[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1766377] Re: Ethernet E1000 Controller Hangs

2019-10-27 Thread Klaas DC
I also have this problem on an Intel DQ45CB mainboard with the onboard
Intel 82567LM-3 Gigabit ethernet controller. The syslog fills up with
following entries, while network connection is being reset. It does not
happen immediately after boot, but high throughput seems to trigger it.
I use the adapter in a bridge in a KVM server.

The CPU is an i7-6850 and it is configured with 128GB of DDR4 RAM.
This machine has a number of Qemu/KVM virtual guests and is using a software
bridge to share the interface.
This did not happen with 17.10 and 4.13.0 kernel. It is happening on
multiple machines here.

Title:
ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upon resuming from suspend-to-RAM, my Inateck USB 3.0 Gigabit ethernet
adapter stops working. Even after re-plugging the adapter, it is not possible
to use it anymore until the next reboot. Unplugging it does not make eth0
disappear in ifconfig or lsusb either.
The laptop is a Dell XPS15 9530 with kubuntu 13.10 and kernel package
"3.11.0-15-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP"

When trying to connect using the network manager applet, I get a lot
  of the following messages:

Title:
ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

Title:
ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upon resuming from suspend-to-RAM, my Inateck USB 3.0 Gigabit ethernet
adapter stops working. Even after re-plugging the adapter, it is not possible
to use it anymore until the next reboot. Unplugging it does not make eth0
disappear in ifconfig or lsusb either.
The laptop is a Dell XPS15 9530 with kubuntu 13.10 and kernel package
"3.11.0-15-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP"

When trying to connect using the network manager applet, I get a lot
  of the following messages:

Title:
ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1269386] Re: ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

2014-01-16 Thread Klaas DC
Just tested 3.13-rc8-trusty, and initially it seemed to work: the driver
reported the link status after resume. But as soon as I launched a browser
window, I was presented with a kernel panic in a text console. I could not save
the output as the computer was stuck at that point.
But, it actually got worse with the newer kernel.

Title:
ax88179_178a driver crashes on resume from suspend-to-RAM

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upon resuming from suspend-to-RAM, my Inateck USB 3.0 Gigabit ethernet
adapter stops working. Even after re-plugging the adapter, it is not possible
to use it anymore until the next reboot. Unplugging it does not make eth0
disappear in ifconfig or lsusb either.
The laptop is a Dell XPS15 9530 with kubuntu 13.10 and kernel package
"3.11.0-15-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP"

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1950895] [NEW] Realtek RTS5249 PCIe card reader only works during live cd

2021-11-14 Thread Klaas DC
Public bug reported:

My laptop is a Dell XPS 9530 and comes with a Realtek PCI Express SD card
reader.
I'm using a dualboot Win10/Xubuntu setup, but the card reader has been
problematic in Linux ever since a kernel upgrade years ago. To start from a
clean slate, I reinstalled XUbuntu 21.10 from scratch from the live CD.
First I checked within the live environment if the card reader worked and it
did. Only "Eject" gives an error but otherwise everything worked multiple times.

After installing to HD however, nothing happens when inserting a card.
Not even a dmesg entry.

When I run lspci, with the card still inserted, it is suddenly detected and
automounted in Thunar.
In dmesg appears:

[ 268.053725] mmc0: cannot verify signal voltage switch
[ 268.181990] mmc0: new ultra high speed SDR104 SDHC card at address e624
[ 268.244413] mmcblk0: mmc0:e624 SL16G 14.8 GiB
[ 268.262138] mmcblk0:
[ 283.766834] mmcblk0:

lspci gave:
07:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS5249 PCI
Express Card Reader (rev 01)

I cannot unmount the card however, and any new attempts to get it
detected by removing and inserting the card, running lspci again, fail.
The disk entry in Thunar is basically stuck until reboot.
