[Lubuntu-qa] Release weekly status update

2012-08-31 Thread Julien Lavergne
Hi,

As you probably know, I'm doing a weekly update of the Lubuntu release
status every Friday. I try to report big changes and news about what I
noticed, but I'm probably not accurate. So, If you want to bring
something, you can write it on the wiki page, on the section for the
next meeting : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/ReleaseStatus/Quantal

I'll review it before sending it.

Thanks.

Regards,
Julien Lavergne

[Lubuntu-qa] Any idea how to fix this?

2012-08-31 Thread Ali Linx (amjjawad)
Hi everyone,

With Lubuntu 11.10 being released, we used to see a problem with Laptops
when users used to complain about a gab between the Timer and Power/Battery
Icon and The Network and Volume Icons. I don't remember the bug number/link
right now but I'm very sure I have come across that issue at that time.

Last night, I was helping a friend who had Ubuntu 10.04 and upgraded it by
mistake to Ubuntu 12.04. He was SHOCKED when he saw Unity so I suggested to
install 'lubuntu-desktop' package.
As I always used to do, in order to give as much help and support as
possible, I did install 'lubuntu-deskop' package on my Test Laptop on a
previously installed Ubuntu 12.04. I never do that, I always do fresh
install for Lubuntu as I don't believe installing the desktop package equal
a fresh install of Lubuntu and above all, I don't use Ubuntu anymore, I'm
all into Lubuntu at the moment.

Anyway, here is a link:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=398021446917568&set=o.284774574912703&type=1&theater

The screenshot will describe the issue even better.

My question: is there any way to fix that? I thought it's been fixed but
didn't know it is still happening.

One of my friends said that to re-produce that, it's fair enough to install
'lubuntu-desktop' on the top of Ubuntu 12.04 and it will happen.

Why this is happening? how to fix it?
Note that, with Fresh New installation of Lubuntu 12.04, it never happened
with me at all. I have 4 machines here and I did so many installation ...
all are ok and without that issue.

Thanks!

Hello Jim,

You don't really have to have a Facebook Account to access that since it's
Public but it is ok, there you go:
