[kde-freebsd] Renaming KDE4 ports

2010-09-05 Thread David Naylor
Hi,

With the introduction of KDE4 many ports were duplicated and ended up getting
-kde4 suffixes. Is there any "official" policy in renaming ports (dropping the
suffix)?

The example I am interest in is devel/kdesvn-kde4. Originally there was
devel/kdesvn however that port has been moved.

Regards,

David

[kde-freebsd] FreeBSD branded artwork?

2010-09-05 Thread David Naylor
Hi,

Ivan Cukic posted [1] a FreeBSD branded wallpaper. Could this be included in
the KDE ports?

Apologies if this is already (quietly) in the works.

Regards,

David

I'd leave -kde4 suffix in directory name, but it surely can be removed from
package name. Btw, most of kde4 ports do not have suffix in pkgname, even when
corresponding kde3 port is still there (e.g. k3b ports).

Thanks, that was the trick to get my mail working again. (and deleting the
8000 bogus messages that had been copied to my imap server.)

Pressing my luck I tried the same tactic with kontact, but still no luck.
It locks up on the tip of the day window. If I run it from the command line
this is what I get.

At this point it shows the summary screen, which appears to be working. It
also shows the tip of the day on top of that, but completely unresponsive.
If you click the X to end the application it waits the 20 sec and KDE
complains that Kontact is not responding.

This is the same response I was getting from KDE4.3 when I was running it
with FreeBSD 7.3.

Is this just something that's messed up and won't work, or do I still have
something messed up myself?

Joe.

[kde-freebsd] Can't use KMail, akonadi not starting

2010-09-05 Thread david
Just finished upgrading to 4.5.1, and can no longer use KMail. This makes
me deeply sad. The problem appears to be akonadi not starting. I get the
following messages when running akonadictl start:

I assume there is something wrong with my MySQL installation, but not
being a database guy, I have no idea. mysqld is running. Any help out
there?

Please update, fix for akonadi was committed to ports tree some hours ago.
