[plasmashell] [Bug 370411] Desktop preferences lost on login for dual screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370411 --- Comment #8 from Sylvain --- I've updated to plasma 5.8.2 I and I'm still having issues with my desktop preferences on dual screen. It's working better (no more systematic lost on startup but randomly) but I'm not so sure this is exactly a duplicate of the of bug 369665 as this only affect configurations with dual monitors. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 372446] New: Dual-screen desktop crash after ejecting the optical disk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372446 Bug ID: 372446 Summary: Dual-screen desktop crash after ejecting the optical disk Product: plasmashell Version: 5.8.2 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: drkonqi Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: bond.never@gmail.com CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 Application: plasmashell (5.8.2) Qt Version: 5.7.0 Frameworks Version: 5.27.0 Operating System: Linux 4.8.4-1-ARCH x86_64 Distribution (Platform): Archlinux Packages -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: I just clicked on the 'eject' button in the notification area to eject the optical disk from the reader device. Then, I was prompt for the root password, I entered it and clicked on OK. While removing the ejected disk, the desktop crashed. - Unusual behavior I noticed: After crashing, the desktop reloaded itself and an icon notifying that a crash occured appeared in the notification area. I also noticed that the wallpaper of my second monitor was rested to KDE's default (but not the wallpaper of the primary screen) and when I open back my browser (chromium), all my tabs were closed and I wasn't prompted to retore my previous session after a crash (witch was the expected behavior). I know that Chromium has nothing to do with KDE but maybe the behavior is symptomatic of something ... -- Backtrace: Application: Plasma (plasmashell), signal: Segmentation fault Using host libthread_db library "/usr/lib/libthread_db.so.1". [kmail2] [Bug 387618] words less than 3 letters are ignored
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387618 Sylvain changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ago.sylv...@gmail.com --- Comment #13 from Sylvain --- I was going to open a bug on the same issue, as it has been bugging me for several years now (should have done it earlier, sorry). I often search for japanese names and these are often two kanjis (multibytes characters, for example 田中). I understand also the need for country code, etc. I was looking in the source to see where this check is done and see if I could fix it (I am not a C++ programmer, but I thought it could be easy), but I couldn't find the code... What I want to propose is that a first check is done : are the two characters multibytes (CJK) strings? are both letters capitalize? and if one is validated, the search is started. This could limit two "letters" search to CJK languages and for abbreviation. Would that be possible? Thanks -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Dolphin correctly displays my smartphone device in the left shortcuts panel, however after opening it when I click on folder icon towards "All Files" this bug is displayed. It usually happens randomly on and off and is not too much of a nuisance because it "resolves" quickly, actually as I am typing to file this but things have gone back to normal. It seems to be forewarned by an impossibility of copying files on the device, sometimes only in sub-folders, as if these were on read only (chmod r--) for some reason. [Plasma Vault] [Bug 386200] Import Vault
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386200 Sylvain changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ago.sylv...@gmail.com --- Comment #18 from Sylvain --- Thanks for developing the import functions which I feel is essential to allow recovery from backup. I have a number of vaults that were encrypted with cryfs on kubuntu 18.04. I moved to fedora kde spin and tried to import these vaults. I installed cryfs from copr as it was not available in the repo (this should be reported to fedora perhaps). I launched the import function with qdbus org.kde.kded5 /modules/plasmavault requestImportVault ; selected cryfs, the location of data and mount point but the "next button" remains greyed, only back and cancel are clickable. The terminal does not show any message. I have a backup of unencrypted data so it is not a problem but if I can of any help... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Plasma Vault] [Bug 386200] Import Vault
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386200 --- Comment #20 from Sylvain --- Sorry for the delay. I was working from home and the problem is on my lab pc... I attach a screenshot to show what I mean. In the screenshot attached I am trying to import the vault named "Grades and Scores", for which the encrypted data is in the folder "/home/sylvain/Classes/Grades and Scores" and the mountpoint is "/home/sylvain/Vaults/Grades and Scores/" which is an empty folder. I tried to rename the folder to remove space. For cryfs, the package I installed is : https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/fcsm/cryfs/ Is there any way to turn debug flag on? The backup from plasmavaultrc contains the following for that vault. I could try to reimport manually but I am ok to try to debug first: [/home/sylvain/Classes/Grades and Scores] activities=1bfcdc1a-fe56-4234-93d6-1379e47f85a2 backend=cryfs lastError=Unknown device (code: 1) lastStatus=2 mountPoint=/home/sylvain/Vaults/Grades and Scores name=Grades and Scores -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 386200] Import Vault
