Re: Linux sysadmin course.
Sivan has a Linux / Unix course. I'm not sure 'advanced' would be the right way to describe it (though I never took it myself). Re: sun StarOffice for Linux
What the hell is this 300kb attachment doing there?! This is just _too_ much. 50kb attachments are unacceptable, 300kb attachments are freakin' unbelievable. Oh man. It's the fact that Sun bough StarDivision, and now it's free for *any* use, not just personal. There are just two problems: 1. It's not Open Source -- that means we won't be able, for example, to help with Hebrew support unless we sell our soul to sun. Somebody please correct me if this isn't true. 2. Sun is planning to take StarOffice apart and turn it into a "thin-client" system. *This* may mean that SO, as we know it, won't be continued to work on. RE: sun StarOffice for Linux
I'm working about a year with StarOffice 5.0 (now 5.1) in both Linux & Windows. As far as an editor - it is great. The data sheet seem to work fine, although I didn't work with that too much. The internet support is lousy (not stable). The cross environment is good. As far as compatibility to MS Word - Simple documents (styled text and pictures) are transported fine. The problem begin with other OLE's like graphs, equations etc. are gone or just empty frames. So - I recommend it warmly, and I modestly present and example of output (don't check my math). <> - Iftach Hyams [EMAIL PROTECTED] 04 831 5605 The First Law of Window Cleaning: It's on the other side. To the list administrator: I recall that there were talks about attachments' filters for the list. It is too much to receive a ~300k from each one who happens to like a certain piece of software...
