[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1679898] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu VM crash during Hyper-V backup or live migration after installing kernel 4.4.0-72
I see this issue too. It is easy to get with a 4.4 kernel if you have an SSD hooked up to the Windows host and then you connect the SSD to the Hyper-V VM via the SCSI controller in passthrough mode. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1180419] Re: Ringtail on Hyper-V causes BUG: scheduling while atomic
I've tested linux-image-generic:amd64 3.8.0.30.48 running on Windows 2012 and the BUG/backtrace has gone. Brad: Your comments may have been a bit overly automated as the tags in this bug already contained verification-done when you added your comment (so you in turn set verification-done). Although your comment didn't mention it, I've changed verification-needed-raring to verification-done-raring so hopefully the right thing will happen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180419 Title: Ringtail on Hyper-V causes BUG: scheduling while atomic Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Raring: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Saucy: Fix Released Bug description: Ringtail 3.8.0-19-generic on Hyper-v, bears at least a slight resemblance to to #752064 This is hand copied, as it's not showing up in messages [ 23.921.954] BUG: scheduling while atomic: swapper/0/0x1100 [ 168.973600] end request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 16786984 [ 168.973780] Buffer I/O error on device sda1, logical block 2098117 Similar messages repeat a few times, until it starts complaining about an offline device. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 403303] Re: power manager reports 1% battery even though it is full on Asus Eee PC netbook
Rob Smith: This is an old (and resolved) issue - generally speaking issues that have been fixed and haven't seen activity for years won't see helpful/friendly followups when you post to them... > It has been explained that this is an Asus based problem Pretty much. Whoever wrote the BIOS in the EeePC 701/900 followed the non-rechargeable battery part of the ACPI spec even though the battery is rechargeable (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15979#c4 ). This is bad in all sorts of ways... > Why can't Debian/Ubuntu see the battery correctly They can if you use a kernel with a workaround in it (2.6.35 -stable or later see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15979#c50 ) - i.e. this issue will appear fixed to you in Ubuntu 10.10 and later. If you know how to compile your own kernels you can fix this on Ubuntu 10.04 (or earlier) by installing a 2.6.35 or later -stable kernel or backporting the patch but don't even attempt to do this if you don't know what you're doing! Since Ubuntu 10.04 is not supported on desktops anymore moving to a later Ubuntu (or another recent distro) is by far the best option. > but Xandros Linux (and Windows XP) can I believe Xandros's GUI battery program had been hardcoded to understand the faulty information and correct for it but it's been years since I last had Xandros around to boot it. For Windows XP I don't know how the battery is read internally - perhaps the way its ACPI battery reading was written happened to cope with this particular type of bad battery information (and if BIOS testing only happened against Windows then no one would know it was being done wrong until it was too late). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/403303 Title: power manager reports 1% battery even though it is full on Asus Eee PC netbook Status in DeviceKit based power management D-Bus backend: Unknown Status in “devicekit-power” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager after logging in, I see a dialog box that says my battery may be broken and that it only has 1% charge, yet it's been plugged in for a long time, and the battery meter shows that it's full. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 2085162] Re: Bluetooth headphones connect erratically
Thanks to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/2084963/comments/4 I've been able to manually rebuild the bluez debs with a patch of commit https://github.com/bluez/bluez/commit/366a8c522b648f47147de4852c5c030d69b916b3 and my headphone connection woes have been solved. I'll attach the patch here. ** Patch added: "bluez-fix-address.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/2085162/+attachment/5834952/+files/bluez-fix-address.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2085162 Title: Bluetooth headphones connect erratically Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Description of the problem A pair of Sony Sony WH-H900N Bluetooth headphones often refuses to re-connect with a Lenovo V15 G2 ALC laptop. These headphones pair without trouble to a MacBook Pro and an Android phone. Step to reproduce: 1. Put the headphones into discovery mode. 2. Go to Settings -> Bluetooth and connect to the headphones. 3. Reboot the laptop. 4. Go to Settings -> Bluetooth 5. Click on the headphones. 6. Try to connect to the headphones. 7. If step 6. fails try to disconnect. 8. Go to step 6. Expected result: After step 6 for headphones to be connected and for headphones to announce "Bluetooth connected". Actual result: Sometimes the "connected" slider slides back to unconnected. Sometimes the slider remains "on" but the headphones don't announce that they are connected and no headphones appear in sound settings. How reproducible is the problem: Fairly reproducible. It can sometimes takes 30 or more connection attempts before a real connection is established. I've just run into this with Ubuntu 24.04.2. As previously mentioned it was initially fixed in OpenZFS 2.3.0 (the commit that went in for that tag is https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/6f50f8e16b7c4a3f1925b41e3d47b479cd7b2d9f ). The fix was also backported to OpenZFS 2.2.7 (the commit for that is https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/30ea442961df9d8174ea15b9157b4ecac3472602 ). I will attach the 2.2.7 here to make this more visible in case Ubuntu 24.04 doesn't plan a move to OpenZFS 2.2.7 in the lifetime of 24.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2089324 Title: memcpy: detected field-spanning write (size 15) of single field "(char *)(lr + 1)" at dkms/build/zfs/2.2.6/build/module/zfs/zfs_log.c:515 (size 0) Status in Native ZFS for Linux: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in zfs-linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in linux source package in Oracular: Invalid Status in zfs-linux source package in Oracular: Triaged Bug description: [ 36.228964] memcpy: detected field-spanning write (size 15) of single field "(char *)(lr + 1)" at /build/linux-3mFFjP/linux-6.11.0/debian/build/build-generic/dkms/build/zfs/2.2.6/build/module/zfs/zfs_log.c:514 (size 0) [ 36.228990] WARNING: CPU: 11 PID: 6201 at /build/linux-3mFFjP/linux-6.11.0/debian/build/build-generic/dkms/build/zfs/2.2.6/build/module/zfs/zfs_log.c:514 do_zfs_log_rename+0x166/0x1b0 [zfs] [ 36.229376] Modules linked in: veth zfs(PO) spl(O) nvme_tcp nvme_keyring nft_masq snd_seq_dummy snd_hrtimer ccm vhost_vsock vmw_vsock_virtio_transport_common vhost vhost_iotlb vsock xt_CHECKSUM xt_MASQUERADE xt_conntrack ipt_REJECT nf_reject_ipv4 xt_tcpudp nft_compat nft_chain_nat nf_nat nf_conntrack nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv4 nf_tables libcrc32c bridge stp llc qrtr rfcomm cmac algif_hash algif_skcipher af_alg bnep overlay binfmt_misc snd_acp_legacy_mach nls_iso8859_1 snd_acp_mach snd_soc_nau8821 snd_acp3x_rn snd_acp3x_pdm_dma snd_soc_dmic snd_sof_amd_acp63 snd_sof_amd_vangogh snd_sof_amd_rembrandt snd_sof_amd_renoir snd_sof_amd_acp snd_sof_pci snd_sof_xtensa_dsp snd_ctl_led snd_sof snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_sof_utils snd_hda_codec_generic snd_pci_ps snd_hda_scodec_component snd_amd_sdw_acpi snd_hda_codec_hdmi soundwire_amd soundwire_generic_allocation snd_hda_intel soundwire_bus amd_atl intel_rapl_msr amdgpu snd_intel_dspcfg intel_rapl_common snd_intel_sdw_acpi snd_soc_core snd_hda_codec iwlmvm snd_compress [ 36.229525] thinkpad_acpi ac97_bus snd_hda_core snd_pcm_dmaengine snd_hwdep nvram snd_rpl_pci_acp6x edac_mce_amd amdxcp mac80211 uvcvideo snd_acp_pci snd_seq_midi drm_exec btusb kvm_amd videobuf2_vmalloc snd_acp_legacy_common snd_seq_midi_event gpu_sched btrtl uvc videobuf2_memops libarc4 drm_buddy snd_rawmidi btintel tps6598x snd_pci_acp6x videobuf2_v4l2 drm_suballoc_helper kvm btbcm drm_ttm_helper videodev snd_pcm btmtk snd_seq snd_pci_acp5x ttm rapl iwlwifi videobuf2_common drm_display_helper think_lmi snd_rn_pci_acp3x snd_seq_device bluetooth mc cec snd_acp_config snd_timer r8169 firmware_attributes_class snd_soc_acpi rc_core cfg80211 snd snd_pci_acp3x ipmi_devintf i2c_algo_bit i2c_piix4 soundcore wmi_bmof sparse_keymap k10temp realtek ipmi_msghandler i2c_smbus platform_profile serial_multi_instantiate i2c_scmi input_leds joydev mac_hid sch_fq_codel efi_pstore nvme_fabrics nfnetlink dmi_sysfs ip_tables x_tables dm_crypt crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul polyval_clmulni polyval_ generic ghash_clmulni_intel [ 36.229691] rtsx_pci_sdmmc sha256_ssse3 video nvme sha1_ssse3 xhci_pci psmouse ucsi_acpi ccp xhci_pci_renesas rtsx_pci typec_ucsi nvme_core nvme_auth typec wmi serio_raw msr parport_pc ppdev lp parport autofs4 aesni_intel crypto_simd cryptd [ 36.229745] CPU: 11 UID: 100 PID: 6201 Comm: systemd-journal Tainted: P O 6.11.0-9-generic #9-Ubuntu [ 36.229753] Tainted: [P]=PROPRIETARY_MODULE, [O]=OOT_MODULE [ 36.229755] Hardware name: LENOVO 20UGS24N00/20UGS24N00, BIOS R1CET79W(1.48 ) 06/18/2024 [ 36.229759] RIP: 0010:do_zfs_log_rename+0x166/0x1b0 [zfs] [ 36.230096] Code: c9 e9 fe 44 a7 d1 48 8b 75 b8 31 c9 4c 89 45 d0 48 c7 c2 90 4d 05 c3 48 c7 c7 68 4e 05 c3 c6 05 88 65 13 00 01 e8 7a 0d 8a d0 <0f> 0b 48 8b 55 b8 48 8b 7d d0 4c 89 ee e8 08 31 a6 d1 e9 5d ff ff [ 36.230101] RSP: 0018:b878108af930 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 36.230106] RAX: RBX: 9cabbd1f4800 RCX: [ 36.230109] RDX: RSI: RDI: [ 36.230112] RBP: b878108af980 R08: R09: [ 36.230115] R10: R11: R12: 9cab0139ec00 [ 36
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2106491] [NEW] Network randomly went offline and had to be manually restarted (r8169)
Public bug reported: Description of the problem While in the middle of a copy the network interface (which uses the r8169 driver) went offline. Downing and then upping the interface restored connectivity. Steps to reproduce: 1. Check out a large subversion repository over HTTPS? Expected results: Network card to be online throughout the whole checkout. Actual result: Network card went offline and the following messages appeared in the logs: [89578.447799] r8169 :02:00.0 enp2s0: NETDEV WATCHDOG: CPU: 5: transmit queue 0 timed out 5640 ms [89578.447920] r8169 :02:00.0: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM control [89630.254720] r8169 :02:00.0 enp2s0: NETDEV WATCHDOG: CPU: 7: transmit queue 0 timed out 5001 ms [89630.254839] r8169 :02:00.0: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM control Additional information: On tty1 running the networkctl reported the following: # networkctl IDX LINK TYPE OPERATIONAL SETUP 1 lo loopback carrier unmanaged 2 enp2s0 etherdegradedconfigured 2 links listed. networkctl down enp2s0; networkctl down enp2s0 caused networkctl to then report # networkctl IDX LINK TYPE OPERATIONAL SETUP 1 lo loopback carrier unmanaged 2 enp2s0 etherroutableconfiguring 2 links listed. Before it finally went to the following: # networkctl IDX LINK TYPE OPERATIONAL SETUP 1 lo loopback carrier unmanaged 2 enp2s0 etherroutableconfigured 2 links listed. After doing some cleanup and the checkout was resumed and ran to completion. How reproducible is the problem? I've installed the system a day ago and this is the first and only time this has happened.
