Re: read receipts in apple mail?
Simple, you cannot. Apple Mail does not have a facility such as this. Funny thing though, most mail clients will allow you to prevent you from receiving a message back that the message you sent was read. So, I never could understand the point of this. I regularly get mail at work and I always say no to these return receipt requests. Re: Setting Up Time In ICal?
Hi Teresa, If I'm reading your question correctly you would like to know how to set up a event in iCal and select the date and start and end time. I am able to do this in iCal. I'll try to show the steps I use below. I hope this is what you are looking for. 1. open ical 2. hit command n to create a new event 3. You will hear new event and you can edit this field to give the event the name you want. 4. arrow once to the right and you will hear "event details scroll Area" Interact with this area and then arrow down until you hear the word from 5. arrow once to the right, you will hear something like July 9 2010, interact with this field. now you can change the year by moving the arrows up and down. To change the month right arrow once to the month field then arrow up and down to change the month. 6. To change the time right arrow over again to the right and you will hear the hour. again arrow up and down to change the hour. another right arrow takes you to the minutes. 7. to save the event stop interacting with the date and time area, then stop interacting with the event details area. finally right arrow to the done button. Hit that and you have a new event with the date and time you want. You can set other options such as alarms in the detail scroll area. I hope this is the info you wanted and that this helps. eric Caron On Jul 8, 2010, at 4:41 PM, Teresa Cochran wrote: > Hi, all, > > I can't seem to find a way to navigate to the hours and minutes in ICal. converting audible books .aa files
Hi Is there a way to convert audible books .aa and audible extreme format books .aax files into regular mp3s on the mac? I want to convert them to mp3s so I can play them on my national library service digital book player. Also is there an audible download manager for the mac? Or would I have to go through itunes? I guess if worse comes to worse I'll run windows7 in bootcamp and use goldwave to convert the books to p3. Josh, Converting your audible books to mp3 is a violation of your customer agreement with audible. You can burn them to cd, but you may not convert them to mp3, so anybody giving you advice on how to do that will be helping you do something not in accord with the audible agreement. On the mac, you use Itunes as your audible manager software. there is no separate audible manager software for the Mac. First, the only way you're going to convert any Audible.com format in to mp3 is by using Audio Highjack Pro through ITunes. Forget that way. It's going to take as long to convert as it will take to listen to it. So far as managing the books, Itunes is the best and I believe only way to do this. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! RE: A warning about Digit-Eyes
Scott, my opinion is based on a product, not my opinion of a person. If it takes $20,000 to plan, develop, test, document, market, and sell a program, I charge $30 for it, and sell 700 copies, I've recovered my costs. Those 700 people have already bought the program, so won't be buying it again. If it will cost me $5,000 to upgrade or modify the app, but I'll basically be giving those upgrades away for free, then I'm now $5,000 in the hole. I don't go in to business to lose money. So, saying that there is no incentive to improve a program after everyone has already bought it means that there is no financial incentive to upgrade a program, and that is a matter of fact. You can argue that all day based on emotional feelings about the matter, but no business will lose large sums of money to please customers that have already bought the product. If they're an individual, their family will complain loudly about the hardship. If they're a private corporation, the bank will have words with them. If they're a public corporation, their stock holders will vote them off the board of directors. It doesn't matter what they say. That's how it is. Anyway, I'll add my vote for laser scanners support on the phone, not the web site. If I wanted to use the web site, there is UPCDatabase, and many others. I suppose that they're doing as best as can be accomplished with a camera, but a camera is just not designed to work the way with bar codes that blind people need to work. tivo decode manager
Hi guys: I'm having problems with tivo decode manager. I can see my tivo shows on my tivo, I can select the ones I want to transfer and put them in the cue, but when I hit download, I receive some kind of apple text script error. Any thoughts? Re: OT: introducting lockerz
Hi: You can do the same with Swagbucks. They have items in their store as well as gift cards. They have ipods, computers, mp3 downloads, iphones, etc. The site works well with VO, and their customer service is very helpful. I personally like the gift cards so you can save up for stuff. Re: OT: introducting lockerz
