I have to say that this feature is needed for me too. A few apps that are
started on wayland with xwayland crash, freeze, incorrectly working and so on,
fixed before adding sleep to the launh command, but since the "new" way to
work, is imposible to use it again...

Yes please

Not being able to loop videos has been missing from gwenview for so long

gifs should loop first adhering to the loop setting and then adhering to the
rules of the slideshow rules. Thats it, keep looping if time is below image
time. Otherwise gifs end too fast when doing a slideshow

Hi, I have the same problem here, with the kubuntu 20.04 that I've installed
yesterday. I have no idea what it happening, but it may be useful to indicate
that I've also had problems with the dialog that is opened to switch among
connected screens (fn+F8 in my laptop), appeared frequently (same than here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Kubuntu/comments/g7szxk/switch_to_external_screen_bug/),
and I had to disable kscreen2.

Its likely that it happens in 17.08.3. It happened to me in 17.08.1 and I didnt
see any change related in git

I wasnt able to reproduce it either because if you resize the clip right after
you load it, it works, but if you do it at a later time, it doesnt

No idea what triggers it

I use transform instead of position and zoom now, so I dont have any project
with this problem around

[krita] [Bug 398689] Image disappears when zooming in after scale transform

2018-10-14 Thread Alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398689

Thank you for the update. I have a couple of questions regarding the bug status
and process as I'm still getting up to speed here.

1. Was someone able to isolate the specific OpenGL API call that is not working
as it's supposed to on a Mac OS Nvidia GPU? Do we have sufficient information
to resolve this bug?

2. If indeed it is a bug in Nvidia's driver on OS X, is there no code
workaround possible? I have not encountered a similar bug on other paint/image
editing applications on my Mac with this GPU.

3. Although Apple no longer ships new MacBook's with Nvidia GPU's, they are
still supported by Apple (I just updated my own Nvidia MacBook to MacOS
Mojave). Other Krita users have already reported this issue (other bugs closed
out marked as duplicate of this one). What is the support cutoff in terms of
hardware age for the purposes of Krita development?

[krita] [Bug 399820] New: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS X

2018-10-14 Thread Alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399820

Bug ID: 399820
Summary: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS
X
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.5
Platform: Mac OS X Disk Images
OS: OS X
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: afonsec...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Apple has deprecated OpenGL support for the Mac OS X platform and the API is no
longer supported. Although still functional, it may cease to be included in
future releases of the operating system. This bug is to report this change and
advise implementation of the Metal API for continued support of Krita on the OS
X platform.

Please refer to Apple's note in the OpenGL programming guide:
"Important OpenGL was deprecated in macOS 10.14. To create high-performance
code on GPUs, use the Metal framework instead."
https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_intro/opengl_intro.html

They refer developers to use the Metal API referenced here:
https://developer.apple.com/metal/

Additional information regarding Apple's deprecation warning:

"Deprecations
Periodically, Apple adds deprecation macros to APIs to indicate that those APIs
should no longer be used in active development. When a deprecation occurs, it’s
not an immediate end of life for the specified API. Instead, it is the
beginning of a grace period for transitioning from that API and to newer and
more modern replacements. Deprecated APIs typically remain present and usable
in the system for a reasonable time past the release in which they were
deprecated. However, active development on them ceases, and the APIs receive
only minor changes to accommodate security patches or to fix other critical
bugs. Deprecated APIs may be removed entirely from a future version of the
operating system.

As a developer, avoid using deprecated APIs in your code as soon as possible.
At a minimum, new code you write should never use deprecated APIs. And if your
existing code uses deprecated APIs, update that code as soon as possible."

Reference: https://developer.apple.com/macos/whats-new/

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita
2. Go to menu Krita->Preferences->Display

OBSERVED RESULT
Observe Canvas Graphics Acceleration option Renderer lists OpenGL and Metal is
not an option.

EXPECTED RESULT
Metal is an available graphics acceleration renderer option

This is not only wish list, its kinda needed too

If kontact is supposed to be able to interact with other programs. Any other
programs allow custom tags for phones. After syncing with kontact using webdav,
kontact silently dropped everything it didnt understood and making some changes
to the contatc, it updated the remote vcards dropping everything it didnt
understood

Including custom tags that radical/evolution/gmail were able to show and to
transfer between them perfectly

Luckily i run the backend where i save the vcards in git and i was able to
detect the mess quite fast. Im not sure I want to touch kontact again looking
at this policy with unknown data. Its bad enough that is not able to show it
properly, but to erase it?

Just add everything you dont understand to notes or something

The severity of this bug should be higher than wishlist imho. In other notes,
Should I open a bug about the data lost using webdav or is this bug enough?

Ah, yes, that is it! If I uncheck it, then the issue goes away and everything
works as expected (same with the crop operation).

So the bug happens in the default state, with the Canvas Graphics Acceleration

Thank you for clarifying, I wasn't aware you could do that. I downloaded the
switching software for testing and found that the issue does not appear if I
switch to Integrated only. If I leave it to Discrete or Dynamic then the issue
is present. Note: I had to disconnect my external display in order to for the
switcher to allow me to switch to Integrated. I normally run with an external
display connected.

