[LEDE-DEV] mikrotik sysupgrade support in 17.01.2

2017-06-20 Thread John Ricardo
Hello,

I see the nand-utils package was added to the initramfs. Is it now possible to
do a sysupgrade on the mikrotik routers? Will I have to netboot from
releases/17.01.2/targets/ar71xx/mikrotik/lede-17.01.2-ar71xx-mikrotik-vmlinux-initramfs.elf
and then do the sysupgrade from there?

Thanks,
John

I was able to upgrade my router from 15.01 to 17.01.2. I did the following:
1 booted my router using tftpboot like
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/rb493g
after that I did a wget to get
lede-17.01.2-ar71xx-mikrotik-nand-large-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
from my other router. Then I ran:
sysupgrade lede-17.01.2-ar71xx-mikrotik-nand-large-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
it rebooted to factory defaults. A little reprogramming to get it back
to my normal and things are working pretty good.

I don't know if I needed to tftpboot from
https://downloads.lede-project.org/releases/17.01.2/targets/ar71xx/mikrotik/lede-17.01.2-ar71xx-mikrotik-vmlinux-initramfs.elf
but I figured better safe than sorry. I hope the
next release I can just sysupgrade from luci.

[LEDE-DEV] ar711xx MikroTik conflicting image recommendation

2017-02-05 Thread John Ricardo
Hello Everyone,

I just purchased a MikroTik RB493G that I would like to try 17.01-rc1 on. I
found the page:
https://lede-project.org/docs/targets/ar71xx
and it says to use the generic ar71xx images

However
https://lede-project.org/toh/start?dataflt%5BBrand*%7E%5D=mikrotik&dataflt%5BModel*%7E%5D=rb493g
refers me to openwrt.org and a page that hasn't been touched since 12.09.

I have also read the thread
MikroTik RouterBoard ar71xx changes by Felix Fietkau but it lacks detailed
directions for me to follow.

Which imsage should I use and what is the best way to try it out?

Thanks,
John

I read the directions from the openwrt site and I think the LEDE
ram image I want to use is this:
lede-17.01.0-rc1-r3042-ec095b5-ar71xx-mikrotik-vmlinux-initramfs.elf

I don't see a sysupgrade image in
https://downloads.lede-project.org/releases/17.01.0-rc1/targets/ar71xx/mikrotik/

Where do I find it?

Thanks,

[LEDE-DEV] 17.01-rc2 install on wrt1200ac

2017-02-13 Thread John Ricardo
I just updated from openwrt 15.05.01 to lede 17.01-rc2 on my WRT1200AC. The
update went well but you can't keep your settings. Once I unchecked the keep
settings option the update worked great. In the few minutes I have been using
it the wifi is much better than openwrt. Before my android would take about 5
seconds to connect and occasionally drop and reconnect to the router. Now my
phone connects in a second and it seems more reliable. Please keep up the good
work.

Now if I can lede on my mikrotik and IPv6 working I would be a very a happy
person.

[LEDE-DEV] MikroTik RB493G supported?

2017-02-23 Thread John Ricardo
I noticed that the MikroTik RB493G has been removed from the list of supported
devices.  Why was that?  What would it take to add it back?  I have serial
access so I can pull logs.  I don't want to risk installing 17.01 after reading
the thread: MikroTik RB411AH sysupgrade issues.