So, to iether of you, based on how many points you have at the moment, how long do you both think it will be until you can claim a free apple product? I'm always pretty skeptical about this sort of stuff - I'm sure they do ship what they claim to, it's just that its usually quicker to save up 1 and 2 p's and buy one that way. Re: OT: introducting lockerz
in 2 days I've already gotten 322 points, which already I am able to get on of the ipod nanos. but I'm working towards an ipad, which is 1000 points, but I don't think that won't be long nor take much work. especially now that they're offering double points for watching these short videos I'm able to get about double what I was getting before, then, if I invite 16 more people, I get double points all around which will make it a breeze to rack up points and redeem any apple product I want. many youtube videos I've watched have said lockerz is much better than swag box. I agree about scams which is why I did my homework throughly before even signging up. the ery fact that they actually need to restock is an indication that this place is legit, also not to mention that people on youtube actually show the packing material they send i.e. box, packing slip and tape that lockerz use when shipping items. and they are based in new jersey but I believe murch is sent from philadelphia On Jul 10, 2010, at 7:31 PM, Ben Mustill-Rose wrote: > So, to iether of you, based on how many points you have at the moment, > how long do you both think it will be until you can claim a free apple > product? > > I'm always pretty skeptical about this sort of stuff - I'm sure they > do ship what they claim to, it's just that its usually quicker to save > up 1 and 2 p's and buy one that way. > > On 10/07/2010, Cody Hurst wrote: >> I will not touch offers, that means free trials and initial fees like the >> other sites >> >> On Jul 10, 2010, at 4:27 PM, Sarai Bucciarelli wrote: >> >>> Hi: >>> I'd reply off list, but I can't figure out how to do this. Bryan, I am not going to waste my time arguing with you over the issue. I am not entirely disagreeing with you; however, I think you seem to take a pretty dim view of these people and tend to be more supportive of the "blind" products that cost more. My entire point to this discussion is that this may not be perfect, but it sure as hell is better than what is available, based on cost. I would gladly spend $30 on a product that is in development and may not even quite reach the same level as some of the "Blindness" products, then spend the $1,000 or more for the "Blindness" products. Then that is me and of course you do what works best for you. So, we can agree to disagree and move on to other topics, this thread has run its course as far as I am concerned. Nope, the offers they have are videos, and surveys. No trials, no credit card required. I like the shop and earn section. macbook randomly freezes windows7 64bit bootcamp
Hi my macbook pro randomly freezes with windows7 64bit installed with bootcamp all updated drivers. I read its an nvidia driver issue. I read I have to dowload download the following file. http://www.brsbox.com/filebox/down/fc/0917205bb051880869ad1c9542ce57a1 I cannot figure out where to go to download the file to make it download. Can someone please help. I was told the random freezing of windows7 64bit pro on the new 2010 macbook pros is due to an nvidia driver issue and that the file I should be able to get from this site includes a modified .inf file that will fix the issue for me once installed. please help if you can. Hi well I went and rolled back the nvdidia drivers with no effect. windows7 in bootcamp still freezes. it freezes randomly. Re: tivo decode manager
Hi. I had trouble with tivo decode manager as well. My guess is that it doesn't work with Snow Leopard. What I ended up doing was uuse the web interface to download the shows I wanted, then I used the tivo decoder command line tool to remove the drm. Tivo decode manager is actually a graphical front end for this tool. You can find the command line tool by viewing package contents for Tivo Decode Manager. It's been a while since I've done this, so I can't give you specific instructions on how to use tivo decoder, but I believe it does bring up a help screen when you run it. HTH. Re: Using a Mac Mini without a monitor
Please, spare us this! While I think it would be nice if the mini worked without a monitor, please, don't give us this stuff about being forced to buy something you don't need. Personally, I have a vary old monitor which I keep around just in case I get in to trouble where sighted assistance is necessary. I am sure that most of us who came from windows know that does happen from time to time to even the best of us. So, even though I have never yet had a problem on the mac where sighted assistance was definitely necessary, I have learned that having a vary inexpensive monitor around is a good idea regardless. You can buy a used 1 for $50 or less, especially an old 15 inch LCD or something like that. On my mini, I have found that any old monitor would solve the problem and didn't even have to be turned on. So, I hope we don't go off on the whole needing a monitor thing, because, it's really trivial! On Jun 27, 2010, at 4:29 PM, Chris Moore wrote: > Why is it sluggish without a monitor?