So the issue seems to happen when the NVIDIA GPU is used.

Hi Dmitry,

I tried the steps you suggested but neither one resolved the issue. However,
since I was there on a whim I tried unchecking the "Use texture buffer" box
below Scaling Mode and that seems to work. The checkbox is enabled by default.

So hopefully this helps narrow it down further, NVIDIA gpu with the default
"Use texture buffer" enabled produces the issue.

Hello.

When I was making a backup to a samba share I noticed that there was a file
which was always transfering, even when there was no change in the filesystem
(running rsync twice).

But noticed that filesize was changing everytime the backup was done. A close
look to the ~/.config folder gives the trick:

alberto@debian:~$ ls .config/*kanl*
.config/skanliterc .config/Skanliterc

For some reason, region dont apply when you select a file for the first time.
You have to choose another one and reselect the one you want. Then it works

I have confirmed myself and you can see it in action in this tutorial

I love how complex the title title options are. You can do all kind of stuff
without having to leave kdenlive :)

To the poin, to modify more complex titles, it wouldnt hurt to have a tree with
the elements in the title so they are more easily to select and visually see
the elements that are in the title

I have to have 2 separate title clips and composite them If i want to add some
kind of transparency to a title

For example, text over a 25% transparent image/rectangle

Having an extra option called transparency in the properties of the elements
would add a very fancy option to it that will multiply the possibilities :)

oh! Thats what it is!

Ive been struggling with this for a few hours as well...

I tried to reproduce it with a long clip in a new file but couldnt because it
is not consistent. If you resize the clip at the begining it works, but if you
do it later, it doesnt. Still not sure what triggers it,

But going to the original title clip and setting the duration to 10h everything
works again :)

Thanks for the insight to help me work around it!

[kdenlive] [Bug 384340] Title Template workflow could be easily sped up a little

2017-09-10 Thread alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384340

Another easy fixes

Auto select text field in title template dialog and a way to accept without
leaving the keyboard

The idea is to shortcut to enter template (Im using ctrl + t), enter text,
shorcut to accept

Many programs allow to enter new line by using ctrl + enter and enter to
accept. Just an idea. It will probably need some label field in the dialog
explaining it so is not too obscure

alt + o to accept doesnt work either when you are entering text probably
because the text field is grabbing all input

And lastly, having a checkbox saying to auto enter the text in the current
timeline position would be just heavenly :)

The flow to enter text in a video without using the mouse would be almost
completed :)

I can think of a few more fixes like auto adjust title time to the track if
theres a constrain of time in the track. Titles doesnt have a inherent
duration, doesnt make sense not to add it because the default time doesnt fit.
If the constrain is shorter than the default, it should just get smaller.

This last one maybe is a little more complicated. What do you do when you
change the duration of the template? Do you change the ones in the tracks too?
Id say only on those that you didnt change manually, but maybe it requires some
extra thought and some special hints on the create title dialog and the one
entered so you visually know for sure what is manually changed and whats not
and you dont have to guess/remember :)

Thanks for all the effort put into kdenlive!

2017-09-10 Thread alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384340

Im thinking about my last point. Maybe a new mode is needed
normal, insert, overwrite and just insert in hole

The other modes doesnt seem to fit the just insert text in this track workflow

One last easy fix: autoselect the latest title entered in the project bin. This
way you could just entere it in the timeline after creating it by pressing this
new mode shortcut. Notice that just pressing v to insert doesnt work well here
because it moves all other tracks

Thanks again!

Sorry for opening so many bugs. I promise this will be the last one that is not
a real bug but wishlist material :)

When you are editing a single track, it should be possible to jumping to next
cut in current track only, instead of the next relevant point with alt + arrows

Rationale is that might have a track full of clips, and you are editing another
non related track and it makes you move very slowly

Possible solutions:
- mark which tracks should be considered as relevant points
- shortcut to toogle all/current track navigation
- use a different shortcut

Using spacer tool doenst invalidate the preview as per #367079 but invalidating
it after manually doesnt seem to be very optimized either. It repreview
everything again

It doesnt recognize that the frame has been rendered before just because it
moved in time

I guess a md5 of the parameters used to invalidate a clip discarding the time
(looking at the file i think is called ) would fix
this. After this, theres probably no need to save them in preview.mlt like is
done right now either

[kdenlive] [Bug 384593] Preview optimization: Dont rerender chunks

2017-09-11 Thread alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384593

The lenght is probably the frame number and thats what is probably whats used
now. It it doesnt match with the second evaluated (which is very likely not
matching when you move clips with so many fps) will re-render that chunk and
every chunk afterwards

Maybe calculate first if the "first frame + number of fps < chunk already
rendered" and re-render only up to frames that are missing. This way you can
use everything afterwards, even if the first chunk uses 2 previews videos
instead of 1

And only after preview engie goes idle, redo 1 second chunks that are made out
of more than 3-5 videos as maintenance, to avoid growing the number of videos
exponentially while having a low impact in the editing process :)

Thanks for listening!

