Hi,

That worked like a charm. I just didn't notice that the volume slider was
available in that menu. I got it now.

Hi, ZoomX is a windows program running in x11.
To reach the menus, press the command key on it's own.
You can then use the arrow keys to navigate the internal windows style menu bar.

Hope this helps,

2013-03-12 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, managed to find most of them, but how do I manage to turn the light feature
on and off? When the guy demonstrating it used his laptop showed me how, the
"control+l," command toggled it on and off, and I can't remember if he said the
command or control key was supposed to do this with the mac, and I've tried
both, and neither of these seem to work.

Re: Mike Huckabay a ABBYY FineReader Express question.

2013-03-12 Thread Søren Jensen
Hi.

I'm not sure on what the issue is. I just choose my scanner driver in the popup
menu, choose convert to text and then the scanner drivers program starts. When
I've scanned one page using this program, I can either press finnish which will
transfer the scanned page into FineReader, or I can use the window chooser to
get back to FineReader to scan an other page.
Wehn I press finnish, it's being copied into FineReader and it automatically
comes up with the save dialog.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand what your issue is, unless your
system works differently. Can you explain your issue more clearly and what
you're doing?

Re: Mike Huckabay a ABBYY FineReader Express question.

2013-03-12 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Gigi,

As Søren said, to scan multiple pages with ABBYY FineReader you have to click
the Resume button then use the Window chooser to return to the scanner window
and scan again.

I find it annoyingly slow to do multiple pages this way, so I still use VueScan
for multipage scanning.

Cheers,

Anne

Hey all.
DropBox has released their new DropBox desktop app for the Mac. I have

When you VO space on the DropBox menu bar item, the DropBox menu does not open.
I'm not quite sure what is going on here, but I have a feeling I'll be
downgrading soon.
Hope this helps someone.

Choosing Video Language in VLC

2013-03-12 Thread Teresa Cochran
Hi, all,

Is there any way to choose the spoken language if available on a DVD? For that
matter, is the DVD menu accessible at all? My sighted husband succeeded in
changing the language once for a particular video, but I can't seem to do it.
I've tried the chapter submenu, but it doesn't show a language option.

Thanks,
Teresa

VLC on the mac

hello listers,

what is VLC
like with VO? how do you do things like fast forwarding and stuff like

Re: VLC on the mac

2013-03-12 Thread Nektarios Mallas
Hello Michael.
Vlc is very accessible with VO and a very useful program to have on your mac
even if you like iTunes.
To play a file: space bar or command p.
to pause: space bar.
to stop: command period.
fast forward: command + option + right arrow.
rewind: command + option + left arro.
change speed: command + equals for faster and command + dash for normal or
slower.
plenty more of shortcut keys but i can't remember them all right now.
If you need more help write back.

Nektarios.

Hi Teresa.
Try the following. Go to the menu bar, and under audio check the audio track
submenu.
This works for me on xvid or dvx movies with multiple audio tracks. I am not
sure about dvds.

Let us know.

The menus of this specific DVD, is not accessible at all.

If someone could please correct me on this? I would love to be wrong.

Re: Choosing Video Language in VLC

2013-03-12 Thread Teresa Cochran
Thanks, Nektarios. That did the trick. I haven't tried it on a DVD disc yet,
but this movie had a conventional menu for DVDs, so I'll assume it's similar.
I've never found the DVD menu itself to be accessible, but it seems that most
of the options can be accessed using the player menus.

Thanks,
Teresa

Re: Radium favorites

2013-03-12 Thread ROD SKENE
Hi Jürgen,
Sorry for not responding sooner. For me, arranging the favorites was very
difficult.
First, i arrowed to the station I wanted to move in the favorites. I pressed
command option control F5 to move the mouse pointer to the keyboard focus.
Then, I used the standard mark item for drag and drop, control option comma,
and I moved to the station where I wanted to move my selected station just
below it. Again, I pressed command option control F5 to move the mouse pointer
to the keyboard focus. Finally, I pressed control option shift period to drop
the selected item.
It doesn't work very often the way I like it, but it moves stations for sure.
Repeated tries eventually got the outcome I wanted. Sorry, I don't have a
better solution.
This is the only part of the app I struggle with.

