Re: 1password accessibility

2012-08-26 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Robert and others using 1password,

Do you use 1password on your iphone as well? The interface looks a lot simpler
than that of the safari extension on the mac. As I'm still a beginner with
1password, I'm hoping you know the answer to the following.

Once I had 1password on the iphone, open an set up, all my items are now on my
iphone, thanks to dropbox sync. But when I am in the logins screen, inside the
1password app on my iphone, I was thinking that double tapping an item would
take me straight into that site. But what's happening is, that the items
information is then being shown rather than logging me in. There is an edit
button in this screen for logins, suggesting that this is the way to edit an
item. Q: how do you get logged in to a site, by using the 1password app on your
iphone?

Paul.

 Hi Robert,

Thanks a lot for your answer. This will be useful later on. I would like
to understand one more thing for now. I seem to have succeeded in storing
one of my passwords inside 1password.
While filling in a password on a site that 1password was not aware of, a
1password dialog came up, asking me if I wanted to save this login for
later. That was the first time I saw the 1password safari extension do
something at all, that VoiceOver caught and spoke, so that is good news to
 begin with.

After having answered "save", I was in, of course, because I myself gave
the right password. But here's the problem.

As I understand it, there's a list of saved logins somewhere in 1password,
where you can click a site, and be logged in right away.
 1. Where is this thing located? In the extension, or in the 1password app?
Clicking on a login inside the app lets me rename it, but not carry it
out. In the extension, I don't find such a list.
 2. Is this the way you go about logging in to sites, using the 1password
 logins list?

 3. Alternatively, You wrote that

Re: 1password accessibility

2012-08-26 Thread Keith Watson
Paul,

Flick to the right till you are on the Web site url and then double tap. That
will open the browser inside the 1password app and log you in. Or at least
bring you to the page and fill in the user id and password. Then all you have
to do is hit the login button.

You are correct, if the 1password safari extension is working properly,
when you are on a website that 1password has login information stored for,
simply pressing command+backslash causes 1password to automatically fill
in the username, password and automatically log you in to the site.

I would encourage you to check the 1password login entry for the site that
got automatically generated and make sure that both the username and
password are filled in. With 1password in focus, pressing command+shift+l
will put you in the window where the list of logins that you have created

Re: 1password accessibility

2012-08-26 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Keith,

Following your advice, double tapping a login item inside the iphone dropbox
app, won't take me to the site, nor fill in credentials, just as I thought it
would work, and as you suggest. Instead, double tapping lets me edit the login
I tapped with voiceover. I.e.: sighted is single tap, using VoiceOver equals
double tap. I haven't found out yet how to log in to a site that 1password
knows about, from the iphone. Even if I turn VoiceOver off, having my finger
right above the login I want, and then single tapping while voiceover is off,
then after turning it back on again to see what my single tap outside voiceover
resulted in, the very same thing happens: i'm editing the login I tapped. If
you have any idea why this is happening, please let me know about that.

Re: 1Password for Mac

2012-08-26 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Rod,

I'm still exploring the 1password interface on the mac. The first thing you
should know about, is that 1password consists of 2 components, each with its
own interface. The main part is a very accessible mac app that goes into your
applications folder, called, you guessed it, 1password.app. The other, less
accessible part, is what they call their safari 1password extension. This is a
plug in program that works inside safari. A day ago, I posted a message with
the subject line of 1password accessibility, describing what you will find
while working with the extension, and some tips on how to use it. If you bump
into issues with it, please post them and we may learn from each other as we go.

Hi Keith,

I overlooked an important part in your reply, and it seems you are right. If I
find the url, not the login title, and then I double tap the url, then yes, the
site loads. Yet again, a little step ahead. Thanks.

 Dear Robert,

I don't seem to get it all yet. Please allow me to ask another question. I
got the auto login feature to work on skype.com. There, I first click on
the sign in button, which gives me the username password site fields.
Command backslash logs me in right away. So that works.

You also said that command shift l brings up the list of logins. I
couldn't get that to work in safari, thinking that the 1password safari
extension would catch that keystroke, but it does work inside 1password. I
get taken to the logins sidebar item, so that works as well. Thanks a lot.

Now, if I click the name of a login, hoping it would launch and log me in,
instead it gives me a text cursor, allowing me to rename the login inside
1password. I want to be logged in with one click, so I tried the context
menu, and yes, there you have an item called open url. But what that does,
is put me on the page for login, but it won't log me in in the same go. Is
 this normal behaviour?

Re: 1Password for Mac

2012-08-26 Thread ROD SKENE
Thanks Paul,
The email threads have been very helpful, and I have learned a lot from them.
I just installed 1Password today and want to give it a decent effort before
asking too many questions.
I was happy to get the Safari plug in installed. I was also able to get my
first login credentials into 1Password. It worked great on the Mac.
My biggest concern is being able to access my banking apps, audible, etc. on my
iPhone after upgrading to more secure passwords with 1Password.
Time will tell if I can get it all to work for me on the Mac and iPhone too.

Advice on using Lion DiskMaker to make a bootable Mountain Lion drive

2012-08-26 Thread Graham Roby
Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
I first downloaded Lion DiskMaker 1.5, then downloaded the ML installation file
from the app store.
When I got the prompt to continue the installation of Mountain Lion, I force
quit the install and ran Lion DiskMaker having checked that the ML application
was in my apps folder.
After waiting what seemed an age Lion DiskMaker reported it couldn't find the
ML install file. I then pointed it right to the file but it again reported that
it couldn't get the name install OS X Mountain Lion.
Has anyone any ideas what's going on here?

