Actually if you set mouse cursor to "moves vo cursor" in the navigation category in the VO utility and turn off trackpad controller most items under your finger are announced. HTH. mobile me being a serious annoyance with several macs
Hi, I purchased the 13 inch macbook air lately, and started syncing it to the cloud with mobile me. I really like the service as a lot of my preferences can be immediately synced to other computers, but i get quite some conflict resolving issues, and one of my macbooks says it has been syncing for the first time even after having had synced state permanently checked. Normally one registers a computer and its supposed to just stay there. But in my case one of them doesn't, my macbook pro. Has anyone had this issue before? Re: mobile me being a serious annoyance with several macs
Hi, Try checking the checkbox to automatically keep the most recent version of every file, you'll find it in System Preferences/MobilMe/iDisk, the last item in that window. Also make sure the clock on each of your items are synced, as you'll get problems if they show different time. It should solve most conflicts. Hope this helps. audio-bok MP#s won't import into Itunes?
Recently I downloaded an audio book consisting of six MP3 files. While they play in the QuickLook panel, every time I try to select and import them into the Itunes library, while Itunes opens, they do not appear either in the track listing within Itunes, nor in the Finder when I look at the Itunes Music folder. This isn't an urgent issue, as I can play them in QuickLook, but... what's up with Itunes not recognizing them? I've imported other MP3s into Itunes successfully, just to check. Possible showstopper in Garageband latest version
Hi, I really do hope i'm not right in this, because if i am, it's a showstopper again! I made a project and put in a drum loop which i wanted to stretch out over several bars, so i tried the voiceover resize command for layout objects and chose to move the right edge of the object. I then tried to move the loops right edge and all i heard was "2 bars" or in a case with a longer loop "4 bars" and the right edge didn't move, not a tick. Now the indicator for end of song is at bar no 33, so no oversteping of boundries there. I tried this with the various "motown drummer" loops which are real instruments. What's up with this, is there a limit for how much you can stretch a loop with real instruments? Can i not stretch sterio loops? Surely this shouldn't have any impact on things when you use Vo but you'll never know? or worst of all, is this a bug in VO and its cooperation with Garageband? If so, as i said, this is a showstopper. /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Just to add, It sounds like your trying to stretch a region that is bracketed in between two others. Re: Possible showstopper in Garageband latest version
you need to use the loop, not the right or left. that right or left is only to move it. you cn move the right edge, then move the left over to kind of where the right is, and it wil re-locate the hole thing. Example: I have a 1-bar loop and I drop it on 1.1, I want to move it to 4.1. I slide the right edge to bar 5, and move the left edge to 4. That will move the loop from 1.1/2.1 to 4.1/5.1 HOpe that makes some kind of sense. Re: Possible showstopper in Garageband latest version
Sorry, now i'm more confused than ever. I was told both by Apple A11y and this list that if i wanted to stretch the loop over several bars, i needed to resize the object and so i did and it worked fine with some loops that stretched over many bars. Now all of a sudden, i can't resize the object because i can't move the right edge over the four bar limit, which doesn't make any sence since the end of the song is on bar 33 and the track is empty save for the loop i'm currently working with. Now i'm told to use the loop function which does kinda what i want, exept it leaves a not so nice audible click in the end, becuse it tries to loop back and i can't shorten or lengthen the loop cause if i do, it won't work, it stands wher it was stuck and if i use "loop" to shorten the track, it doesn't shorten the region, it shortens the loop so bars get clipped. As i say i get more and more confused by this thing, i'm too old and stupid for this thing. /Krister 30 okt 2010 kl. 17.40 skrev Goldfinga Productions: > you need to use the loop, not the right or left. that right or left is only > to move it. you cn move the right edge, then move the left over to kind of > where the right is, and it wil re-locate the hole thing. However I can't seem to get loops to be added where I want them to be, so I'll outline the steps I took in case I'm doing something wrong. I position the play head where I want a loop to be inserted using the arrow keys, e.g. bar 1 beet one.. I then find the loop I want in the browser, using cmd+shift+L to audition them (I believe this is a new shortcut key). Then I turn off cursor tracking, make sure the mouse pointer is also on the loop then do the mouse down command. I then locate the timeline, move the mouse to it then release the mouse button. The loop gets inserted but in a random place - the last time I tried it ended up at the beginning of bar 7. Does anyone know why it's doing this? Thanks in advance. Hi, Have you tried playing the show and reading it that way - I do use keynote both to prepare work and show presentations. I don't find it too bad and like it better than ppt now. If you look on the view menu and see what view you have enabled that might help to. The other thing is when I first used the play function in keynote lots of things appeared on the display that I did not want - if you select custom display and then get rid of everything but current slide it helps too - I am rushing off now as meeting friends for dinner - could probably do some better help advice with actual instructions etc later if that would ghelp I guess for now the message is it does work well once you sort a few things out - would also be happy to discuss this off list if you want Julie julie.ratt...@durham.ac.uk -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionar...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Rafaela Freundt Sent: 28 October 2010 21:51 To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: keynote Hi folks, I was wandering if any of you uses keynote, and how accessible it is. Make your own custom iPhone Ringtone for free
