[libreoffice-l10n] Fwd: RFC to remove "Input Method Status" menu option and implementation
Hi all, This was posted on the dev@ list, maybe for those who use an IMS, you could give feedback? Thanks in advance Cheers Sophie Message transféré Sujet : RFC to remove "Input Method Status" menu option and implementation Date : Mon, 18 Jun 2018 15:14:56 +0200 De : Tomaž Vajngerl Pour : libreoffice-dev Hi, In Writer, File->View we have "Input Method Status" option, which is for me in "disabled" status ~all the time and I guess for others too. The gerrit patch in [1] has a proposal to remove this from the menu, but before we proceed with that it would be good to get some consensus if this is "safe" to do. In the help file [2] it says this is only implemented for IIIMP IM framework in Linux that wasn't really used much and quickly replaced by SCIM and later with IBUS. If that's true this function doesn't work practically for nobody. Looking into the code this depends on X11 and isn't really implemented for anything else. X11 is already in the way out itself. If somebody is more familiar with this, can give more information about it and if this would be safe to remove? If we can agree with the removal, I'll apply the patch and remove the code from VCL. [libreoffice-l10n] Note to translators in NatNum12 help files
Hi all, In the patch for NatNum12 function's help, there is a note for translators that I copy and paste here (thanks Laszlo for adding it): --- tdf#115007 add NatNum12 help and ask translators for extending language support in number and date formatting by extending the newly integrated libnumbertext (http://www.numbertext.org) and default date formats of LibreOffice: Translators: (1) please, modify the list of NatNum12 functions according to libnumbertext language support of your language. Other arguments could be ordinal-feminine, ordinal-masculine, ordinal-neuter, formal, article, etc. To show the available NatNum12 arguments of your language, open https://numbertext.github.io/#testimonials in a browser, and select "Functions (help)" in the pop-up menu. As you can see in the examples for NatNum12 date formats and in the extended en_US.xml and hu_HU.xml locale data files, it's possible to support also special number formatting needs of your language, including spelling out numbers, money amounts and dates with automatic selection of prepositions [like Catalan "de" or "d'" before month names], articles [Hungarian "a" or "az"] and suffixes [in Hungarian or likely Estonian, Finnish, Turkish etc. languages: "in", "from", "to" etc. suffixes of day and month names], check http://numbertext.org or write your questions on LibreOffice l10n mailing list. [libreoffice-l10n] Fwd: [libreoffice-website] Multilingual LibreOffice website
Hi all, Jean would like to make language site more prominent and is asking your feedback on what he is trying to implement. Cheers Sophie Message transféré Sujet : [libreoffice-website] Multilingual LibreOffice website Date : Mon, 13 Aug 2018 06:15:55 -0700 (MST) De : Jean Spiteri Pour : webs...@global.libreoffice.org Thanks to the huge international community around The Document Foundation, numerous volunteers (and non-) work to maintain a version of the LibreOffice website in their own language. Especially, when these are kept up-to-date, these versions should be promoted, maybe not as substitutes for the official English website but as local complementary resources. It could also be that, for a user, knowing that there are other people talking his own language in the community might lead him to more motivation than seeing the community as a group of English-speaking individuals. This consideration is especially valid as work is being carried out to have more volunteers on board. Thus, to promote the different versions of the LibreOffice website better, it is being proposed to add a small notification bar on top of the menu to hint the user about the availability of a local version of the website. This mailing post is being submitted to call for feedback about this addition to the LibreOffice website before asking administrators to implement it on the official website. If you want to see what is the output of the proposal, please visit newdesign.libreoffice.org. On top of the green menu bar, there should be a black banner with some text on it. The actual proposal is that the banner is seen only by those who have set a primary language other than English (US) in their browser. However, to allow testing, this has been overridden to show up always. (Please note that those who have English (US) set as their browser's primary language will see incomplete text - This is expected.) As a call to action, the community is being asked to give its feedback about the proposal. Feel free to comment about the output or report any bugs you might encounter. [libreoffice-l10n] Plural forms in Pootle
