[lubuntu-users] Pulse Audio Volume Control

2017-03-05 Thread Heima
Hi,

I have been trying to install pavucontrol package but I can't get it to work
under Lubuntu 16.04.2. When I try to run it from the terminal, I get:
`pavucontrol: error while loading shared libraries: libatkmm-1.6.so.1: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory`
Consequently, I installed libatkmm-1.6 with a dozen of other packages, but
still no luck.
Has anyone got Pulse Audio Volume Control to work under Lubuntu 16.04 ?

Regards.

[lubuntu-users] Switching Input Languages via terminal

2017-03-08 Thread Heima
Hi,

My gnome-language-selector keeps crashing every time I open it. Fortunately, I
have installed my missing language packages via the command line but I still
can't switch to the other input language.

Does anyone know how to register "another language" as input method via the
terminal ? I have tried Fcitx but only "English" is available.

Regards.

Re: [lubuntu-users] Switching Input Languages via terminal

2017-03-13 Thread Heima
Thanks Ralf and mtremblay. I have already installed languages via apt install
`check-language-support -l `. It turned out I only needed to un-tick
"Only show current languages" in Fcitx.

Regards.

Fcitx should give you access to literally hundreds of languages. When you
install it, right click on the keyboard icon and choose “configure input”. From
the next screen you can add or remove languages.

[lubuntu-users] "Switch Input languages" and "Compose Key" keystrokes

2017-03-13 Thread Heima
Hi,

I am looking for the functionality of the Compose key in Lubuntu [1]. A Compose
Key would allow me to type special characters conveniently.

Also, Is there a hotkey to switch between input languages (e.g. Alt+Shift) ?

Regards.

Marc,

In Fcitx, this was assigned to "Trigger Input Method", but it doesn't switch
keyboards.

I believe the hotkey to switch between languages is “CTRL” + “ SPACE BAR”

Re: [lubuntu-users] "Switch Input languages" and "Compose Key" keystrokes

2017-03-18 Thread Heima
Thank you Liam, it worked!
For switching the input languages, I kept struggling with fcitx. it turns out
the correct keystroke to set was Activate Input Method.

As for gnome-language-selector, I tried reconfigure my locales ( >
dpkg-reconfigure locales), update them ( > update-locales ) and then
restarting. It worked again.

It is sadly rather harder in Lubuntu than in mainstream Ubuntu -- and
that is harder today than 2-3 years ago, because GNOME 3 has removed
the functionality from its keyboard preferences.

[lubuntu-users] "Power Off" Panel item

2017-03-19 Thread Heima
Hi,

I have accidentally deleted my panel. I have created a new one with applets
added manually but there is no standalone "Power Off" applet. You can already
access "Power Off" settings from the Menu --> Logout.
Does anyone know where I can find this standalone applet ?

Regards.

Thanks Israel. There are plenty of hidden utilities too!

I regularly suspend my session, so it's a plus for me. Besides, I have tried to
suspend via the terminal but IIRC, it wasn't as simple as shutting
down/restarting.

I see. Thanks Enrique, I'll use it. Do you know how to manually add an
application to the panel (say, from /usr/share/applications) ?

Re: [lubuntu-users] Greetings from Cuba!!!

Hello there!

Greetings Ludwig. Hope you are okay. How is everything on your side ? How is
the censorship ? I hope you (and we as well, in Egypt) get over this, but it
appears not.
