Titling markup
Hello list, it seems to be an easy question, but I could not find a solution: How can I change the formatting of "title" or "subtitle" to "normal" instead of "bold", without editing "titling.scm"? I know how to change e.g. "dedication" to "bold" via \markup, but I could not find a reference for the other way around in "7.4.3 Overview of text markup commands". What is the opposite of "bold"? Re: Problem installing on WinXP.
Hello Ruud, list, I've discussed XP installation problems with Ruud off-list, and wanted to share my findings. This is what I did: - I installed a clean version of Windows XP. - I ran the latest setup.exe from http://www.cygwin.com - Selected a 'random' server close to me (easynet.be, IIRC) - I opened the Publishing package, and I clicked Lilypond (it showed 'skip' to start with). The first version shown was 2.4.2-1. ANother click showed version 2.2. (something). Apparently, some packaging bugs have been fixed. Also, other packages in the list were selected (I didn't pay attention to which ones, I 'just' needed to check a correct installation behaviour). Then, Setup downloaded a few updates packages from the Net (most of the packages were already up-to-date in my installation folder), and started installing Cygwin. Lilypond was correctly installed as well. When running Lilypond, it complained about 2 fonts not being available, but that was about it. It did give me the output I expected. So, unfortunately, I can't be of much assistence in the Windows XP corner, since no problems can be reproduced. Does re-downloading the latest Setup.exe, and re-running it (and checking Lilypond's version while you do that) help? Réf. : Re: Problem installing on WinXP.
Hi list. Actually, that's what I did : I first tried to install 2.4 on XP from lilypond.org, but I couldn't make it work. So I went to cygwin website, and downlaoded the last version of the setup. I downloaded and installed lilypond 2.4.0 and tetex (for other purpose), and everything is OK since then. Have all a good WEnd ! Re: Compiling on Cygwin
Installing t1utils solved the problem, Thanks. t1utils is not mentioned in the installation instructions (http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.5/Documentation/topdocs/out-www/INSTALL.html), though. Now I have another problem in the mf directory. View autotrace.sf.net . No. the problem is that miktex's t1asm expects different command line options from t1util's t1asm. Solutions: * install t1utils * edit mftrace, changing t1asm invocation. ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user

I vaguely remember that > someone posted a solution to the mailing list some month ago, search > the mailing list archives. I tried out the code that was posted here, but it seems to be buggy. Lilypond sais, that there ist no command \on-the-fly and it seems, that there are some other errors (brackets). So I have still no idea, how to get text in the footer on every side. > The trick is probably to use text markup commands, \markup{...}. For > example, you could add a second (empty) line in the title field. Yeah, that was the needed hint. Thanks a lot! An other question: Is it possible, to force a page-break? I would like to add several \score-sections, which should generate the voices of the used instruments of staff after the full score. The intend is, to generate the full score and the extract for the individual instruments in one PDF-File. does 2nd ending closing }} somehow effect a previous \transpose
In the piece pasted below, Benedicite by Dan Goggin from the musical Nunsense, there appears to be a problem with the \transpose and the second ending. The \transpose is on line 70, the 2nd ending on line 93. When I close the second ending all the notes after that measure are no longer transposed. I had the 2nd ending close after just one measure and noticed the notes from the next measure to the end of the piece did not get transposed, so I moved the two closing }} to a few measures furthor, and again, the notes after the closing }} did not get transposed. I have had to move the }} to the very end of the piece to get all the notes transposed. This seems rather strange, and I have seen it happen before, and I've used \transpose alot on other pieces. The manual just says nothing about it :-( I agree that the manual should probably be more clear here. I have an example that I would be happy to add which clarifies one of your next questions. As I've said before, please tell me exactly what section(s) should changed, and exactly what should be changed or added. I'll be happy to modify it accordingly. And give you credit for those changes. I don't understand everything that LilyPond does, and I prefer not to write docs for stuff I don't understand. If I don't get detailed instructions, I'll probably try to learn about this stuff in a few months and fix anything I had problems with. If you want it fixed sooner than that, you'll need to give me detailed instructions. In case you're curious, I'm a string player (cello and viola). If something normally happens in string music, you can assume I know how to do it in LilyPond. If it doesn't occur normally in string music (lyrics, transposition, chords, ancient notation, percussion notation, piano staff switches, tabs), then it's pretty safe to assume that you know more than me. In those cases, it's much better for you to write a revision or addition to the docs, instead of me trying to fumble around. I can fix grammar and spelling; I can't explain something I don't understand. Cheers, - Graham ___ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user

OK, so now the question is "is this the best place / should this be the only place for this info?" I don't think so; IMO nothing should only be documented in the tutorial. Normally I'd ask for suggestions for another place to put this info, but I'm already planning a revised chapter for global lilypond file issues.