Hi all, It seems some language settings in Pootle are missing the plural form now that it has been added to master. If so, please send a mail here (instead of in Pootle) and indicate the plural form that would work for your language. There is a listing of plural forms here: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/30/supplemental/language_plural_rules.html and a table with the corresponding equation here: http://docs.translatehouse.org/projects/localization-guide/en/latest/l10n/pluralforms.html Check that this table has no error and ask the equation to be added to your language. If you are not using Pootle, I guess it has to be added to the header of your .po files. For me, when translating FR strings with plural forms, it gives a critical error, I guess we will have to adapt pocheck script. But Christian is on vacation this week, so I'll see with him when he is back. [libreoffice-l10n] Fwd: [libo-marketing-priv] Marketing/Community Budgets for 2019
Hi all, I'm transferring this mail from Italo about budget and local activities in 2019. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any question. Cheers Sophie Message transféré Sujet : [libo-marketing-priv] Marketing/Community Budgets for 2019 Date : Thu, 13 Dec 2018 13:15:30 +0100 De : Italo Vignoli Répondre à : it...@documentfoundation.org Organisation : The Document Foundation Pour : LO Marketing Private In order to improve the management of the marketing/community budget for 2019, we ask native language communities to provide the following: 1. A list of objectives you would like to pursue in 2019. Please avoid wishful thinking, and stick to realistic objectives. A few examples: organize a meeting with public administrations to educate them about LibreOffice and ODF; organize a local LibreOffice Conference; reimburse volunteers travelling around the country to present LibreOffice and ODF at local events. 2. For each objective, provide a rationale and a sensible amount of money. Again, we are spending donations money, and we must be extremely cautious both with requests and with approvals. Requests missing a rationale or easy to understand details will not be approved. 3. For requests equal or exceeding 1,000 euro, you must provide the outline of a project, because a large amount of money is probably covering different expenses (people, suppliers, events) and budget approvers should be allowed to have a clear picture of what they approve. Examples of activities which TDF will provide a budget for: 1. community events (aimed at getting face-time for community contributors) 2. marketing activities (aimed at representing the project to the outside world) 3. targeted projects (for instance, promoting LibreOffice in schools) In addition, we ask you to provide a list, if any, of infrastructure related requests, such as - for example - additional computing power or new services for your native language community. The idea is to keep the administrative overhead as low as possible, and have two authorizers responsible for each budget. TDF BoD will provide a budget bucket for marketing and one for community. Budget requests will be associated to the relevant budget, and then approved by budget approvers (according to the availability of funds). As a sample, a request could look like this: ## We'd like to request a 2017 budget of 1000 € for community events and 1500 € for marketing. Expenses we envision are 1. marketing: attendance at XYZ trade show to show LibreOffice to ABC user group (700 € booth costs, 300 € for collaterals and 500 € of travel, totalling to 1500 €), 2. community: a community weekend to discuss tasks and ideas (600 € hotel, 100 € for snacks and 300 € travel, totalling to 1000 €). ## Before sending any budget request, please read carefully TDF policies: Travel: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/Policies/Travel Refunding: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/Policies/Refunding Community Refunding: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/Policies/Community_Refunds Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2019, in order to have amounts approved during FOSDEM meetings. [libreoffice-l10n] Open Badges for LibreOffice contributions
Hi all, I'm working with Mike Saunders on implementing the Open Badges system in our community: https://openbadges.org Mike is working with the Design project to get some badges with LibreOffice identity. Guilhem is working on the infra side to see how to automate the process. In the meantime, I would like to ask you what would be the basis in your opinion to get badges. If you read what OpenBadges is, it's not only about contributions but also awarding skills. Those badges get more and more recognized by companies and universities, so it's also an opportunity for contributors to add to their experience. The link in the dialog box will point to this wiki page here: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/HowTo/MigrateFromHSQLDB It is empty for the moment but documentation team is working on it (a preview of the structure is on Drew page here https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/User:Drew/tmpMA The page will be marked for translation with the wiki translation extension. From what I understood during the ESC call last week (see the minutes at the end of this mail), it is transitional until the assistant does its job. For the moment, some cases are not took into account during the migration and can mess the database, this is what will be explained in the how-to, what you should do if your database is out of what the migration tool can process. The wiki page will adapt to the progress of the migration assistant until it's able to migrate all or most types of databases. Drew will blog also about the progress. [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate instance for testing purposes