Not sure if the new timeline work that is being carried out now will fix all
these bugs. Please let me now if they do :)

This makes fine adjusting the keyframes very difficult

Moving the timer just moves the player head. Theres no way to move an existing
keyframe

You can only move kf by dragging. If the clip is large enough, theres not
enough pixels on the screen to grab the handle of the keyframe you want to move

My workaround is to randomly cut the clip to make it smaller. Also I have the
ui span the whole botton row, so theres more room to maneuver with keyframes

Possible ideas for fixes:
- allow to zoom in the keyframing timeline
- Copy and paste keyframes (witch would be awesome by itself)
- make the timer shown in the keyframe interface a part of the keyframe. This
means, if you change that value, the keyframe also moves

Thanks for reading!

bugs that make kdenlive a pain to use :)

Hidding invalidates the preview, which not exactly wrong, but unhiding it,
doesnt recover the chunks already rendered, despite not having changed anything
at all

Preview is an awesome feature and have a lot of potential, it just need to use
a few optimizations here and there

Mostly dont renrender things that havent change and use all cores to render
different chunks

I change the importance of the bug to wishlist, since nothing is really broken
because of this. Its just very slow and you have to be very careful which what
you touch when editing knowning you are going to lose the preview speed with
certain moves :)

[kdenlive] [Bug 384787] New: Cant add speed to clips

2017-09-17 Thread alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384787

Bug ID: 384787
Summary: Cant add speed to clips
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: git-master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Effects & Transitions
  Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
  Reporter: paj...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Im sorry, i feel im opening bugs every single day... Its just that im using it
every single day :)

steps to reproduce:

new video, add clip, select clip, click effect, search speed, double click
speed, nothing happens. Drag speed into clip in project bin, nothing happens

If you try with any other effect, it works

I was trying to reverse a clip by giving it -100% speed. It works if you do it
on the timeline, but Its a very short clip and I wanted the effect to apply to
the clip instead of the timeline

Thanks!

[kdenlive] [Bug 384787] Cant add speed to clips

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384787

Okay, I guess adding effects to clips is bugged in general. Ive seen many
things not working now. I can make a list if needed. Just ask and I will add a
comprehensive list but I suspect this is not supposed to be used yet :)

The last thing was transform. Modifiying scale in the clip doesnt show up once
you move the clip into the timeline

In step 4, the "pick screen color" that works is the kde one:
https://www.kde.org/applications/graphics/kcolorchooser/

The gnome one just show a few colors. If you dont get this color chooser, just
use gimp to get the real screen color

When you are syncing audio is a must

This video kind of explain how to fix it but they are still very small:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKslOkep9g0

They should use 100% of the space for audio only tracks and most likely at
least half on videos or being able to toggle it with video (If the problem is
that hides the pictures)

I think the new timeline will separate automatically video and audio, so more
reason to make it bigger :)

Redshift altering the colors of the screen was one of the problems

The other was that I have a slight transparency activated on inactive windows.
When The picker was chosed, the screen became inactive and slightly varied the
color

These 2 alter the color that the color picker grab from the screen. Not sure if
theres a bug to be fixed somewhere or worked as intended tbh :)

Actually, Id like to reopen this. Not sure whose fault it is, but color pick is
faulty. It is specially bad since im trying to pick a plain background color
generated in a computer

Trying different pick colors tools, the best I get is with the kde color
dialog, which removes the color using chroma key just using a variance of 10

Variance of 9 does not remove the color, which means its not picking up the
right color

Again, not sure whose fault it is, but kdenlive should be able to not pick what
color it sees and instead go to the video and pick up the color the own kdelive
rendered is resolving to

Meaning, that point should turn transparent no matter what variance, because im
defining that point as the color base to use

Kdenlive has the info already and should make use of it

[kdenlive] [Bug 384340] New: Title Template workflow could be easily sped up a little

2017-09-04 Thread alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384340

Bug ID: 384340
Summary: Title Template workflow could be easily sped up a
little
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 17.08.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: paj...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

If you have to enter a lot of title clips the workflow is rather slow, even
with shortcuts to create new template title

The faster way is via title templates tho

Easy suggestions:
- auto select the latest template used on template dialog
- give templates proper integration in kdenlive being able to select templates
for editing directly without having to enter the title menu, load template,
save template, cancel to not save, save project, new project, ok to load it,
open recent, open latest project to reload templates and not having to reload
the project to refresh changes on templates

Harder suggestions:
- possibly, but im sure this is more difficult change, not having to create a
new clip with template for every piece of text you want to enter, even if they
use one on the background. Maybe being able to use the same template clip for
everything and just change the text somehow. Maybe right click on time line or
shortcut to add title clip directly on the time line. Not having to create a
clip, find it and drag it to the timeline. Its not something you have to load,
its created within kdenlive, so why not give it a higher status, instead of
being a second class citizen

- easy togglable 'use current track'/'use all tracks'

This small fixes would speed up the workflow alot

In tone with my previous bug about adding a menu to add in the timeline title

menu :)

tell by the git comments that is only 2 people doing all the work :/
