Update: I finally figured it out. I had the proprietary intel-media-driver from
rpmfusion-nonfree installed. Uninstalling it instantly fixed the issue. I still
don't know why it conflicts with Haruna specifically.

[dolphin] [Bug 497576] New: Preview pixelation and scale problems in Dolphin after upgrade from Dolphin 24.08.3 -> 24.12.0

2024-12-16 Thread OIRNOIR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=497576

Bug ID: 497576
Summary: Preview pixelation and scale problems in Dolphin after
upgrade from Dolphin 24.08.3 -> 24.12.0
Classification: Applications
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 24.12.0
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: panels: information
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: h...@oirnoir.dev
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Upon updating to dolphin 24.12.0, the information panel (F11) in Dolphin now
displays previews wrongly for images. Instead of fitting the image, it fills
it, cutting off the longer side. In addition, it seems unusually pixelated,
even for high resolution images. I was able to reproduce this on a clean
install in a VM.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
- Install Fedora 41 KDE spin
- Obtain any non-square (so, either horizontal or vertical) image in either png
or jpg format
- In Dolphin, navigate to the directory containing your image
- Enable the information portal via hamburger menu → Show Panels → Information
- Hover over the image

OBSERVED RESULT
Part of the image is now cut off, and it may look slightly pixelated.

EXPECTED RESULT
The entire image is shown within the borders of the preview, and it doesn’t
look pixelated

[Breeze] [Bug 497655] New: System tray icons no longer appear as intended

2024-12-18 Thread OIRNOIR

Bug ID: 497655
Summary: System tray icons no longer appear as intended
Classification: Plasma
   Product: Breeze
   Version: 6.2.4
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

System tray icons on version 6.7.0

SUMMARY
The system tray icons no longer appear as they should after updating to
breeze-icon-theme 6.9.0. On breeze-icon-theme 6.7.0, the battery icon looks
identical to how it appears in the theme's repo:
https://github.com/KDE/breeze-icons/tree/master/battery
However, after updating to 6.9.0, the icon looks squashed, simplified, and
overall less appealing to look at than the old one. It has thicker lines that
do not match the rest of the status bar, as does the clipboard icon. I have
temporarily mitigated this issue by using `dnf downgrade` to use 6.7.0 instead.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update to breeze-icon-theme v6.9.0
2. Observe the system tray widget

OBSERVED RESULT
Icons feel simplified and the line widths no longer feel cohesive. The icons
become a cluttery mess of styles.

EXPECTED RESULT
The icons look approximately the same as on version 6.7.0.

After quite a bit of trial and error, I have not been able to revert the
problem so that the icons appear as they used to. Perhaps there was some other
code in some other package that was updated that cemented the problem in
deeper, or maybe the dependency layout changed? Either way, downgrading
breeze-icon-theme does not change anything.
The only DNF package I found from the modules you described was kf6-kirigami,
and downgrading that had no effect. I'm not sure how to downgrade any of the
other software you specified. How can I do this?

SUMMARY
With the Libzip plugin enabled, Ark does not allow creating multipart archives.
However, upon disabling this plugin, multipart archives immediately become
possible to create.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable all plugins, including 7z and Libzip

3. Disable Libzip
4. Note that the multipart menu for the zip format is reenabled.

OBSERVED RESULT
Creating multipart archives are unavailable when the Libzip plugin is enabled,
but available when 7z is used (by disabling Libzip).

EXPECTED RESULT
Creating multipart archives is possible in Ark when Libzip is enabled.

I'm not saying libzip needs to support multi-part / split-volume ZIP archives.
My issue is not with libzip; it is with how Ark implements libzip among its
other plugins.

Ark should give people the option to create and open multi-part ZIP archives
even when the libzip plugin is enabled, if any enabled plugin supports
multi-part ZIP archives. If the user selects that they would like to create a
multi-part ZIP archive, this should make Ark automatically fallback to some
other plugin besides libzip. This would make functionality smoother for all Ark
users who wish to use libzip for better non-multipart zip support and
occasionally need to create multipart zip archives.

My point was that multipart archive support gets disabled when libzip is

Since plugins that support multipart archives are enabled, not allowing
multipart archives as an option is unintended behavior that should be fixed.
