Re: iTunes radio
iTunes Radio is not a subscription service. Instead it is free for all iTunes users, with ads being incorporated into the service. If you subscribe to iTunes Match, then the ads will be removed. To get started double tap on the radio tab in the iOS music app. According to a podcast done by Gw Micro to use iTunes Radio on the desktop version of iTunes, check the radio radio button. Yes it is really called radio. The internet radio is still there under the internet radio button. Thank you all! This definitely seems to work for pages and rtf documents. Do y’all know if there is a way to do it when working with preview? Re: getting to the top of a page or document
In Preview, you can use VO-shift-home and -end to get to the top and bottom of documents. you can also use it to go to the top and bottom of message lists in Mail. Interacting with text in Preview helps a lot. I use VO-arrows quite a bit, and I use VO-find when searching for specific text. My Braille Edge 40 and myApple devices
Hi Guys Somebody on this list said they had trouble with their Braille Edge 40, so I thought I would pass along the latest in my experiences. Poor Apple is just going to love this when they find out the latest because it makes my case a little more weird. The folks at HIMS kept insisting that the Braille Edge 40 would work with Mavericks. I wasn't sure I agreed, what with the trouble I had been having. I finally got the Bluetooth connection, which was my trouble to work, but in a strange fashion. I'll tell you guys about the iPhone in a minute because that's still a problem for me. To make the story short, when I chose to add the display, it still came up with Braille Edge 0011, which HIMS said was correct, although it sounds strange to me. Ok fine. When I chose to pair, it failed like always. Then it said Options, and when I chose it, then I got to type in the code. This time it worked, whereas before it didn't. The only difference is, and this may explain it, I had done a hard reset on the braille display today, which I had not done earlier. The weird thing is that I can't pair this display without it failing first, at least I can't figure out how. I have never had to let the pairing fail first before being asked for the code. The iPhone, however, is still a problem. It won't even search for the braille display, and I have restarted it and given it a hard reset as well by pressing the power key and the home key together and holding them down for a few seconds. So I still have a problem, but for now it's a little better, except the iPhone is worse. Re: My Braille Edge 40 and myApple devices
Hi, Gigi, I don’t have your Braille display model, but I had similar experiences with different aspects of a Focus display. It occurs to me that in my case, I needed a firmware update for the Braille display. Is this an option for you at all? If it is, it could be a solution. Re: My Braille Edge 40 and myApple devices
This issue came up for me when Freedom scientific folks weren’t familiar with apple and Apple folks weren’t familiar with FS drivers and firmware. My case got escalated all the way up to a software engineer, apparently. It took someone on the list to point out to me that there was a firmware update. I hope you’re able to resolve this one soonest. I have no clue what could be happening. Teresa "Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough."--Richard P. OT Great news: OS X 10.9.1 to focus on VoiceOver improvements, among other things. http://goo.gl/qkBRKh Great news: OS X 10.9.1 to focus on VoiceOver improvements, among other things
Apple asks developers to focus on Mail, Graphics in first Mavericks 10.9.1 beta Apple on Friday supplied its development community with the first beta of OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks, a forthcoming maintenance and security update for the Mac operating system, and has asked testers to focus their efforts on Mail, Graphics, and VoiceOver. People familiar with the first OS X 10.9.1 beta said it is identified as "build 13B27." The pre-release software is intended for testing purposes, and is not yet finalized for public release. OS X 10.9.1 will presumably mark the first update for Mavericks since it debuted on the Mac App Store for free in late October. All Mac users with compatible systems running Snow Leopard or above can upgrade to Mavericks at no cost. A minor update for Mavericks was issued last week to patch an issue with the native Mail app for Gmail users. It was issued via the Mac App Store. Mavericks, named after a Northern California surf spot, brings several new features to the OS X operating system, though Apple also paid considerable attention to enhancing performance and battery life with its latest major release. Stats published soon after the release of Mavericks found that public adoption was three times faster than that of Apple's $20 Mountain Lion upgrade from 2012. As Apple prepares its first maintenance update for Mavericks, the company is also working on its next major OS X release, version 10.10. Traffic data to AppleInsider published earlier this month revealed that testing of the unnamed future operating system has been growing steadily. Re: My Braille Edge 40 and myApple devices
Hi There, You’re not going to like this, but I can pair my braille edge 40 fine with my iPhone. It even held the pairing after IOS 7 update. I haven’t tried to pair it via bluetooth with my Mac, and probably won’t, but maybe there is something wrong with your unit’s bluetooth. It pairs flawlessly with me every time. It was purchased quite recently. When was yours purchased? Maybe they’ve changed something in the hardware or something. very weird. Sorry you’re having this trouble.
