Syncing Question

2010-12-14 Thread Jane
How do I tell iTunes to take all Played episodes of a podcast off the iPad? It
just leaves them there when I do a sync; the only way I have seen to fix this
so far is to delete them in iTunes before I sync, but there ought to be a
better way; maybe I am missing it?

I don't remember the exact sequence of steps, but there's a setting under
System Preferences / Accounts; once you click the lock to make changes and
type in your password, one of the options will be to enable VoiceOver at the
login screen.

Re: default to plain text e-mails questions

2010-12-14 Thread Colin M
Hi there!
I do not know if this will work!
But could you set up a rule to do this!
So you do not have to mess around with settings all the time!
I do not know what you can [or not] do with rules but it says if this criteria
is met do the following action!
And if it works when you've set up your message then [ if I understand it
right] you just use the rules command and off it should go!
Sorry if I have this wrong!

Re: setup apple TV

2010-12-14 Thread Kevin Mattingly
Maybe there is.

Try this...

once you have it up and running, you can possible get it going with voice over
by using the remote to more the the furthest menu on the right. The top choice
is general. Press the enter button on the remote (press it in the middle).
Arrow down to the bottom of the list of options there. There should be a sound
that indicates you're at the bottom of the list. If you move up the list 3
times, that is the accessibility setting. Hit enter and then enter again. It
may start. I'm just not sure because the default language isn't set on it yet.

Give it a shot,
Kev

Re: accessible internet speed test sites

2010-12-14 Thread Patrick Neazer
Hello Chad and all:

Give this one a try:

http://ispgeeks.com/wild/modules.php?name=Bandwidth_Meter_DSL

This was recommended to me when I was having trouble with my comcast service.
While on the phone with the rep I let him know that the other sites were not
readable by me. He informed me that they were flashed based and then I knew why
... hehehehehe. Gotta love those guys at flash (wink).

Anyway, this one is not a flash based speed test site. Give it a go and please
let us know how it works out.

Take good care and I wish you enough.

Re: Can't eject cd

2010-12-14 Thread louie
That depends what mouse you have.
If you have a Mac mouse there is only one way to click the mouse just push it
down.
The left mouse button is on the left.

Using the iPhone as a track pad on the Mac

2010-12-14 Thread Marc Workman
Hi,

I was thinking it might be nice to use my iPhone to control navigation on my
Mac mini. I've looked through the archives to see if anyone has tried this
successfuly, but I couldn't find anything conclusive.

There are several apps that are suppose to turn the iPhone into a track pad.
I've played around a bit with one called Touch Pad Elite. I've been able to
pair it with my Mac, and I can do things like input text and perform operations
like copy and paste, but I'm basically just double tapping on buttons in the
app, which isn't really the idea. I tried using command option plus two
fingers rotated clockwise, which I gather is the gesture to turn on voiceover
gestures for Mac Books, but it didn't work.

If anyone is actually using her iPhone as a track pad, I'd be very interested
in knowing how it's done.

Thanks,

Marc

Hello Marc,

Unfortunately, there is no app that allows you to use the iPhone as a trackpad
that works for trackpad commander. This is a hardware limitation and nothing to
do with the apps.

Cheers,

Hi Marlaina,

There seems to be a slight difference between "editing mode" and "read-only

When reading a mail or browsing a Webpage, only command left or right arrow
works.
When editing text, both control and command work.

Oh well...

Re: iPhone headset

2010-12-14 Thread Scott Granados
It's very small.

One side is a curved pice that fits to the ear with a removable stabilizer.
It's long and slides in two sections that are attached as a boom mic. You can
simply extend it open to answer a call or press a button with out opening
fully. There are a few buttons mostly call answer / dial, volume and a power
charging hole.
In place of the ear stabilizer you can insert another stabilizer with a wire
hanging off it, on the other end of the wire is a small earbud. The wire wraps
around the back of your neck or somewhere out of the way. When it's attached
you have stereo audio full A2DP w/ control support and when you use the normal
stabilizer you have A2DP but in one ear only. You also get different sized ear
buds. Hope that helps.

There is no way to do this, but if you purchase the magic track pad, it does

Re: safari questions

2010-12-14 Thread Carolyn Haas
Hi Deniese:
Probably the quickest way I've found is to invoke the web roter with VO-u, and
look for headers or links. Or, do Vo-f and look for the first couple words in
your title. Beyond this, I'm still trying to find a better answer. A third
thing you can try is Vo-i for item chooser. Then if you type in the first few
letters, it narrows down and brings you to what matches those letters.
HTH at least a little.:)

Two questions:printing labels and keyboard commander

2010-12-14 Thread Carolyn Haas
Hi listers:
I am trying to figure out how to print labels with the Macbook Pro. I
downloaded the template for the avery 8160 labels I have, but can't figure out
how to accomplish getting them to print. I finally had to break down and use
the pc to put my jerky order out.:) Then Alex was not a happy camper and
started acting out. Not pretty.
I have a second question as well. I've noticed that every few days or so, my
keyboard commander somehow becomes disabled. Is anyone else having this
experience, or does anyone know why it happens?
Thanks in advance for any answers

Re: Can't eject cd

2010-12-14 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Chris,

Actually, you are misinformed. The Mac does come with a two button mouse and
has shipped with such since the introduction of the Mighty Mouse a number of
years ago. The Mighty Mouse and Magic Mouse are touch sensitive in multiple
areas. So, in the case of the Mighty Mouse, if you click on the left side, you
get a left-click, on the right-side gives you a right-click, 360 degree
scrolling with the wheel, and these areas are also configurable in the Mouse
pane of the System Preferences. In the case of the Magic Mouse (wireless), the
same applies but scrolling is simply done by moving your finger in a scrolling
motion on the mouse itself.

HTH.

Re: safari questions

2010-12-14 Thread Teresa Cochran
You can use VO-command-n to move to the next web spot or use the web rotor and
find web spots.

Re: anyone using skype 5 beta with os10 having this issue

2010-12-14 Thread Dan Eickmeier
Hi Sarah, i'm experiencing this as well, and I find it happens after i've
cleared my recent conversations, and I get a chat after that. I've found that
going back and forth a bit between that conversation, and the next item above
or below that, and then stoping interaction with the sources list, can get it
to refresh. THis is a very annoying bug however. HOpe it'll be fixed in
another build, whenever another build will be released.

From: Sarah Alawami You submit a screenshot to there site with cmd shift 3 and submit
it. by default it will save to the desktop. submit the png file
and they should be able to solve the captcha in 90 seconds or
less.

Hi Sarah,

OK, so how exactly do I tell it to solve a CAPTCHA? I've only
used it on my PC on Qwitter. LUL!

From: Sarah Alawami it works, except when they are not online to do it. it all
works through volunteers who solve the captchas andI think they
are usually online at night. lol!

Hi Ezzy:
You can get capchias solved by going to Salona.net

I've never done this, but I'm told it works well. (Personally
I'd like to wring the neck of the brain who came up with that way
of screening out 'bots.:)
