[LincolnTalk] FS: CB Percussion Traveller Snare Percussion Kit Model 7106 for $125

2024-08-19 Thread paula louise light via Lincoln
Hello.  For sale is this drum kit which was purchased for a 6th grader to learn
percussion and participate in band at the Lincoln Middle School.   It is listed
on various sites at different prices.  It was purchased from Boston Drum Center
in Acton.
Here is the link on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/CB-Drums-7106-Traveller-Snare/dp/B003B02DDS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=YMKW225PWERJ&keywords=cb+drum+set+is+good+7106&qid=1692555660&sprefix=cb+drum+set+is+good+7106%2Caps%2C89&sr=8-2&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.2b70bf2b-6730-4ccf-ab97-eb60747b8daf

Here is the link on reverb.com:
https://reverb.com/item/68359613-cb-percussion-traveler-snare-percussion-kit-model-7106

In layman's terms, this is a snare drum kit composed of a drum and what I call
a xylophone but it is referred to as bells on the instrument sites.
It has everything you see in the links above, including a wheeled travel bag.
It is in great shape.  Priced to sell and it ia a great savings over rental.
Pick up in Lincoln.  Cash or Venmo.
Thank you,
-Paula

Hello LincolnTalk,

I'm sending this on behalf of a friend who lives in Cambridge.

Seeking a new home for a playful Havanese puppy (12 weeks old).

He's gone to puppy training classes. Responds to his name Seymour, and a few
commands: come, sit, touch, settle, and No (sometimes). Is treat motivated and
picks up commands quickly. He is crate trained and can stay overnight in his
bed without accidents 9 hours after his last pee. Loves to play in grass and
likes short walks. Good with older kids (7+ yrs). Plays well with other dogs
after introduction. He would benefit from a home with a yard he can romp around
in. He loves to play tug of war.

He will have his second set of shots on Aug 21 (although happy to bring earlier
than this vet appointment if you'd like to meet him). He has blue green eyes
and one pink toe bean.

Please let me know if you're interested and I'll share the owner's contact

[LincolnTalk] How to find lower electricity rates

And here are just the first three suppliers on the chart, out of a couple
dozen. Eversource is listed first and the other entries are arranged by price.

The chart also tells you when each contract expires, which suppliers are 100%
from renewable sources, whether there is a cancellation fee and whether the
contract will be renewed automatically at a new rate if you don’t make a note
to yourself to check back to the chart before the expiration date and select
whichever of the couple dozen contracts then on offer is best for you instead
of whatever price and terms your current supplier may offer to you as a
continuing customer (probably not the original teaser price for its first-time
customers that you’ve been enjoying). If there is no cancellation fee, you can
switch at any time to something you find that’s better
We chose a 30 month, 100% renewable, no cancellation fee contract at 12.9
cents/kw awhile ago and haven’t bothered to change it since, but people who
want the very best deal are free to check and switch as frequently as they wish

Re: [LincolnTalk] How to find lower electricity rates

2024-08-19 Thread Paul Shorb
If you are focused on lowest price, the state list is useful — so long as
you watch out for price increases after you sign up, as Ed noted. (So many
of these providers have used misleading marketing tactics that when Maura
Healey was Attorney General, she recommended outlawing them!)

However, if you want an electricity supply contract that has a positive
environmental effect, unfortunately the state list itself is more
misleading than helpful, because it fails to distinguish between different
kinds of “renewable sources”. The only kind of electricity supply contract
you can be assured will reduce global warming emissions is one that matches
your electricity usage with “Class 1” renewable energy credits (“RECs”) as
defined in MA law. A Lincoln resident can get those by staying in or
joining Lincoln’s Green Energy Choice program. Anyone can get by signing up
with Green Energy Consumer Alliance.

You could try to find out if the vendors on the state list are pairing
their electricity supply with (a) meaningful Class 1 RECs versus (b)
essentially useless “Texas wind” or “national” RECs. But when I have asked
a few of them, they have declined to answer. I infer that they generally do
not.

Re: [LincolnTalk] How to find lower electricity rates - delivery, too

2024-08-19 Thread ROY HARVEY via Lincoln

The discussion below appears to be about supply, not delivery.  If you heat with heat pumps, you can save additionally by selecting the R3 residential delivery rate instead of the standard R1 rate.  You'll save 0.6 cents a kWh.  Not a lot, but at the end of the year you can buy a sandwich.

The bill below shows Supplier and Delivery as separate line items.  This is before I changed to R3.  You can make this change by calling Eversource (800-592-2000).  No paperwork needed.  More details here: https://www.eversource.com/content/residential/account-billing/manage-bill/about-your-bill/rates-tariffs/electric-delivery-rates

Re: [LincolnTalk] water emergency

2024-08-19 Thread Rich Rosenbaum
While we have an occasional minor issue with our water supply, a little
perspective might help us make it through them. While almost all of the
time we have access to plentiful, clean, potable water at the turn of a
knob, somewhere between two¹ and four² *billion* people do not.

[LincolnTalk] School begins before Labor Day

2024-08-19 Thread Susan Taylor via Lincoln
First day of classes for all Lincoln students is Thursday, August 28, for
Lincoln Public Schools (PK-8) and Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School. LPS
teachers report Monday.

Please share our enthusiasm for the new school year and plan ahead for traffic
delays at drop-off and pick-up times. Be aware of children at neighborhood road
sides and cross walks. Expect stops behind school buses. Remember 20 MPH speed
limits near Ballfield Road and plan for increased traffic along Lincoln Road.

Thank you for protecting our children and for supporting our schools!

[LincolnTalk] Parakeet

2024-08-19 Thread Susan Winship via Lincoln
We had two birds and one sadly died. The remaning bird - Amy- is alone. She
needs more birds and or people around her. We used to have the birds in our
kitchen but after a small renovation there was no room there for the birds. The
birds are off in a room where we don’t go much.
Do you have a place near where you hang out that Any could be close to you?
Amy has a big cage that comes with her.
Please give her a home!

Re: [LincolnTalk] How to find lower electricity rates

2024-08-19 Thread Edward Young via Lincoln
It would be helpful to LincolnTalk readers to hear whatever reasons there may
be for not thinking that when customers with 62% renewable Eversource contracts
sign up for new contracts for 100% renewable energy (as set forth on the
state's list) sourced from Texas or elsewhere in the country, that increases
overall demand for renewable energy which therefore reduces global warming
emissions.

In regard to the Lincoln Green Energy Alliance, it would be helpful, for
comparative purposes, to know what the current price per kwh is under the LGEA
program for LGEA customers receiving 100% renewable electricity, as well as
what percentages of LGEA customers are receiving 100% renewable electricity.