2013-03-12 Thread Mike Arrigo
Here's something you might try and see if it works, drop box still
needs to fix this, but, once you get your voice over cursor to the
item, press vo+F5 to move the mouse to the item, then press
vo+shift+space to click the mouse, not sure if that will work but it's
worth a try.

Hey all.
DropBox has released their new DropBox desktop app for the Mac. I have
downloaded it, and found a rather not so good bug.

When you VO space on the DropBox menu bar item, the DropBox menu does not open.
I'm not quite sure what is going on here, but I have a feeling I'll be
downgrading soon.

Hope this helps someone.
Matthew Campbell.

There is also the included dvd player but I don't know how accessible that is.

Hi.
This does work, however you can't seem to be able to access DropBox's settings.
I submitted a support ticket to them, and I'm hoping for something not canned

Hi,

Unfortunately, there's no way to do that in YoruFukurou, the only thing you can
do if view your own followers and people you're following.
As far as the other clients for Windows, I believe since those were
specifically designed for the blind, unlike YoruFukurou, they added those
features in as perks.

2013-03-12 Thread Christine Grassman
It works reasonably well on my iPhone, but is supposed to work on one's
computer as well. However, it is a Flash site, and although I have recently
updated the player, all I am getting is "empty html". Is there a workaround?
Thanks for any information.
(I have written to them; no response.)

fast forward: command + option + right arrow.

change speed: command + equals for faster and command + dash for normal or

plenty more of shortcut keys but i can't remember them all right now.

Re: hbogo.com: Flash Site; Is There a Workaround?

2013-03-12 Thread Christopher Kchao
WHile I don't personally use the service, observation would have me guess that
the site directs the user to a different page where they can download the app,
when viewed from the phone. This is unless there's a mobile site, which is less
likely altogether. Feel free to correct me on any of this.
I'm getting the same empty HTML content on the Mac over here as well.

Re: hbogo.com: Flash Site; Is There a Workaround?

2013-03-12 Thread Mike Arrigo
Give this a try. Flash is not accessible on themac, hopefully these sites will
move away from flash and start using html 5, but inthe mean time, try this. Go
in to safari preferences, and choose the security item. Uncheck the option to
enable plug ins, then close the preferences window. Now try loading the page
and see if it works. This is how I keep safari set unless I need to watch a
flash video, since it's much faster.

Not much, but they are aware of the issues. I'm hoping we'll see a solution

bluetooth headsets

2013-03-12 Thread Phil Halton
I'm looking for a bluetooth headset, and I remember that in order to work well
with VoiceOver, they need to comply to some protocol, h2d or something like
that?

Any info on these gizmos? I don't want or need anything too fancy. I just want
to use it to hear what I'm typing with the bluetooth keyboard. Also, the
tangled cord of the apple earbuds is starting to get a little agrevating and a
wireless earpiece would be welcome.

Re: Zoomtezt for mac

2013-03-12 Thread Tom Frank
I bought it at it's full price and really like it. The smoothing and brightness
controls are much better than what comes with the Mac.
Try it. There's a free trial version so you can't go wrong.

Matthew Campbell, Mar 12 02:39 pm (PDT):
 Hello Dropbox team.
I upgraded to the latest dropbox desktop client on my Mac this afternoon,
only to find that VoiceOver compatibility has not made the journey with me
 to the new upgrade.
This is happening on all of my computers, and to several people I've
 talked to.
 Here are the issues.
1, The DropBox menu bar icon is no longer fully accessible. In the old
client, I used to be able to activate the menu bar icon using VoiceOver
and access the options under it with no problem. Now however, I need to
use a work around to access the options under it.
2, Access to DropBox settings using VoiceOver. This also used to be
possible under the older DropBox app. Now however, the settings option can
no longer be activated with VoiceOvers keystrokes. I can no longer adjust
notification settings, change whether or not DropBox starts with my
 computer, etc.
For anyone testing these problems, VoiceOver can be activated on any Mac
by using the command f5 keystroke.
Thank you for looking in to this.