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386200 --- Comment #23 from Sylvain --- The trailing slash worked! That was not stupid :) When we use the browse button, the trailing slash is not added, so it has to be added manually afterward. Another minor point, there is no cursor appearing when we click in the text field and (for example in the next screen for password input) it is not possible to use tab to go to the next field. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Plasma Vault] [Bug 386200] Import Vault
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386200 --- Comment #24 from Sylvain --- I believe it is in types.cpp the normalise function. I tried to look at the code (I dont know C++) but it seems it removes the trailing slash if it exists. But it was there on purpose I believe... Sorry it would take time for me to understand why this function is here and if on the reverse adding a slash here would break stuff somewhere else. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Plasma Vault] [Bug 386200] Import Vault

[amarok] [Bug 404126] New: Use cover artwork as translucent background for main panel/playlist
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404126 Bug ID: 404126 Summary: Use cover artwork as translucent background for main panel/playlist Product: amarok Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org Reporter: kde.s...@9ox.net Target Milestone: kf5 Glad to see Amarok is going to be maintained again. It is one of the main reasons why I came back to KDE and I was disappointed to see it's not part of the main software suite anymore. I hope this is going well ? I'm willing to help. Here's a suggestion : I would love to have the cover art for the current playing track/album displayed as the main panel/playlist background image. This would only need a few settings regarding desired transparency level (and possibly where/how to locate cover pictures – mine are in album folder named after %artist - %album.jpg). Perhaps also it could be enhanced to display cover art pictures for each album's total tracks following eachother in a playlist, i.e. for instance if my playlist consists of three albums in a row, have all three covers take up each the space of their corresponding tracks, no more no less. This sounds a bit more hazardous. Just an idea. I use Kubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04 LTS with KDE Plasma. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 404153] New: Carry [copying] operation on while waiting for prompt after minor error
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404153 Bug ID: 404153 Summary: Carry [copying] operation on while waiting for prompt after minor error Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kde.s...@9ox.net CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Oftentimes I use Dolphin to manage different disks and different partitions systems. This is prone to producing errors, because some files on my ext4 partitions ext4 have weird characters in their filenames (notably two dots, exclamation mark and interrogation mark) which are incompatible with exfat FS. When such an error happens, Dolphin asks what to do about it (Ignore, Retry etc) and it seems the operation is suspended until the user would prompt in. This is quite inconvenient as it prevents getting away from a potentially long task that one hopes would complete after a while. Ideally I suppose the task would carry on running in the background, and potential new errors add up to the error window list (instead of triggering multiple windows). In my case the system could simply suggest to replace the problematic characters. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

With Dolphin 17.12.3 under Kubuntu 18.04 I can only find a very basic multiple-files renaming tool, that only allows for numbering the files but erasing their original name. Is my installation missing something ? >From a duplicate report of this one, somebody also mentioned XFCE's Thunar and its excellent tool : https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/bulk-renamer/start When I was using it under XFCE I felt it offered everything I could require. I'm not trying to tell KDE developers what to say, but as somebody who came to Plasma for an interface with more "breadth", and very satisfied, it just seems odd to me that such a feature isn't included. [okular] [Bug 332372] Edit and save (PDF) Document Information
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332372 Sylvain changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ago.sylv...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from Sylvain --- Just wanted to add my 2 cents on this. I have been looking in okular where I can edit the metadata before understanding that it is not possible at the moment. Okular is such a great document reader that I was convinced that editing the metadata was possible The metadata are editable using exiftool, through the command line, it would be nice if this was possible through okular: the field in the property dialog should be editable. Now I understand that okular is a "viewer" but because there is no simple way to edit pdf metadata through the gui under kde, at least to my knowledge", it would be nice if okular could do it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
