[Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest/hangout

2013-04-21 Thread Jackson Doak
Howard and i are trying to make a testdrive google hangout/hackfest. we
still need at least one of dustin and andres to come on so someone can
teach us all how the code works (we're just guessing).

If anyone wants to be involved, let us know. sergio and nicholas, hopefully
you two can be part of it.

Andres and Dustin: 1. please come on and show us how the code works 2. you
have a number of merges waiting. 3. why do you both have so many emails on
your launchpad accounts.

[Lubuntu-qa] [PPC] Kubuntu

2013-04-21 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hi folks,

the PPC tester for kubuntu has mis-placed the charger for his machine. Can
you please 'adopt' that iso for testing through to release. I'll let you
know if he finds it and resumes testing.

Thanks,

Phill.

[Lubuntu-qa] raring-desktop-i386 - Can not connect to a wireless network

2013-04-21 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
Hello Everyone,

I'm having some problems lately but I will start with the one that most
important and I know we are few days to the final release but I must report
this.

I'm using my test laptop right now to type this. I'm connected to the
internet via LAN.

Long story short, I can not connect to my Wireless Network, neither from
13.04 beta 2, nor 12.10 nor 12.04 and all on the same machine.

*-network

multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11abg

Just did a system upgrade and same result. Just in case it is a bug and the
fix has been released. I'm sure this is not news for you.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

P.S.
This is Beta 2 installation.

I just did sudo apt-get upgrade & sudo apt-get update

The error is still present. When selecting latam (latin-american
keyboard, corresponding to my
physical keyboard) I get:

The two keys right of P: ` +(correct)
  "+shift: ^ *(first is incorrect)
   "+ altGr : [ ](both incorrect)
   " + shift and altGr : ° ¯

The two keys right of KLÑ : ´ ç (incorrect)
  " + shift ;: ¨ Ç (incorrect)
  " + altGr: { } (incorrect)
  " + shift and altGr ;: { ˘

The two keys right of 890: ' ¡ (last incorrect)
  " + shift: ? ¿ (last incorrect)
  " + altGr : \ ~ (first correct, last
maybe not(no symbol printed on key))
  " + shift and altGr : ¿ ~

Re: [Lubuntu-qa] raring-desktop-i386 - Can not connect to a wireless network

2013-04-21 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
Hi Phill and thanks for your quick reply,

I'm on 10.04 right now. I have checked on 12.04. NO chance at all.

Yes, this is ASUS F3F Intel Core Due @1.86GHz and 512MB RAM. That thread
didn't help :(
Unless you suggest to use:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper ???

I think the Wireless here was working fine. I'm not sure but I think it
stopped after using LAN connection. Now, even if I unplug the wire (LAN), I
can't connect.

So, it seems not a release/OS issue but a Hardware issue? I'm a bit
confused about it.

Re: [Lubuntu-qa] raring-desktop-i386 - Can not connect to a wireless network

2013-04-21 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hi Ali,

my best guess, as it was an issue in 9.10 is that the card is no longer
supported. It's very doubtful to have a regression bug actioned on. As you
and I both well know, older hard ware is dropped to make room for the new
stuff. I cannot really do / ask anything this close to 13.04 release, but
will ask if there is any way that I am capable of to add that driver back
into the newer kernel manually. Do not hold your breath, as I don't even
know how to make a new kernel! The Release team at are 110% in the next few
days, I will only be able to ask them after 13.04 is released.

Regards,

Phill.

Re: [Lubuntu-qa] raring-desktop-i386 - Can not connect to a wireless network

2013-04-21 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
Hello,

Nothing urgent - take your time.
As long as I have a working internet via LAN, it is okay.

I was just trying to learn more about servers so I thought to use the LAN
cable to connect to my other laptop and use the Wireless here :)

Don't worry about this issue, I thought it's a release related but it seems
not.
I will do my digging too ;)

Thanks a lot!

 Hello Everyone,

I'm having some problems lately but I will start with the one that most
important and I know we are few days to the final release but I must report
 this.

I'm using my test laptop right now to type this. I'm connected to the
 internet via LAN.

Long story short, I can not connect to my Wireless Network, neither
from 13.04 beta 2, nor 12.10 nor 12.04 and all on the same machine.

 *-network
description: Wireless interface

 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11abg

Just did a system upgrade and same result. Just in case it is a bug and
the fix has been released. I'm sure this is not news for you.

 Suggestions?

 Thanks!

 P.S.
 This is Beta 2 installation.

Hi Ali,

Do you see the wireless network(s) that are available, and just can't
connect, or you see no wireless networks at all?

Re: [Lubuntu-qa] raring-desktop-i386 - Can not connect to a wireless network

2013-04-21 Thread Jose Lopez
Ali, I know that what i'm about to share is probably old hat. I never get
my wireless working out of the box. I usually have ti right click on the
Internet icon in the lxpanel uncheck the wireless item go out of it , then
go back to it and click on it again. go back out of it, wait about five
seconds. left clinck on the Internet icon again, and all the time it will
show my network. That is just the way I do it, or else it will not work.

1. I'm free Friday, April 26th, from 9am - 10am CST. Hopefully that
time works for you and Andres as well. In any case, I can try to
record the hangout and you can watch it in replay otherwise.

2. I see a couple of them at:
https://code.launchpad.net/testdrive/+activereviews We can review
these during our hangout so that you can see what we look for when
considering a merge to trunk.

3. I wear various hats. I use different emails when speaking with
different voices or as a different authority.

Cheers,

Re: [Lubuntu-qa] Testdrive hackfest/hangout

2013-04-21 Thread Jackson Doak
sounds great, we could merge it with nicholas' QA release party.
would you mind merging my branch 412, i've got more merges to come
afterward and was hoping we could get 412 in quickly.

I'm in australia and howard is in hong kong, so that is 1am for me,
something late for him. will you have some time free in the afternoon or
evening?
