It seems it doesn't happen when: ("Tool Options" docker) > "No smoothing", is
selected. Besides, I wasn't aware of Bug 369547 , sorry.

(I'm marking this as "resolved > fixed" for now... If you think yours is a
different issue then please, feel free to reopen this report or let me know.
Thanks! :)

Bug ID: 457470
Summary: (5.1.0-RC1 git 0640c07) - SYSTEM CRASH ON SELECTING
OLDER CUSTOM BRUSH PRESET
   Product: krita
Version: git master (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

Custom brush preset

SUMMARY
Latest stable appimage, fresh configs, just copied an older custom brush preset
(see attachment) to the painttopresets folder before launching krita (the
custom preset was created using previous
krita-5.1.0-beta2-ff115ccb7b-x86_64.appimage - june 2022). When trying to
select the custom preset from the choose brush preset window I get a sigsegv
and an hard system reboot is needed in order to continue to use the system.
Can't provide backtrace but I managed to record a video example.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. fresh configs and copy the attached custom preset to the
share/krita/painttopresets folder
2. start krita
3. click the "Choose brush preset" button on the toolbar and try to select the
custom preset (it's the first one in the list)

OBSERVED RESULT
System crash, hard shutdown needed

EXPECTED RESULT
Select the preset and paint

Hi, I can reproduce this on Linux with Krita 5 appimage as well. After a bit
of testing I guess that these three behaviours eventually cause the swap
between the Selection and Brush tools opacity and eraser modes:

- selection tools (Rectangular|Elliptical|Polygonal) -DO NOT- allow to
press the "Set eraser mode" button -WHILE- selection tools
(Freehand|Similar-color|Bezier|Magnetic) -DO-;

- selection tools (all) once selected, switch to their own opacity settings
-BUT- the "Set eraser mode" button doesn't change its status accordingly;

- selection tools (all) allow to access the "E" shorcut to enable/disable
eraser mode -BUT- the "Set eraser mode" button doesn't change its status
accordingly.

does the crash happen again without having imported your previously saved
resources? (you wrote "I backed all the things Iwanted to keep in an other
folder and made a bundle of my stuff befor deleting everything")

Hi Dmitry, thanks for helping with bug 447462 yesterday.:)
Yes, here I can reproduce the crash consistently with Build #1346 (27-Dec-2021

1. create a hidden pattern layer
2. add a paint layer
3. take a snapshot
4. select and trim to selection
5. switch to sbapshot

Please, let me know if you need further informations.

it would be nice to have the "Freehand Path Tool > Pencil" changes remembered

   2. restart

Actual Results: "Exactness" will reset to "0.50" (it was set to "0.10").
Expected Results: keep options changes through sessions (like brush smoothing).

Similarly, another issue (see 2nd video below):

1. fresh configs

Actual Results: the brush preset is the default one (lifting the pen it changes
to the last used).

- can you check with the latest 4.1.5 release?

- What do you mean with "everything"?

Here the Ink sumi preset bristle preset doesn't loose its color when switching
between mouse and pen. And its thickness doesn't change when using a mouse but
that is expected (tested using Krita 4.1.5 on Linux Ubuntu).

painting
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: freebo...@tiscali.it
  Target Milestone: ---

Thanks to devs for the great news features added recently in Krita.

About the round corners of the Rectangular selection tool, it seems that they
get ignored when painting (4.2.0-pre-alpha git 04931e4 - Ubuntu 14.04).
My steps:

1. CTRL+R and set round corners to say 20px
2. click and drag to create a selection (pixel selection)
3. paint over its borders (I'm using the Dry Roller preset)

Actual Results: rounded corners get ignored (no problem in Vector mode)
Expected Results: respect rounded corners

Hi Avelino, I just downloaded a fresh copy of a nightly build Appimage
(4.2.0-pre-alpha (git 95e1b63)) on Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and it works well. In
your case, I would try to:

1. close all Krita instances (if open),
2. rename the directory: $HOME/.local/share/krita/ and the file:
$HOME/.config/kritarc,
3. download the Appimage file again (check thet the download doesn't fail)
4. assign execute permissions to the Appimage file (I usually right click
the Appimage and check the Execute check-box),
5. double click on the Appimage file to start Krita.
