[krita] [Bug 440494] Text Color is overwritten
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440494 --- Comment #2 from Nikola --- I've noticed that this happens when I have the addon Pigment.IO enabled in the settings. When disabling the addon(and restarting for the change to take effect), the text tool handles the color as it should. Tried few sessions with the addon turned `on` and `off`, and in all `on` sessions the automatic color change was there. I've contacted the addon developer and here is his statement: "I don’t think that is something that is for me to solve at least just yet, that seems like a PreAlpha issue I never work on Alphas because they are unstable. on 4.4.5 it is working properly as expected when I do that. As you can see on your video you set the Orange color for the text but the color on the canvas was still on Red the whole time. So you had orange for the vector text but not for the color on the canvas as they did not match. Pigmento nor Tela own any values, they just check them in Krita and update themselves to it, and apply if you change them. If Krita does not matches itself then Pigmento and Tela will cause issues and spiral out of control as things never match with itself. Each cycle they have ends with an apply to be double sure everything is in line." I guess he is saying the issue is not with his addon, or at least because he does not develop for the nightly builds. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 424525] New: Wrong behavior of blending modes in CMYK

They appear to have been swapped. Additional thoughts 1. It could be that the cause of this error is the inverse color calculation for the CMYK color space. If document is saved in psd format and opened in Photoshop everything looks fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 424525] Wrong behavior of blending modes in CMYK
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424525 --- Comment #2 from nikola --- This is so uncommon in print industry. I gave example of Photoshop but multiply in CMYK works the same way in every software (raster, vector, layout, imposition) I worked with for 20 years (Agfa, Corel, Qaurk, Adobe,...). I respect your decision, but I think it is not wise to go against industry standard. It is not about what is wrong or right, rather, it is what is expected from professionals preparing their artwork for prepress/press. CMYK is a subtractive color model, meaning adding /e.g. multiplying/ all colors together produces rich black/Registration. Multiply should have the same visual output as overprint. I wish Krita nothing but best. This thing would be small step to make Krita more appreciated from people involved in press industry, rather than dealbreaker. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424525 --- Comment #4 from nikola --- OK. Second paragraph in my comment 2 is technical detail that is in line with yours but a little bit more in depth (prepress perspective). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 424525] Wrong behavior of blending modes in CMYK
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424525 --- Comment #6 from nikola --- Dmitry, thanks for the hint and I tried it. Unfortunately, I didn't seem to be clear. 1. Workaround for standard*1* multiply would be to select screen blending mode and vice versa. Thus, the whole process is without changing the color space and/or profile (so no unwanted color transformations) and with the expected blending. The color readings with picker are 100% correct all the time. 2. When the artwork is done set all the layers that have multiply to screen and set all screen layers to multiply. Export to psd and import into any layout software that can read psd and continue working on e.g. illustrated book. 3. Later, if you want to edit the file, layers are preserved. All you need to do is repeat the swapping with the opposite blending so you can see the correct output. Swap (multiply/screen) again before saving. All said for blend modes for layers apply for brushes too. standard*1* - If we agree that pdf is the most widely used standard in the print industry, Table 7.1 Standard separable blend modes roughly describes the behavior of blend modes in CMYK space as well as in space with spot colors. [krita] [Bug 392070] right click in number boxes in edit brush settings opens popup instead of allowing to type numbers.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392070 --- Comment #2 from nikola --- It is hard to think of usability reasons. Numbers that users want to enter manualy are small and faster to type than to copy and paste from clipboard via popup menu (e.g. for rotation: 90, 180, 270; for brush size 128). Novice users can use slider method. Proposal How about adding a setting (checkbox?) in preferences that omit this popup. It could be "only beta feature" so users can test it and discuss from experience before final decision is made. Note In Blender3D there is similar control that opens popup on right click. Left click allows direct input instead of using slider. Slider responds on left click + drag.
