other need better sound, but to get better sound you may need to pay more. Don't expect the software to be Voice Over accessible. You can try and return if you do not damage the packaging to much. Take care 18. juli 2014 kl. 17:37 skrev Annie Skov Nielsen : Hi. KEY Chain for the Mac past Issues.
Hello. In the last two days I have had to do a clean install of my Mac again even though I did it last week. What happened was that I shut my Mac down at the beginning of this week as I went away and didn't want anyone to get hold of the information in case there was a break-in. So I had passworded all the information. On Thursday of this week, I got back and restarted the Mac. I was prompted for my pass word which I put in. I was then asked for the keychain password as I had approved it from my I phone when I originally put it in. So the Mac did not like it. So when I finally got to the finder as I had reset my keychain, I was continually asked for my key chain and thus I had to re-install twice because the first time the information had not deleted properly. So my problem is, if I have an issue that I am asked for a keychain again as I have approved it from my I phone, I may have the same problem again. I don't like giving the keychain a passcode because I'm texted a very complicated password to unlock it. There is no option in the Mac key chain to get your device approved from another device when your Mac is asking for its keychain. So what do people do on this list if they are asked for their Mac keychain when they switch their Macs on if they want to approve it from their I phone as I can see no option? Sorry about a long message but this was the only way to explain. At least I have had practice doing a Clean install, perhaps a silver lining!
