Scanning multiple pages in Abbyy Finereader Express?
Hello good people. I have a Hp Laserjet pro 100 and this machine has a scanner built in. It's a really good piece of machinery i think. The scanner has a document feeder which i use to scan mail and such with. Now i wonder: Using the scanner with document feeder and Abbyy Finereader is it possible to scan more than one page at a time and how do i do this? /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Thanks to you and your husband, Anne. I will give this a try. Re: Scanning multiple pages in Abbyy Finereader Express?
Hi. When the first page is scanned, you should be able to bring up the window chooser, select the previous window and scan an other page. Remember that the window which comes up when you choose scan is your scanner drivers interface and not Finereader, so if you go back to the FineReader window by using the window chooser, you can scan as many pages as you want before you choose Finnish in your scanner driver interface. That's how it works here with my Canon scanner. Hope that makes sence. Re: Scanning multiple pages in Abbyy Finereader Express?
Hello Krister, I was hoping someone would have a solution to this problem as I can't find one. ABBYY FineReader can process files containing multiple images but doesn't seem to have any way of scanning multiple images into one file. I'll be sticking with VueScan to scan multiple pages and ABBYY FineReader to OCR them. Re: Hard Disk Space Consolidation
Hello Chris and Tim, This is somewhat of a problem because when trying to move folders from one location to another I get a message informing me that my operation cannot be completed because I do not have enough hard disk space. Furthermore, When calculating my Macintosh HD the largest file is my user directory, which is only 536GB. Thus, what is being allocated to the other 460GB? My iTunes folder is roughly 270GB and my VMWare folder is less than 35GB. This morning I check my disk space once more, and now I lost 4GB since yesterday (Bringing my free space to 16GB). I might have to reluctantly get someone to help me use Daisy Disk to see what is going on, if this will even help solve my issue because I feel that the remaining 460GB should still be free. I back-up my machine weekly and I even did a fresh Mountainlion install in early September. If any other light can be shed on the issue I welcome the feedback. P.S. Within /Library/Receipts exists a host of foreign language package install files, can these be deleted since they are never used - minus the English language packages of course? Re: Hard Disk Space Consolidation
In continuation of this thread, I have found through an Internet search that by going to menu/about this mac/more infomration, and selecting the storage tab in the toolbar, you are able to see the true disk space allocation. In doing so, I have been able to see that I have a category called "other," which is using the additional 400 plus GB space. However, I am not sure how to find this "other" area and search and delete the files. The page I reviewed indicated this is a culmination of an assortment of files. Alas, my search continues :) Emilio wrote: > Hello Chris and Tim, > > This is somewhat of a problem because when trying to move folders from > one location to another I get a message informing me that my operation > cannot be completed because I do not have enough hard disk space. > Furthermore, When calculating my Macintosh HD the largest file is my > user directory, which is only 536GB. Re: Scanning multiple pages in Abbyy Finereader Express?
i do the same as Anne does. I also like being able to put my scanner on autorepeat for doing a long book. My scanner process takes long enough that I can just put vuescan on continuous scan and get the pages in and out quickly enough to not have to stop the scanner. If I need to stop at some point and come back to scanning into the same file, I just hit escape. Fast scanner that works on the mac
Hi all. My canoscan lide 60 went through its scanning cycle with vuescan quickly enouth that, when I put vuescan into continuous scan, I could do close to 50 pages in 15 minutes. When the lide 60 died, I bought a 110 but it is driving me crazy. It takes so long to go through its scan process, part of course of which is not scanning but I still have to wait for it, that I can now only do 32 to 34 pages in 15 minutes. Can anybody recommend a good fast scanner, one that will stand up to lots and lots of use? I am glad to have a scanner but this slow pace after having been able to go through pages so quickly is really annoying. For some scanners, the scanner interface isn't really accessible or doesn't work right and for those scanners one has to use vuescan anyway. On Thu, 18 Oct 2012, Søren Jensen wrote: Hi Anne. Re: Hard Disk Space Consolidation
Hi, • Do a Google search for an app named "Disk Inventory X". • Download the Universal Binary version of this app. • Open the DMG that is downloaded. • Copy the app into your Applications folder. • Open it. If it says that it comes from an Unknown developer, open it using VO-shift-m to bring up the Contextual menu and choose Open from there. • Once in the app, Interact with the Tabe. • Select Macintosh HD. • Stop Interacting with the Table and press the Open Volume button. • Wait patiently as it determines everything it needs to determine. The window that ends up out front is not VO friendly but you can use the Window Chooser (VO-f2-f2) to choose the window named Macintosh HD. When you navigate to the Table in this window then Interact with it, it will list the items in order of biggest to smallest. The size of each item, including invisible items is listed to the right of the file/folder name. It sometimes puts a comma within the numbers, just ignore it as it is misleading. I'm guessing that there is a rogue log file or plist file that is either replicating itself or constantly being written to. I had this issue on a MacOS Server one time as the smb side was under attack by someone trying to get in. They never did but the Server was logging the attempts. This log file was in a hidden area so simply doing the math from the visible files didn't cut it but this app helped me solve the problem. HTH. Later... Re: Scanning multiple pages in Abbyy Finereader Express?