Hi all, We have deployed a Weblate instance for testing purpose here: https://vm137.documentfoundation.org/ You can login with your Pootle account. Cloph has updated it with the last strings from master. *NOTE*: *it is for testing purpose only*, the test will go-on until end of LibOCon and we will make a decision about migration from Pootle to Weblate after this test. Anonymous making suggestions are not reflected here, only those belonging to a group are able to test. Your feedback is very welcome of course, we will take it into account before making a decision. Cheers Sophie Message transféré Sujet : [libreoffice-projects] Infra announce: Authenticating against gerrit using TDF's Single Sign-On system Date : Sun, 15 Sep 2019 13:28:56 +0200 De : Guilhem Moulin Répondre à : hostmas...@documentfoundation.org Pour : libreoff...@lists.freedesktop.org, libreoffice...@lists.freedesktop.org, documentat...@global.libreoffice.org, proje...@global.libreoffice.org Copie à : hostmas...@documentfoundation.org, webs...@global.libreoffice.org Dear developers, Please visit https://user.documentfoundation.org/edit (use your Single Sign-On credentials to authenticate — if you don't have an account there then please create one) and check whether you have “Gerrit” in the “Linked profiles” section. If not, then add the preferred email address of your gerrit account [0] to the form above; a confirmation token will then be delivered to that address, and “Gerrit” should appear in the “Linked profiles” section after confirmation. About 68% of the gerrit accounts who uploaded a patch set in the past 30 days are known to the Single Sign-On system. These accounts can use TDF's new OAuth2 IdP at https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/login/ i.e., authenticate through The Document Foundation's Single Sign-On system. Unfortunately, due to the way the OAuth2 plugin work, if you try a new IdP that is not linked to your existing gerrit account, then a *brand new* account is created. (This is no different than for other providers like GitHub or Google.) If that happens, then please *do not* start using the new account, instead ask us to merge them ASAP at hostmas...@documentfoundation.org (or on IRC at #tdf-infra). While merging a fresh account is painless, the logic is more brittle (there is risk of breaking referential integrity) if they're both actively used, so again please poke us ASAP. In the not too distant future, TDF's OAuth2 IdP will become the *only* way to authenticate against our gerrit instance: authenticating using other OAuth2 or OpenID providers will no longer be possible. We're unable to give a precise ETA right now, as we need a higher ratio of patchsets authors in SSO, but that will definitely be *in 2019*. Later this week we'll individually poke all recent patchsets authors that are still unknown from our Single Sign-On system. Once we deprecate other OAuth2 and OpenID providers, gerrit accounts that are still missing from SSO will be effectively *locked out* until an infra team member manually tie them up to the relevant LDAP DIT entry. FWIW finalizing the migration to TDF's OAuth2 IdP is a prerequisite for upgrading gerrit to more recent versions (with shiny new Web UI, ed25519 SSH key support, CodeMirror editor plugin, and more [1]). -- Guilhem, for The Document Foundation's infra team. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate: Missing features, project folder view and search across the whole project

I'm not sure to understand your question, but it's just like on Pootle, you go from one untranslated string to another. What I've done to get a better view of what I've to translate is to activate the Untranslated column (click on the last icon after the column names and check Untranslated) in the dashboard and I sorted the view by this column. [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate, where we stand currently
Hi all, I know how it's difficult to change a so important tool and our work habits, so first I wanted to thank you all for your participation in a constructive way to the test and the migration. Some information on where we stand: - Christian is currently adding Amagama to the translation memory, we hope that will speed up the process - The main problem seems that we can't download all files in one step, here also Christian is looking at a way to download via Gerrit and avoid using command line and API. - Since the migration is not over, Weblate is not running on it's own hardware yet, so that might be the problem we meet with the slowness on some tasks, this is something we are monitoring - we have form a group with OpenSuse, KDE and Fedora to push and share our development needs. We will have a workshop during FOSDEM, if you are there, please join the discussion :) Don't hesitate to send your feedback to the list or to me, we need it to improve the tool to best suits our needs.
