[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1825678] Re: Intel wifi fails to resume after suspend
The same bug happens in Kubuntu 19.04. Since I've now bought a USB WiFi dongle, I can now file a report from a laptop where the internal WiFi card is down. apport-collect information included below, the key highlights are: iwlwifi :03:00.0: Error, can not clear persistence bit (full context in CurrentDmesg.txt) ** Tags added: disco ** Description changed: Yesterday my WiFi card(Intel Wireless 3165) didn't show up on resuming the laptop from a suspend state. I rebooted a few times and found that the situation hadn't changed. Rebooting and choosing older kernels didn't help. I ran lspci and discovered my WiFi card was missing in the output. I shut down the laptop assuming my WiFi card suffered a hardware failure. In the evening, after starting up from a full shutdown, the WiFi card worked again. Today, the situation happened again, but I approached the debugging more methodically. I looked at nmcli and found it still saw my wifi card but found it unavailable. lspci could still see the Wifi card in the last position. I analyzed dmesg output and discovered an iwlwifi crash(the relevant part of dmesg is provided in wifi_dmesg.txt attachment). Then, I rebooted the laptop. This didn't fix the issue and from a quick look at lspci, the wifi card was missing again. So I repeated the procedure that worked the previous day - full shutdown, wait 10 seconds, then start up. This restored my WiFi card to a working state and allowed me to file this bug report. I will be happy to provide any further information that could read to fixing this issue. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1825678] Re: Intel wifi fails to resume after suspend
After finding a few reports of similar issues caused by a hardware problem, I replaced the WiFi card. For a month since, I've had no issues, which suggests it was a hardware problem. Therefore, I'd like to close this report -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825678 Title: Intel wifi fails to resume after suspend Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-hwe package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Yesterday my WiFi card(Intel Wireless 3165) didn't show up on resuming the laptop from a suspend state. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 2049220] Re: Update firmware for MT7921 in order to fix Framework 13 AMD 7040
I think the build time on both my and your firmware is the same, and unchanged since the package installation. Your issue has a much more reliable test, my issue manifested intermittently (and no longer manifests since installing the updated firmware). QApt is just the GUI deb installer in Kubuntu, installing via dpkg should be exactly the same. If I'm understanding @suprem1 correctly, there are actually two related firmwares used by the same driver. It's possible that dmesg always shows the build version of the first one of them, while only the second one was updated. That second firmware would then be solving my issue but not yours. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2049220 Title: Update firmware for MT7921 in order to fix Framework 13 AMD 7040 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux-firmware source package in Jammy: Fix Committed Status in linux-firmware source package in Mantic: Fix Committed Status in linux-firmware source package in Noble: Fix Released Bug description: [SRU Justification] BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2049220 [Impact] MT7921 - IPv6 no longer working (Not receiving Multicast). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 2052376] Re: Speakers make the sound of sand when audio is played over HDMI in stereo mode
Also happens when using laptop speakers to listen to the soundtrack of Legend of Keepers in the main menu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-ucm-conf in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2052376 Title: Speakers make the sound of sand when audio is played over HDMI in stereo mode Status in alsa-ucm-conf package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Since updating the package from 1.2.6.3-1ubuntu1.9 to 1.2.6.3-1ubuntu1.10, when playing audio from a speaker connected over HDMI, using the default stereo audio preset adds the sound of sand to the audio being played. Switching to the 5.1 audio preset fixes the issue. In case it's relevant: My HDMI port is connected to an NVIDIA GPU, which is the dedicated GPU in the laptop.
