[libreoffice-l10n] STR_EMDASH_SEPARATOR

2023-01-17 Thread Heiko Tietze
With the latest patch [1] for bug 146638 [2] the localizable string
STR_EMDASH_SEPARATOR was introduced. It is used in the application's title bar
instead of the previously hard-coded hyphen.

before: "Untitle 1 - LibreOffice Writer"
now: "Untitle 1 — LibreOffice Writer"

Translators can adjust this string to any other text. But please mind the spaces
before and after the separator!

@all: who would like to participate to such a session? We could try to
organize it on Friday afternoon for example or next week?

Yes, it would be nice to have a call.
We talked about it with other Italian translators, and me and Valter are
interested to take part.

Thanks!
In the evening it should be easier for us, but we can arrange also for
Friday afternoon.

Let's see if other would join and decide on the time then
As an alternative, it is possible to record a short video showing the
issue and upload it on TDF's Nextcloud.

That's a good idea, in the meantime, maybe that would help Christian.
Cheers
Sophie

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] STR_EMDASH_SEPARATOR

2023-01-17 Thread Heiko Tietze
Sorry, if I was not clear. The new string is only in master (7.5 is in
sstring/UI freeze) and the message is a heads-up for the next release.

Weblate reflects 7.5, so please wait a few days until the new string shows up.
The key id is generated when the code variable is transferred, I don't know what
it will be. I suggest to search for " — ".

How can this string be found ? (KeyID ?)

[libreoffice-l10n] Outline numbering improvements to en_US will apply to most locales

2023-01-17 Thread Justin Luth

Hi. I have been working on tdf bug 56258 related to improving numbering
outline list formats.

First of all, I wanted to inform that I made all of the locales that had
identical LC_NumberingLevel definitions to instead just refer to
ref="en_US", meaning that any improvements to the US numbering will
automatically apply to these locales as well. At this point, no changes
have been made to this simple list.
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/144890

Secondly, I have added the ability to specify whether numbering should
be left or right (or center) aligned. Roman numerals and old Hungarian
tends to look much better when they are right aligned. The built-in
numbering styles already did that, and I extended it so that it can also
work for these LC_OutlineNumberingLevel definitions. See
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/144978 where this was done for
en_US.xml.

I only changed en_US, but of course many other locales are also using
NumType="3" and NumType="4". If your locale is not referencing en_US,
you probably want to make the same changes if any of your levels use
upper or lower roman-numbering.

Thirdly, for en_US I also tweaked three of the outline levels. (You can
find these lists in the Format menu, under “Bullets and Numbering –
Outline tab”.) Specifically, I made these changes:

I.A.i.a) → I.A.1.a.i.

1.a) → 1) a) 1) A)

1. (a) i. A. → A.1.a.1.
