time capsule port mappings don't stick
Dear listers, I'm helping someone to set up their time capsule and all is fine, except for one thing. When I enter port mappings and save, the time capsule reboots as usual, but then when checking back on the port settings I made, the text fields for the port numbers are empty. In other words, the port mapping entry in time capsule exists, but it doesn't work when testing. So, when going back into time capsule settings and editing the port mapping, the fields that should still contain the port numbers to map, are empty. After editing, this is what the dialog looks like: Firewall Entry Type: IPv4 Port Mapping, dimmed pop up button. Description: for serv-u passive, port 33250. Public UDP Ports: edit text, blank. Public TCP Ports: edit text blank. Private IP Address: 10.0.1.250, 250 is selected, edit text. Private UDP Ports: edit text, blank. Private TCP Ports: edit text, blank. Cancel, button. Save, dimmed default button. So as you can see, where I entered the tcp port numbers, in both fields it is 33250, the values vanished after the save and reboot on time capsule. Anyone an idea what is going on here? Does any of you have working port mappings with a time capsule, while having the router mode set to dhcp plus nat? Is there a work around for this flaw? There are also the free ones you get via download if you're running Lion or later. Those are Nuance and are supplied free by Apple. Ah, thanks. Both are substandard compared to Alex, I know because they are on read2go and sound like a bunch of poorly made random samples, forced together to read the text. Yes, I almost forgot I had those. The Neuance voices are everywhere now, LOL. They aren't anywhere as good as Alex though, and the premium voices have the strange pitch issue. Re: Filling in tables in the docx format.
Hey Jürgen, unfortunately, I don't know of a way to make all objects imbedded in a document behave that way. That is really just an alternative work-around to copying and pasting a table to numbers. I think that there are still a lot of problems when it comes to collaborating with others using MS office. Aside from the fact that imbedded objects are for all intents and purposes invisible to vo, so are auto bullets and numbers. I've written to Apple accessibility, sent pages feedback from the pages menu, and through the bug report form available to members of an Apple developer program. I haven't seen any change nor received any response in four years. Some years ago, I gave up on word processors and started using something called latex. I realize that it isn't for everyone and every situation, but I thought I might throw it out hear for anyone who might be interested. I can say that I've had great success with it, but the learning curve is steep. You can read about it at: http://www.andy-roberts.net/writing/latex. Good luck. Re: curser and selection problems, any ideas?
Hi William Windels, I sometimes experience strange VoiceOver behaviour like you described. Sometimes, my navigation gets stuck, even though quicknav is off. This is due to things your cursor comes across, that voiceover has difficulty with. Even an attachment I send in a mail message freezes navigation. That is, after the attachment is inserted, and I then review the message and I then come across the spot where the attachment was inserted, voiceover freezes navigation. In other words, hitting up down left right no longer gives feedback, neither audio nor braille feedback. What I do is command f5 twice, to turn voiceover off and back on again. If that doesn't help, you can turn it off, move the cursor a little bit, by tapping up arrow once for example, and then turning vo back on. It helps for me. Hope it helps for you. Paul. Re: accessing dictionary
Hi Kerri, You can access the dictionary either through typing in the first couple letters of it in spotlight search, accessed with command+space. Or, you can navigate to your applications folder with command+shift+A, interact with that, and browse to the dictionary app. Once in the app, you can navigate to the toolbar, interact with that, and go to the search field. Type in the word you wish to look up, and press enter. Then stop interacting with the toolbar, and navigate to the html area. In there, once you interact, you'll find your results. there's probably some other keystrokes that make jumping from the toolbar to the html area quicker, but vo+J doesn't seem to accomplish this, so please forgive the long way around explanation and keyboard action. Hope that helps some, Rachel On Jan 26, 2013, at 11:24 AM, Kerri wrote: > hello, all. How do I access the dictionary on the mac both on the fly and > using it as an application? I would be very sure this isn't a scam or hoax of some kind. So far as I"m aware, Mountain Lion is not susceptible to foreign ware of any kind; you MUST give authentication and a password before anything install on your computer. If this is *NOT* the case, and it's some sort of java-based attack, or some other detail like this, you should get specific information about what ware it is and how it'll be removed. But first I'd make SURE you're talking to Apple. Re: Virus invasion
Hi. $200? Hm. That sounds very high indeed for reformatting a hard drive and reinstalling OSX, if that is what this turns out to be. I wouldn't even pay that much if it included a replacement hard drive. If a reformat and reinstall of OSX is the case, you can do that at home for free as voiceover will boot from the OSX dvd, flash drive, or recovery partition. All you need to do is run disk utility, wipe the hd, reformat it, and install OSX. If you'd like instructions, let me know. Cameron. reording clips in IMovie
I need help ASAP I’m working on a video for my church, the problem i’m having is after moving my video to the project browser and creating my beginning title the video is playing before my title page. The title page is coming on after the video finishes instead of before the video starts. Could someone tell me how to reorder this without having to delete everything and putting the clip in the list then putting the title page so that it will come up first. I’m about to pull my hair out over here cause i know there’s a easyer way to reorder. Thank you for any responces. Cutting and pasting of course does not do the trick for this. i would like to finish this before i go to bed, lol!! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: TTS for mac?
I think they compare very favorably indeed. At this moment, I'm using the American English Heather: and, to tell you the truth, I find this voice actually more responsive than Alex. The Nuance voices-such as come free with Lion or above-are next in line to the quickness of response of the Acapella voices. So, are they worth what you pay? Well, I think so. There is Kate, Paul and Julie. There are also the akapella voices in "speak it!". They don't integrate with VO though. As far as I know, on unjailbroken iOS, there are no other voices. Re: removing mail folders from favorites.
Route your mouse to it and lock the mouse down with vo-cmd-shift-space. Turn off cursor tracking with vo-shift-f3, then stop interacting with the favorites bar group and find a splitter or some other area with nothing in it. Route your mouse there (vo-f5) and then unlock the mouse (vo-cmd-shift-space again). That should serve to drag the folder out of the favorites. If this does not work, close and then re-open mail, then try again. I find I have to do this after every dragging action or it won't work the next time I try. Single user mode?
. I was trying to boot into single user mode just now, but instead of booting, I got a screen with some text on it; that was all I could make out, that their was probably some text on the screen and not my desktop. How do I actually boot into this mode? I want to do this so I can test as much of my ran as I can. Thanks. Go to Vo utility, then speech, default voice, customize. You'll see a table, use the search field if you want. The regular voices cost four voice credits each. The credits cost $5.00 each. The specialized Europiean voices are 6 to 14 credits each I believe. I wonder if Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner can do this. Time Machine which is built in may even do this.