Why would this be a problem? You just erase the tiff files after the scanning is done. They are all in the same folder and i just delete them all after I scan. Besides this, if I have something really important I keep the tiff file. Then I don't have to keep the original print copy because if something happens to my text file, I just run the tiff file through Abbyy again. Not only that, I can take the tiff file and try it in new ocr programs if they come along to see if a new one is better. Re: Yoru Fukurou: Displaying My Own Tweets in search window for hash tags?
there are a few ways to do this. first way. in the tweet wind where you type your tweet hit shift3 and it will bring up a list of hashtags. another way to do this is by finding your search window buy hitting command left airo until you see an empty table, VO left over and you should see a search box. if you don't then hit common left airo again then VO left and you should see a search field. once you see the search field type in your hashtag to see what people are tweeting with that hashtag. hope this helps. web site http://www.timothyclarkmusic.wordpress.com phone number should you need to reach me 724-401-1224 check my site for more contact information. thanks and may the good lord keep you and bless you. Hello Tim, Thank you for telling me about this very nice application. I have downloaded and install the application and it has ran successfully. However, I am not viewing this additional 400 some-odd giga-bite HD hog. I am only seeing 27 items, and the largest of which is my user directory, which is fine because when expanding the folder everything is as it appeared when just preforming a normal calculation view. Extending wireless network with a new base station
Dear Listers, I'd like to add an additional base station to my existing wireless network. I've been trying to look for an option which I think I need to change on my primary base station which is "allow extended network" but I do not seem to be able to locate it. Has anyone got an idea of how to find it in the latest airport utility? I've noticed that the Airport Utility has been modified and I no longer get the option to configure my devices manually. Re: Hard Disk Space Consolidation
Hi, So, your Users folder is the largest and using Disk Inventory X, you were able to look at the items from largest to smallest. Doing some rough math when just looking at the items at the root level of Macintosh HD, what does it add up to? Also, in Disk Utility, what does it say about the partitions on the 1 TB drive. Does it list only one partition or multiple? What does it say in the Description field near the bottom of the window with respect to Verified and such? Beyond that, how about we run the disk maintenance protocols manually. These are normally run in the background in the early hours of the morning or, if your computer is not available at that time, they will run upon startup or wake. Do the following to run them manually: • Go into the Terminal app, in the Utilities folder. • type the following command: sudo periodic daily • it should ask you for your Admin password, enter it and press return then wait for the prompt to re-appear. If you wish, you can run the weekly and monthly maintenance procedures by substituting the "daily" parameter with both "weekly" and "monthly" respectively. Quit the Terminal app and see if that made any difference. Later... Re: Extending wireless network with a new base station
Hi, Configuring manually is approached differently. You can VO-space on the Airport wireless device to be sent to a "Pop-over" that simply summarizes the device settings. Press on the Edit button and you can manually adjust the settings that the Utility will allow. The option you are speaking of no longer appears as far as I'm aware. If you use an Airport Express, another Extreme or Time Capsule, you can set them up to Extend your network using Airport Utility under the Wireless tab. Because they are both Apple Airport devices, the configuration will be done automatically when you choose to set the new Airport device as "Extending" your existing network. HTH. Later... Apple looking to add character to text-to-speech voices
Interesting article. I've kind of wondered what a text to speech voice would sound like as if it was from Alabama or Boston. :) http://appleinsider.com.feedsportal.com/c/33975/f/616168/s/249d5633/l/0Lappleinsider0N0Carticles0C120C10A0C180Capple0Einvention0Egives0Echaracter0Eto0Etext0Eto0Espeech0Evoices/story01.htm Sent by Macbook Air Mail -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. to the person creating application shortcuts
Not sure if this message I sent yesterday made it to the right thread. It didn't show up properly in my digest. Nicholas Parsons Oct 18 05:07PM +1100 Thanks, Alex, that help was brilliant! With the Save Attachments… I had tried using three dots, but of course it didn't work. Option semicolon is a great little trick. And the VO-Shift-C (another keystroke I wasn't really aware of) worked a charm for syncing my iPhone in iTunes. I think the problem I was having with sharing via Twitter and Facebook in Safari was due to a conflict with another keystroke, but it seems to be working now with just command-shift-T. Thanks again for the help and all the best! Nic -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Help with Custom Keyboard Shortcuts
Thanks, Esther!! That's great help. I've got it working now.
