[plasmashell] [Bug 441574] Scrolling in the system tray entries section with a touchpad is stuttery

Not anything I've noticed. It's more when actively scrolling through entries.
It's as if it drops frames. I think it's down to smooth scrolling on a
touchpad, as there's no issue when using a mouse with line by line, non smooth
scrolling.

Just Intel graphics (UHD 620). This might not be a Plasma bug actually, I'm
getting similar stuttering when scrolling in Gnome Software in Gnome 40.

To follow up, I'm experiencing the same kind of stutter in the wallpaper
selection window. The Gnome software stutter is another issue. When using
Wayland, the issue goes away completely.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443359

Bug ID: 443359
Summary: Some animations are stuttery on Wayland
   Product: kde

  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

SUMMARY

Some animations are stuttery when using the Wayland display server, such as
switching between entries in the system tray, as well as clicking on categories
in Discover.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in to Wayland session
2. Switch between entries in system tray or click on categories in Discover.

OBSERVED RESULT

Some animations are stuttery as mentioned above.

EXPECTED RESULT

Animations are smooth as with the rest of the desktop.

Yes in X11 the animations mentioned are perfectly smooth and act how they
should. I've tried a number of composting settings in combination and that has
little effect. There aren't any processes that seem to be hogging the system.

>From the QtQuick applications I've tested, including Dolphin and System
Monitor, it seems to be only the sliding animation that's stuttery, which the
system tray uses when the user switches entries (from WiFi to Bluetooth for
example); as well as Discover (when clicking on categories). The system tray
and Discover remain to be the two elements to have this stutter in Wayland.

[kwin] [Bug 421859] New: Natural Scrolling not consistent in all applications

2020-05-21 Thread Oliver Williamson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421859

Bug ID: 421859
Summary: Natural Scrolling not consistent in all applications
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: libinput
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: oan...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

On Wayland, natural scrolling is active in some applications and windows, such
as System Settings or Firefox, but in other windows such as the built in KDE
store, or the "Add widgets" window, natural scrolling is not active with the
touchpad.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Verify natural scrolling is enabled
2. Go to "Add widgets" window, or the "Desktop configuration window" and
scroll.

OBSERVED RESULT

Natural scrolling (inverse) action does not happen, only regular scrolling.

EXPECTED RESULT

Natural scrolling is active and acts accordingly.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon User Edition
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Natural scrolling under Xorg works universally across all windows and
applications, unlike Wayland.
