KX-T: KX-TD816 wiring help for extensions!

2008-07-05 Thread Russ Hay
Hi (again!) all,

and apologies in advance for my low-level questions. I have an
existing KX-TD816 PBX operating in the UK with eight extensions. The
handsets are (master) KX-T7433 and the rest are KX-T7420 (some seem to
be KX-T7420E's if that makes a difference).

I've foolishly sourced an additional handset - and as I wanted a
display, I've found a KX-T7130E. However - when it's swapped out for
one of the existing handsets, although the display lights with the
date&time, it cannot place or receive a call. The handset sounds as
though there's an open line.

Now the manual states that there's a mandatory four pin wiring
required for the 7130E - A,B,L,H (?) which although I can't reference
it to the particular pin-outs in use, I can confirm that the existing
handsets are all connected back to the PBX using four pin wiring.
Therefore - do you have any suggestions (apart from RTFM!) for how I
can progress this?

My main issue right now is that I can't verify that the four-pin
wiring used throughout is a correct four-pin wiring, and isn't simply
the one-pair wiring (L,H) with the other pair wired incorrectly... as
if that was the case, the 7420 & 7433 would still operate - but the
new 7130 would not.

Any constructive suggestions would be much appreciated!

Russ

Hi Russ,

Assuming that the 2 pair cabling is connected properly, analog sets like the
7130 will NOT work if XDP is assigned to that port (pgm 600).

Analog sets need a separate talk and data path, unlike the digital sets
which use the data pair for both talk and data.

Let us know if that's the problem.

Good luck!

You need 2-pair (XDP off) for the 7130 to work. If you want FULL
functionality of the 7130 (whisper paging), you will need 3-pairs.
