Re: Switching From Gmail to iCloud

2014-02-16 Thread Alex Hall
I tried making a filter on the website once, and it was fully accessible. Also,
making filters on the website instead of rules on the Mac means that all those
filters apply to all your devices. So, your iPhone will put certain mail into
certain folders just like your mac, or the iCloud site, or Outlook, or anything
that uses you iCloud account.

Problem with creating filters on the iCloud site.

2014-02-16 Thread matthew Dyer
Hi all.

I am having a problem with filters on the iCloud site. I went to the site and
selected mail. Then went to the option to create a rool. after entering the
email address and selecting the folder I wanted there was a couple of done
buttons. one was dim, but the other was not. I clicked the first one and it
not only took me out of the tools but I also could not get back to it and
after refreshing the page I was able to get back to it but had discovered that
my rool had not been saved. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

It is a bit time sensitive as I will have my computer help here working on

Mail setting

2014-02-16 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all,

Not sure what happened as I haven't changed any settings. In mac mail classic
view in Mavericks the first column is status and two days ago it would tell me
unread, replied, etc. Now that is gone. I know it is an image that tells you
that, but it stopped telling me what was unread. Any idea where this setting
might be located? I have looked at mail preferences, Vo verbosity, and a few
other settings where it might apply but can't seem to find what has stopped it
being read to me. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks,

Re: Accessible PDF Files & MACBook PRO

2014-02-16 Thread Jenine Stanley
Yes, it is.
I've even filled out PDF forms on line using an MBP and VoiceOver so much more
easily than using the Windows equivalent.

If the PDF is created using accessibility features then Preview, PDF Reader Pro
and I'm sure a few other apps, can read and interact with it quite well. The
tough part is getting people to create PDFs in accessible formats.

garage band key reference

2014-02-16 Thread Littlefield, Tyler

maHello:
I was curious if anything had a link to something like this. I found it
somewhere a few months ago and can't find it again. Mainly: I'd like to
record certain elements of a song and then stretch them to repeat,
record more etc (so I can do the melody, the chorus and the melody). I'd
also like to be able to select certain parts of a track (perhaps
individual notes if possible) to edit those (increase their time). For
example, I want to do a few highhat rolls, and I need to be able to make
them 1/32 or 1/64 etc.

Any references would be awesome.
Thanks,

Hi Jeanine,
Clamsav is good. Virus barrier is also good. both of these are in the mac app
store.
I think there are a couple more that people use that ren't in in the mac app
store, but the names of those escape me at the moment!
I use clamsav and it's totally accessible.

On another note, cocktail is great for maintenance.

SiriusXM Radio online 30-day Free Trial as Of Today, 02/16/2014

2014-02-16 Thread Teresa Cochran
Hi, all,

Forgive the cross-post, but I thought this would apply to both lists.

I don't know how long this will be in effect, but SiriusXM is offering a 30-day
free trial for new subscribers. You have to provide credit-card info, but you
can call to cancel before the trial ends. I believe this offer is only
available in the US. I started mine two days ago, and I'm having fun with it.
There's olympic coverage of full US men's hockey, women's medal games, sports
talk, sports play-by-play, and lots of music channels. The IOS app is
completely accessible, but the computer app is not accessible at all.

here's the direct link:

Have fun,
Teresa

Re: Installing Bootcamp On MBA: Any Tips For Success

2014-02-16 Thread Kayaker
Hi,

Yes. Find me on zello.

But you need to assign a part of your precious internal SSD to be dedicated to
Windows. There is no getting around this to my knowledge. You can certainly use
your thumb drive as extra storage, but windows needs it's own partition on your
internal drive.

As for the CD ROM, it shouldn't matter. Do connect the drive prior to the
process, but no need to pre install the windows cd into it. And yes, you will
need sighted assistance to install windows via bootcamp. Don't trust the
podcast and counting key presses. You don't want to mess around with this.

Hi there
Well, and I know there may be some disagreement about this, but I like PDFpen

get preview to work as well for editing. I've got to work just fine for reading

program for mac for typing in braille

What is a good braille translation program for typing in braille and if

Will textedit work for this? If so, can someone please tell me how?

Re: need an iphone help

2014-02-16 Thread Erik Heil
Hello,
The area of the app store that you want is the area that describes the
software made by Apple. I don't believe that the original plan was to make
the applications available for free to all users, but apparently, this has
changed. On my iPad 4th Generation, the apps were free. I can't speak for
Garrage Band, as I actually purchased this application. However, Numbers,
as well as iMovie, etc. were indeed free for me to download.

RE: program for mac for typing in braille

2014-02-16 Thread David Tanner
The free (demo) version adds characters in the output document. Of course
you probably don't mind so long as it is just for personal use, but you
would not want to give it to someone else.

The Fellowship Of The Ring audiobook. Is this a duplicate?

2014-02-16 Thread Daniel McGee
Hello all, I am thinking of purchasing The Lord Of The Rings trilogy by J.R.R
Tolkion. The unabridged version. For christmas I received an iTunes gift card
and and will be using that credit to go towards the purchase. However, I have a
question.
There are two books per each story and that's fine but what I am confused about
is that for The Fellowship Of the Rings there appears to be two volumes of
volume 1 if that makes sense.
Also with this, I have noticed that one version is about 14 hours and 22
minutes. The other is, 19 hours and 8 minutes. Also, the publishing date is one
month apart from each other. This is why I am wondering could this possibly be
some sort of duplication going on here?
Obviously, I am hesitant to go and purchase one and for all I know, one may
need them both because I've looked at the reviews and some are saying there are
chapters that are skipped and some not in there rightful places in the book.
So as you can see, don't want to go and buy one and find I may need the other
even with iTunes credit added to by because even that would technically be a
waste of credit too if the book isn't in its rightful order too.

Just wondered if anyone here has brought the book on iTunes and what you think
about the double of volume 1 of the Fellowship?
The others in the trilogy appears to have two books each so there's no
doubleness going on here per a volume of a book if that makes sense with the
exception of the 1st volume of The Fellowship Of The Ring.

I hope that sort of clear.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Just to close in general, when one wants to buy an audiobook on iTunes I have
noticed there can be quite a few narations of a book and they also vary in
price.
For those audiobook lovers, who may buy regularly from iTunes what would you do
in this situation?

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks

Daniel

Re: trying to install fusion

2014-02-16 Thread Shannon Gerdts

Hello,
I actually never did try that. However, after a while and still having
it say fusion busy anytime we went to that window we decided to do a forced
quit on the application and reopen it. When we did this it suddenly brought
up the screen where we could start installing windows allowing us to
complete this task.
However, now I have a follow up question which I'm not sure how to do
just yet. Now that I have windows installed in fusion and I have narrator
up and running I'm trying to figure out how exactly I can copy say my jaws
installation from my dropbox on the mac OS to fusion so that I can install
it on windows there. Any idea how I go about doing this so that I can get
windows fully up and running with jaws and therefore allow my wife to fully
take advantage of having windows on her mac?

Take care,

Re: program for mac for typing in braille

2014-02-16 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I believe it is still in beta.

Cheryl

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
(Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV)

Re: need an iphone help

2014-02-16 Thread Pete Nalda
Garageband will *not* be free. Anyway, it's moot when considering the original
question. You will find a button along the bottom that has a magnifying glass,
and voiceover should call 'search". It also should be fine on an iPhone 4s. as
that model runs iOS 7 fine.
