Re: [Lubuntu-qa] End Of Life..

2013-03-30 Thread Phill Whiteside
I have an update for 10.04

*Ending Ubuntu Desktop support just means that we no longer release desktop-
related updates, the repository won't (can't) go away and be archived, since
server, as you note, still depends on it. In that sense, lucid in general
is "supported" for another three years. Nothing changes for people, they
just won't get non-server SRUs and security updates from Canonical, nor is
there a community commitment to make them.

So, your users don't need to do anything. Kernels will keep getting
updated,
and life goes on.*

Regards,

Phill.

This is just prefect.
Can we mention that clearly on our Wiki?

I'll ask that the 'previous releases' section edited nearer the time.

This is a very good idea and absolutely the right time to be doing it.
Maybe some kind of three way cooperation can be done between the Ubuntu
community, the Fedora community and the Linux Foundation, or something
like that.

[Lubuntu-qa] [CALL FOR TESTING] - IMPORTANT NOTE

2013-03-30 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
= PLEASE READ AND SHARE =

[IMPORTANT NOTE]

Without our Testers, there would not be all the many release ISO's for
Lubuntu. The Lubuntu Developers would eventually stop development on these
many variations on our flavour and just do the 'standard' ones that they
know will get tested and passed. The statement from Canonical, which also
applies to our Lubuntu Developers is that as long as they see testers
testing, they will continue to develop on all those ISO's we have. Everyone
needs to understand that a new release is not 'magic out of the air', it
takes a lot of work from the developers to provide these variations and lot
of work from the testing teams. Our Lubuntu Developers and Canonical need
to see that people are testing to ensure we maintain the largest options of
installing Lubuntu.

More Information? Please see this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing/Why_So_Many_ISOs

[/IMPORTANT NOTE]

*Long Story Short, Lubuntu needs your help. We do need MORE Testers.*
*Your help, support and contribution are highly needed and no question
appreciated.*
*
*
Please have a read here for more information about Testing:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing

Thank you so much!

ali, get ppc into testdrive, and you will magically get heaps more testers.
