Re: Cutting and Pasting in Finder

2013-07-23 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

Thats not necessary. Instead of cut, its called move in OS X. Press Command C
to copy the file/folder to the clipboard. Now, instead of pressing command V
to paste, press command option V to move.

i pal

2013-07-23 Thread Cait and Maggie
Hi,
does anybody here have any experiences with i pal to share?
considering it and the hover cam, but want input before making a final decision.
Before somebody suggests it, I've tried docuscan and for some stupid reason I
can't get it to work on my particular mac. Tech support at serotech can't
figure out why, they just say it's my machine. so, obviously that's not an
option.
thanks,
Cait

Re: [Maccessibility] Prizmo OCR App for iOS Enhances VoiceOver Support

2013-07-23 Thread Ray Foret jr
To spaek frankly, I am not impressed either. Text Detective doesn't get me
much better results either. The only conclution I can come to is that no
matter what I try, I'm just not aiming the camera lense quite right. Maybe
that scan box thingy might be a good idea, at least as a learning tool until I
get it straight.

Usually it doesn't do anything or just gives tones, and I'm not sure
what the tones mean. In most cases, it hasn't made the shutter sound

I have read people have gotten it to work so am hopeful there is just

Re: Using the say command

2013-07-23 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello,

Yes, it does have a default rate. Which can be over ridden by using the -r
flag. However, I get the following error, when using the most basic form:

say hello

MTBEAudioUnitSoundOutput::PropagateProperty Error -10851
MTBEAudioUnitSoundOutput::PropagateProperty Error -10851

Hence why I asked if the audio architecture could handle using VO and say at
the same time.

Thanks.

Re: Using the say command

2013-07-23 Thread Alex Hall
It certainly can, and I don't know why you'd be getting that error.
You might also try that command to run Applescript commands in the
terminal, I believe it's OSA. That way, you could pass that command
"tell VoiceOver to say "my text"" and VO should speak the text instead
of the default voice.

Re: Using the say command

Hello Alex,

I'm confused, I asked about using the say command as I want to pass a text
document to be converted into an audio file. One simple command should do it
according to the say man page. I know nothing about Apple Script. That's for
the dark winter evenings.

Thanks.

Oh, text conversion is something different. What command are you
using, and what output device? For instance, I'm wondering if the
application is choking on the use of a bluetooth headset or some kind
of redirecting program like Audio Hijack or Soundflower.

Re: Using the say command

2013-07-23 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Gena,

Why not use the Add to iTunes as a Spoken Track command? It's by far the
simplest way to do it.

Cheers,

Anne

Hi Brandt,

Assuming you are using a kwarty bluetooth keyboard and not a braille keyboard,
this should at least get you started.

Re: What is best way to join to mp3 files together please?

2013-07-23 Thread Chris Blouch
I think it will take most audio formats. I just wanted to show that you
could mix them. I do wonder if it has to decode mp3s to do the splice
and then re-encode them? If that is the case it might be better to use
the old mpgtx which is also available via port install.

If you don't mind playing around with terminal and MacPorts you can get the

sox audiofile1.mp3 audiofile2.wav output.aiff

Which would concatenate the first to files and store the output in the third
file. It also does lots of other manipulations such as changing the speed or
applying EQ. More info on sox can be found here:

Thanks for any ideas.

When you get the iPhone above what you're scanning, have you been double
tapping the screen, being very careful to hold it as level as possible
when it says it's detected the page? If it doesn't make that picture
taking sound, you haven't done the picture.

Re: Switching windows in Edit

2013-07-23 Thread Steve Holmes
Another way to do it is to press VO-F2 twice in succession to open the window
chooser. Here you will have a vertical list of all currently open windows in
that application. Then just arrow through the list to the one you want and then
hit Return or VO-Space to focus that one.

I often prefer this approach when there's a bunch of windows open and it seems
quicker to me.

Nice to have choices of ways to do something.
