Thanks for reply. I tried this but got the following error:

OP raises valid point. Naming this shortcut simply "Maximize" _is_ misleading.
This should have been named "Maximize/Restore" or something. This would make it
clear what the task of this shortcut is and it would make it easier to find it
in case someone is looking for "restore" like I did.

Nate, I think that mass-closing all issues with kcm_khotkeys set as a component
is wrong. I suspect many of them are genuine problems with how KDE handles
keyboard shortcuts and the fact that the component which handles shortcuts
changed in no way automatically invalidates these problems. I think in all such
open issues the component should be updated to the current one (KGlobalAccel)
and there should be a note added with information to check if a problem is
still present now, when the component is different.

I retract my previous statement that the leak is due to opening archive file –
sorry for confusion.
The leak does occur consistently and without any action; it's enough to start
Krusader and leave it alone.
I'm going to run it under valgrind with the following options and post results:

Left one Python .egg file (it's zip format) opened in Krusader for a night and
in result Krusader takes 2GB of memory and kio_krarc takes 900MB of memory.
After closing file (changing directory) Krusader still takes 2GB and kio_krarc

Detailed memory information for Krusader 2.7.0 reported by KDE System Monitor

(In reply to Nikita Melnichenko from comment #8)
> Valgrind report doesn't show any Gb of leaks, only some Kb.

I have no idea why doesn't Valgrind show this. Please see attached information
on Krusader's memory usage taken from KDE System Monitor – "The process
krusader (with pid 2242) is using approximately 1.8 GB of memory." This is
after about 24 hours of running.

(In reply to Nikita Melnichenko from comment #5)
> Interesting. Do you have any activities that update files in the folders
> that you have opened in Krusader?

No.

(In reply to Nikita Melnichenko from comment #5)
> If you close all tabs except one on each
> panel and set their paths to '/', does leak happen?

Yes.

(In reply to Nikita Melnichenko from comment #8)
> Please answer my previous questions and try running under a brand new user.

I'll run under a brand new user as you suggested and will report back but no
earlier than in 3 weeks due to vacations.

(In reply to Nikita Melnichenko from comment #8)
> I also encourage you to upgrade to v2.7.

I did as soon as this version was available in Fedora's rpm repos however the
problem still remains. The attached memory report is for version 2.7.0.

Krusader 2.7.0
KDE Plasma 5.12.5
KDE Frameworks 5.46.0

Now I run Krusader through heaptrack all the time but memory consumption is
fairly normal (in the range 100MB-300MB) . As soon as it shows up I will post
heaptrack stats.

[systemsettings] [Bug 385586] New: Orientation (rotation) of monitors (outputs) (clockwise, counter-clockwise) different than actual

2017-10-11 Thread Piotr Dobrogost

Bug ID: 385586
   Summary: Orientation (rotation) of monitors (outputs)
(clockwise, counter-clockwise) different than actual
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.10.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@p.dobrogost.net
  Target Milestone: ---

I have 2 out of 3 monitors orientated 90° clockwise. However when I designate
them as such in System Settings➝Display and Monitor I get upside-down display.
The workaround to get proper display is to lie and designate them as orientated
90° _counter_-clockwise.

Shutting down KDE, deleting ~/.local/share/kscreen/* and rebooting does not fix
the issue.

I found similar bug 335211 fixed in the past…

Bug ID: 494870

not present in the journal in spite of setting Full
Debug in KDebugSettings
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin

Status: REPORTED

I have Kröhnkite KWin script (https://github.com/anametologin/krohnkite)
installed and activated.
As seen at
https://github.com/anametologin/krohnkite/blob/0.9.8.2/res/main.qml#L52 it
outputs log message using console.log():
console.log("KROHNKITE: starting the script");

However after setting "KWin Scripting" log level to "Full Debug" and removing
"*.debug=false" rule from Custom Rules in KDebugSettings I don't see this (and
other log messages from this script) message in KSystemLog.

scroll all the way down, where there are Products, Develop, News & Press,
Resources and Destinations sections, find "Community Wiki" link in Resources
section (among several other topics in all sections), go there, then click
"Welcome to KDE" (again, one of a few topics) and then find Chat paragraph with

I suggest placing this information in much more prominent way like many other

I was just looking for this feature, too.
I asked about this at
https://discuss.kde.org/t/keyboard-shortcut-to-minimize-all-windows-but-the-current-focused-one-so-called-shake-it-action/32061?u=piotr_dobrogost
As described in the above post it's especially useful when using tiling window
manager (Krohnkite in my case) because by minimizing all but focused window the
focused one automatically gets "maximized" without actually changing its state
to `maximized`. This is very nice because Krohnkite does not tile windows in
`maximized` state (I guess other managers do the same) so this essentially
makes it possible to "maximize" window and have it still managed by Krohnkite.
It's then possible to again have this "maximized" windows tiled with some other
window by simply switching to this other window – no need to first unmaximize
to get the window to be tillable again.

I suggested to add this directly to Krohnkite at
https://github.com/anametologin/krohnkite/issues/151 but this was rejected with
the reply
"Krohnkite arrange visible windows only, it doesn't Kwin minimize, maximize,
close or any other way influence on windows beside change its size. Suggested
feature is useful maybe but related rather to Kwin not Krohnkite."

I'm eagerly waiting for it in KWin, then ;)

Btw, thread on this subject from 2009 –

window rules

I have set a window rule to apply keyboard shortcut to the specific window as
shown in the attached screenshot but the shortcut does not work.
I can see that the window is being matched by setting opacity in the same rule
so the
problem is with applying the shortcut not matching a window.
I have similar rules which apply keyboard shortcuts for other windows and they
work properly.
I tried different keyboard shortcuts and nothing worked.