Also can I make a bootable DVD rather than USB drive as currently I have none
but quite a few 9gb DVD's?

Many thanks for any help or advice offered.

Re: using multiple signatures in mail?

2012-08-26 Thread Veronica Elsea
Good question, Alex. It does seem silly just to in effect have a storage
place for signatures that one can then drag into the appropriate
account. It would be nice if they'd call that field something that gave
the answer away.

In any case, glad it worked.

You need to make sure that your signatures are in the all signature
section… However, that does not mean they are useful in your account…
You really need to make sure that your signatures are in the box which
has the same name as your account… Four example, Gmail. Until they are
there, they will not be available for your email to use. I don't know
why this is. But that does seem to be how it works. Unfortunately, there
doesn't seem to be any way of transferring them from the all signatures
box to your account box, I had to rewrite them all out again. Which was
a bit irritating. But at least once it was done, they were there
for definite.

I'm not sure how to help with your other problem however, sorry.
I hope this does help solve your first issue though.

I'm fairly certain that Disc-maker only works in OS Lion. Yes, you can make a

I have pressed the command 3 to show the files in columns, but it
still will not let me drag.

I am trying to use airdrop to copy items from one Mac to another from

Banking Program and VO

2012-08-26 Thread Grant Hyde
I am not having any luck finding a banking program that is workable with VO. I
have been working with iBank and Money Well. I have not been able to access
the transaction areas with either program. Any advice or recommendations.

Thanks,

Re: Tune In Radio for Mac?

2012-08-26 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
And, most of them now all, but most are internet based. Plus, there really
isn't a way to sort by genre, and if yuo know a station you wanna hear that's
way down the list, there's no search box that I can see to search by key word
for the station. For this reason, I feel that in my opinion, ITunes radio
wasn't very well designed. This is why I asked earlier, but got no responses,
if there was anything for the mac like Tapin radio, or in the old days,
Screamer Radio, etc. whereby I could search by location, be it local, or by
country/region, city/state, or by genre, etc.

If anyne knows anything like that let me know. I don't want internet stations
though. I'm wanting actual A.M. F.M. stations both in the states and
internationally... more in the states though.

Chris.

Thanks, am I correct in saying most of those radio stations in iTunes are for
the US?
If so no help to me.
  Max.

Hi Max. Unfortunately there is no Tune-In Radio for Mac that I know of but
Itunes has a radio section and most of Tune-In's radio stations are there. HTH.

DVD burning software?

2012-08-26 Thread Matt Gilman
Hello everyone,

So I am looking for a program that will take a DVD that I ripped to my computer
back on to a DVD. When I rip the DVD it creates the files in to a TS folder.
I used to use Toast Titanium back on Leopard. It was really accessible but the
new versions for Lion or Mtn Lion for Toast is totally inaccessible.

Is there any other program that will work out there. I already have the
software to rip the DVD but I need the software to burn it back to DVD. Does
anyone know of a program that works well with voice over?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Matt.

New Way of Sorting with Mountain Lion?

2012-08-26 Thread Brandon Olivares
Hello,

I was just trying to sort columns in iTunes. I had created mp3 versions of all
of the tracks in an album, and then had to delete them after I uploaded them to
my radio.

So I was trying to sort by kind, so I could easily delete the ones I didn't
need any more. What I used to do in Lion was simply to press VO-|. Now,
however, that simply takes you into the column headers area, where you can
select a sorting column, rearrange columns, etc. You now have to press VO-space
on the column you want to sort by, then press VO-| again to jump back to the
columns.

Not sure if anyone else knew this, but I just found it out right now so wanted
to share. Perhaps everyone else is in the know already. :p

Brandon

Wonder if DVD Remaster would work. I'll admit, though I did buy it a while
back, and do have it installed, I honestly haven't really done much with it,
mainly just cause I'm not had much time, with my job taking long hours.

Re: VM Fusion 5

2012-08-26 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello, one thing you might be interested to know, is that on the fusion five
you valuation download page you will find a license key there. Also the company
has indicated to me via email that due to the overwhelming response as they put
it to both the release of version 5, they have had some server problems as they
relate to the downloading of the evaluation product. So if you don't, and are
unable to download it it is just simply demand. Sincerely Maurice Mines. Note
I'm using outlined to dictate this message. So if portions of the email, are
not very understandable. It is a result of either the software, or the
dictation process.

I, and a few other users here, use Checkbook Pro by Splasm Software. Though I

Re: Banking Programs and VO

2012-08-26 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello Grant. I don't know about banking programs for OSX. I use Pocket Money
from Catamount Software on IOS. I can't write checks with it but can do
everything else with checking and savings accounts. There is a desktop version
but it isn't accessible due to limitations in the Integrated Development
Environment that he uses. You can contact him at ha...@catamount.com.

2012-08-26 Thread Maxwell Ivey
hello list; a while back a webmaster contacted me about replacing my static
site with a wordpress site. she felt like she wanted a challenge so she was
helping me for free. she taught me some basic wordpress techniques, but
eventually she realized that my site needed more work than she thought it did.
no worries, i figure I'll just pick up where she left off. so, I've started.
I have a home page and several pages for about me, links, etc. but where i'm
running into a problem is trying to include a blog page within the wordpress
site. i created a page for my blog and wrote a test post. the post is showing
as published but can't find where it went on the site. is there someone here
who can talk me through this part. I think it has something to do with
creating static pages, but i'm not sure. any help will be greatly appreciated.
and yes I'm using a macbook pro running lion. take care, max