I wanted to make myself some ring tones from songs that I had already purchased or ripped, so I did a little research. This is what I found, and it worked perfectly. I hope the rest of you will find it as helpful as I did. Feel free to ask any questions if you get confused. -Joshua http://osxdaily.com/2009/08/08/make-your-own-custom-iphone-ringtone-for-free/ 10 Easy Steps to Make your own Custom iPhone Ringtone for Free The iPhone, iPhone accessories, and iPhone ringtones are all the rage right now, so why not make your own iPhone ringtone? With a Mac or Windows PC it’s pretty straightforward using iTunes, follow these 10 steps and you can easily create your own iPhone Ringtone from whatever song you want. Note that songs with DRM will not usually work, meaning things purchased from the iTunes Music Store will probably not be able to turn into ringtones if they have DRM protection. 1: Launch iTunes 2: Find the song that you want to use for your iPhone ringtone, make note of the start and stop times of what you want to be the actual ringtone (the chorus, or whatever). 3: Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) the song you chose and select ‘Get Info’ 4: Click the ‘Options’ tab and set the start and stop time of your ringtone in the settings below. Keep the selection at 30 seconds or less. Click ‘OK’ – Note: I suggest making a backup copy of the song so you don’t accidentally shorten the song itself. 5: Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) the song again and select ‘Convert Selection to AAC’ and iTunes will convert the song as another copy in the AAC format. 6: Now Control-Click or Right-click the ringtone and select ‘Delete’ making sure to click on the “Keep Files” button 7: Locate the file you just created. Typically located in your home directory under Music > iTunes > iTunes Music and then under the band’s name, the file you’re looking for will have an m4a extension 8: Now replace the ‘m4a’ extension of the ringtone file with “m4r” , so if the file is named MrRoboto.m4a the new file will be called MrRoboto.m4r – you’ll get a warning about changing the file extension time but click “OK” 9: Double click to open the ringtone file you just renamed. iTunes will automatically add this new ringtone to the Ringtones folder within the application 10: Finally, connect your iPhone and sync your new ringtone! You can then select it as any other iPhone ringtone via your iPhone settings. This method will work in iTunes under Windows or Mac OS X! Update: If you have upgraded to iTunes 9.1 or later and you are having problems, you will need to make some changes to the preferences in order to convert songs to m4a ringtone format in iTunes 9.1. Other than the import settings adjustment to iTunes Preferences, the process is practically identical. You will still need to create an .m4a file then rename the extension to .m4r for iTunes to recognize it as a ringtone. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi Ray - I'm of the opinion that computers running OSX should at least have some form of basic malware protection, and preferably a full suite of security tools. If you'd like to hear my reasons, please contact me off-list. There is a decent, free, VO accessible, multi-language, open source anti-malware program for the Mac called ClamXav. It uses the same open source ClamAV anti-malware engine Apple supplies with OSX Server. Itt does not offer all the bells and whistles of Virusbarrier, but it will supply at least a minimal level of protection with regular malware signature updates at no cost. Re: paring apple bluetooth keyboard with mac book pro
Hello, I have never paired a bluetooth keyboard with my Macbook, but I have tried this procedure to pair my Braille display. Hit option control M as in Mary twice. THis should get you to the time machine menu. Right arrow till you hear BLuetooth eight items. From there, arrow down to set up bluetooth devices or something like that. Hit enter on it and it should ask you to pair the device. If your keyboard has a specific code, be sure to select the radio button that says enter specific code or something like that. YOu should be good to go after that. I hope so, my bluetooth on my Macbook is finicky sometimes, but it generally works. I hope my instructions were clear enough. I've done this a few times now, but not enough to really know what I'm doing. Well, I hope I have helped. Have a great weekend. Musically, Allison My birds are winged blessings, they help me soar! Re: Financial program for Mac
I'm using a wonderful program called, simply, "Checkbook". Checkbook comes in a pro version, but neither of these programs is very expensive at all. I think the basic program is $14. The pro version is probably not much more. Sorry. I have no further information at the moment. Re: adding to the doc
OK, this is what I do: Go to your applications folder (CND + SHFT+ A, then, highlight the app you want to be on the doc, then do CMD+SHFT+T, that ads the app to the doc. Alternatively, open the app, go to the doc, find the app, VO+M on the icon, then, go to options, then, keep in doc. HTH, Wes.