One thing specific to this case is that it's the second window of one
application (JetBrains' PyCharm IDE).

Thanks TraceyC very much for taking a look at this!

> I'm able to confirm this behavior on git-master by setting the same keyboard
> shortcut to the properties of the KWrite window, and using similar rules to
> the ones you have.

Could you please describe in more details how did you manage to reproduce this
with KWrite? I'm asking because I do not see an easy way of doing this.
With PyCharm, when one opens debug window it has "Debug" word present in the
window's title and this allows to target this window only (as opposed to the
main PyCharm window opened earlier which does not have this word in its title).
However with KWrite, when one opens the second window its title is the same as
the title of the first one ("Welcome – KWrite") which seems to not allow to
target each window with separate window rule.

[krdc] [Bug 502333] Black screen after connecting with KRdp

2025-04-06 Thread Piotr Dobrogost
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502333

--- Comment #5 from Piotr Dobrogost  ---
I'm not sure if there was active plasma session running on the server when I
was trying this…
Now, I set auto-login in SDDM and restarted the server to be "sure" there is an
active session on remote server.
Now, on the server I get this:
```
$ systemctl --user status plasma-workspace-wayland.target
● plasma-workspace-wayland.target
 Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/user/plasma-workspace-wayland.target;
static)
 Active: active since Sun 2025-04-06 20:11:14 CEST; 32min ago
 Invocation: 75c2af75b6a040ca9bc62969de6d5936
kwi 06 20:11:14 demon systemd[1270]: Reached target
plasma-workspace-wayland.target.
```
which I think means that plasma session is active (although $SESSION_DESKTOP is
empty but I think it shouldn't)?

Now when trying to connect I get this in KRdp server logs:

```
kwi 06 20:54:03 demon krdpserver[2210]: [20:54:03:476] [2210:209349]
Luis Bocanegra suggested it could be implemented like the KDE preview banner
(warning) which is interactive (has menu).
I'm attaching screenshots of this banner sent by Luis.
This would seem so according to `man dnf swap` which shows `dnf5 swap [options]
 `.
However it seems that this command does not care about the order of packages
given as arguments and removes one which is installed and install the other
one.
First invocation (removes openh264, installs noopenh264):
```

Tried with krdc.x86_64 25.04.0-2.fc42 and krdp.x86_64 6.3.4-2.fc42 still with
no image.
There seems to be a problem with h264 decoder:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=494810

--- Comment #5 from Piotr Dobrogost  ---
I think you should be able to set your ExecStart in a drop-in file without
creating new service file.
The unit is at /usr/lib/systemd/user/app-org.kde.krdpserver.service so the
drop-in file should be placed inside
~/.config/systemd/user/app-org.kde.krdpserver directory. This has the advantage
of keeping in sync with eventual, future upstream changes to the unit.

Thanks for a quick reply.
I saw KRdp is moving to freerdp3 and wanted to ask if KRDC is planning the
same; good to hear it does and hopefully it resolves this issue.
Did you take a look at bug 500276 linked to this one? Similar problem there,
albeit with Remmina, and an interesting fix. I'm wondering if you are using
Fedora and are able to rebuild freerdp2 package without openh264 support to
check if it helps?

I thought maybe it's already in the Fedora Rawhide and I could force installing
it and check if it makes any difference but apparently it's not available
there:

miner@hostx ~]$ sudo dnf --releasever=rawhide install krdc
Updating and loading repositories:

Repositories loaded.
Package "krdc-24.12.3-1.fc42.x86_64" is already installed.
Nothing to do.

Do you know where I could obtain .rpm package for krdc 25.04?

Right, in Fedora there is noopenh264 package
(https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/noopenh264/noopenh264/index.html) –
"Fake implementation of the OpenH264 library we can link from regardless of the
actual library being available."

I'm wondering if swapping openh264 for noopenh264 would make freerdp2 use
ffmpeg even if it's compiled with support both for openh264 and ffmpeg?

Shouldn't just uninstalling openh264 solve this without the need to disable

Also having black screen with the difference I'm using KRDC
(https://invent.kde.org/plasma/krdp/-/issues/8#note_1185807)
Client: Fedora 41, krdc.x86_64 24.12.3-1.fc41
Server: Fedora 41, krdp.x86_64 6.3.3-1.fc41

In the client log I see the same error you had:
kwi 01 22:48:04 hostx krdc[5905]: [22:48:04:056] [5905:6917]
[WARN][com.freerdp.gdi] - avc420_decompress failure: -2002, ignoring update.
which makes me believe that maybe I have the the same problem as you.

> I rebuilt it without openh264 and now connecting to krdp works just fine. idk
> whose fault it is, leaving it for your investigation guys.
Is this on the client side or server side?

[krdc] [Bug 502333] New: Black screen after connecting with KRdp

2025-04-02 Thread Piotr Dobrogost
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502333

Bug ID: 502333
   Summary: Black screen after connecting with KRdp
Classification: Applications
   Product: krdc
   Version: 24.12.3
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: RDP
  Assignee: uwol...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@p.dobrogost.net
  Target Milestone: ---

I'm getting black screen after connecting to KRdp.
Connecting to the same host from Windows 10 with Remote Desktop app works with
the caveat that after connecting, the screen is also black but then if I kill
KRdp process and it gets started automatically again by systemd (due to being
run as a service) and then I connect once more from Windows 10 it works this
time.

I was having the same issue.
I found out that killing KRdp and then connecting again from Windows 10 Remote
Desktop app works.
1. On the server run `systemctl --user status app-org.kde.krdpserver.service`
and take note of pid number (`Main PID: 65971 (krdpserver)`).
2. Kill the KRdp process with `kill -9 `.
3. Connect again and this time it works.
