In the SystemConfigure -> Sound -> Backend, I see Xine is on top of
gstreamer.
But I can not see "default" there...
Em...I guess you have the mixer and it's in a proper volume...
My sound will be gone if the "vol" and "pcm" are both below 20, no
matter whether I am in kde or command line...

I have my sound running, meanwhile, also. Seems to be some order you need to 
stick to during install.
Several times I deinstalled everything, cleaned homedir and /usr/local/kde4 
and rebuilt everything from fresh area51. I think last order was xine, then 
qt4 with no phonon, then multimedia/phonon and kde things afterwards 
beginning with kdelibs4.
Are you using another backend/player than xine? Once working, I had no issue 
with juk?
