--- Comment #3 from Silvan Calarco  ---
I have a similar problem causing plasmashell and kactivitymanagerd use a lot of
CPU.

After stracing plasmashell I found a lot of quick repetitions of such lines:

readlink("/usr/share/kservices5/kcm_kscreen.desktop", 0x7ffd3dc458b0, 1023) =
-1 EINVAL (Invalid argumet)

Then I tried removing/renaming /usr/share/kservices5/kcm_kscreen.desktop and
this caused plasmashell and kactivity to suddenly restore normal CPU usage and
apparently work as expected.

My kcm_kscreen.desktop is from kscreen 5.24.5, could this be caused by a
problem introduced in this file with recent update?

  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Application: systemsettings5 (5.20.5)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Operating System: Linux 5.4.77mamba-x86_64 x86_64
Windowing system: X11
Distribution: openmamba GNU/Linux 2020.12 for x86_64 (rolling)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

1) open System Settings (systemsettings5)
2) do anything or just nothing
3) close systemsettings window by pressing [X] on the top-right corner
4) crash

Problem happens since some releases (maybe in the last 2-3 months) and also
applies to other KDE Plasma applications.
All backtraces have libkirigami2 functions on top, so it seems the culprit.
Themes and styles are all set to Breeze.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

I'm using the default Breeze color scheme but also setting other schemes does
not help.
Looking at the code below from src/libkirigami/basictheme.cpp I wonder what
causes the crash in the last line, maybe some component is missing from
installation but can't find a solution so far.

//NOTE: for now is important this import stays at 2.0
c.setData(R"(
import QtQuick 2.6
import org.kde.kirigami 2.0 as Kirigami

QtObject {
property QtObject theme: Kirigami.Theme
}
)", QUrl(QStringLiteral("basictheme.cpp")));

QObject *obj = c.create();
m_declarativeBasicTheme = obj->property("theme").value();

Hello, I'm facing this problem too.
If I understand the problem might be resolved by reverting commit

Ok, I'm testing now Mesa 22.2.3 with 7682 reverted.
In my case the problem happens seldomly usually upon the creation of a
notification box which is rendered black and it may take some days before I may
say that the issue is fixed.
As you may have noticed an upstream bug has been opened here:

I also used to have the problems reported by Daniel but in my case it seems
they stopped happening since Qt update to 5.15.7 (with KDE patches applied to
qtbase and qtdeclarative modules).
Currently I didn't have any issues at all in the last 5 days on two computers
(with Intel and AMD/ATI chipsets) where they happened once every 1-2 days. I
also run many times Oleg's reproducer without any issue. It may just be a
coincidence, BTW I also updated Mesa to 22.2.3 and KDE Plasma to 5.26.3, are
you all using such releases?

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 421066] New: No password prompt to unlock screen after resume from suspend

2020-05-05 Thread Silvan Calarco
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421066

Bug ID: 421066
   Summary: No password prompt to unlock screen after resume from
suspend
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcheckpass
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: silvan.cala...@mambasoft.it
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 128182
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=128182&action=edit
My ~/.config/kscreenlockerrc

SUMMARY
When resuming from suspend I'm often unable to unlock the screen because there
is no password prompt.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Suspend at evening
2. Resume at morning

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no password unlock prompt, also time and date display are absent, only
background image is visible. Mouse/touchpad and keyboard presses have no
effects. Unable to unlock.

EXPECTED RESULT
Get a password prompt to type password and unlock the screen.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
The distribution is openmamba (it's missing in platform list, can it be added?)
and I'm the RPM packages maintainer.

Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: any version tested in last years
KDE Frameworks Version: any version tested in last years
Qt Version: any version tested in last years

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
To unlock I need to press CTRL-ALT-F2, login and kill the kscreenlocker_greet
process. Then when going back with ALT-F1 i get the password prompt (a new
kscreenlocker_greet process is spawned).
It seems I can't reproduce the problem if I suspend/resume within a short time
and also normal screen lock when PC is left on seems to always work.
I've been having this problem for years about every two mornings.
A similar bug has been closed in NEEDSINFO state, but I can give mode details
as requested.
