2023-08-26 Thread Bastian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473774

Bug ID: 473774
Summary: MacOS 3.6.6 release is broken
Classification: Applications
   Product: kstars
   Version: 3.6.6
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: bast...@blankenburg.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

The MacOS 3.6.6 release linked on the homepage is broken. After mounting the
DMG and copying the app to /Applications, which works fine, trying to run it
shows this error:

> “kstars.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.

I've downloaded it twice to be sure not to have a corrupt download (in which
case, however, I think even mounting the DMG wouldn't work).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download latest kstars for Mac release
https://www.indilib.org/jdownloads/kstars/kstars-3.6.6.dmg
2. Mount and copy app to /Applications
3. Try to run

OBSERVED RESULT

Error described above shown and app doesn't start.

EXPECTED RESULT

App starts.

I've retried this time using `curl` rather than download in Safari, and this
time it worked. So it seems to be more likely a download bug in Safari?

[digikam] [Bug 462071] New: Last tag cannot be removed if only using xmp.lr and xmp.dc

2022-11-20 Thread Bastian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462071

Bug ID: 462071
Summary: Last tag cannot be removed if only using xmp.lr and
xmp.dc
Classification: Applications
   Product: digikam
   Version: 8.0.0
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Xmp
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: spiffysni...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If only Xmp.lr.hierarchicalSubject and Xmp.dc.subject (and digiKam:TagsList)
are activated for writing/reading into/from the sidecar file, it is not
possible to delete the last tag.
With the digiKam namespace included, all works fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. fresh digikam installation
2. add 1 dir with one jpg in it
3.Config/Metadata/Behavior: tick all information aspects and "rescan files"
4. Config/Metadata/sidecars: enable reading and writing to xmp sidecars only
5. create the tag structrure: a/1, a/b/1
6. Disable all tags, apply
7. enable only a/b/1, apply
8. disable a/b/1, apply

OBSERVED RESULT
A new tag /1 is created and only the dc.subject is written in the XMP sidecar

EXPECTED RESULT
Remove all tags from the file, dc.subject should be deleted too.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.10
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I open this bug only because there were other similar side effects which I
could not reproduce on the test instance. The reason for even trying this is to
have a bidirectional exchange of tags between digiKam and darktable.

OK, that works fine for me. Tested it and found no problems.
Maybe it would be enough just to add a hint or a warning in the settings

If I only have those 3 active but when additionally enabling "read all metadata
for tags" I encounter the following behavior:
Tag structure as before:
/a/1
/a/b/1
If I activate /a/b/1 DK creates an additional tag /1

When "read all metadata for tags" is disabled it works fine.

If there is no way to deselect the last tag, it does not seem as "correct
behavior" to me. ;)
I understand that the algorithm is working as programmed, but my user stories
are not satisfied:

As a User I want to be able to remove all tags from an image.
As a User I want only the specifically created tags to be added (and I do not
want the tags to be duplicated on the root level).

KStars/Ekos verbose log for INDI and CCD

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Ensure that ptpcamerad isn't running and mounting cameras.
2. Connect Olympus E-M5 II to computer running KStars.
3. Configure local INDI server with GPhoto CCD driver.
4. Try to start INDI server and connect.

OBSERVED RESULT
Camera doesn't connect, INDI log shows
```
2025-02-21T05:31:10: [ERROR] Can not open camera: Power OK? If camera is
auto-mounted as external disk storage, please unmount it and disable
auto-mount.
2025-02-21T05:31:10: [ERROR] Camera open error (-4): Error loading a library
```

EXPECTED RESULT
Camera connects fine.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: Sonoma 14.7.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I've enabled verbose logging for Ekos -> INDI and Drivers -> CCD, and attached
the log file here.

In my old KStars version (3.6.8), I could connect my Olympus E-M5 II just fine
(using a script which periodically kills ptpcamerad every 0.1 seconds to
prevent it from mounting the camera, and which I also ran for the new versin).

The old Kstars used libindi 2.0.5, while the new one uses 2.1.2.

I also saw the same issue with the IndiStarter app: an old version that came
with libindi 2.0.2 worked fine, but the new one which bundles 2.1.2 does not,
showing the same error. So I think it's a libindi issue with was introduced
somewhere between 2.0.5 and 2.1.2.

I've just tried IndiStarter release 2.4.1 which comes with libindi 2.0.7, which
also shows the " Camera open error (-4): Error loading a library" problem. So
that might indicate that the issue was introduced between libindi 2.0.5 and
2.0.7.

Hi, when I am changing the resolution of one of my monitors, all programs
disappear in the task manager of the panel of the screen. The programs still
run and I can switch to them via alt + tab. Restarting plasmashell fixes the
problem. The programs also disappear, if I only change the position of the
screen in regards to a second screen.

[Touchpad-KCM] [Bug 408325] Touchpad KCM crashes on launch

2019-06-18 Thread Bastian Beischer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408325

I believe this bug is triggered for X11 on systems which do not actually have a
touchpad. I think the problem is:

Since

https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/commit/ce84d6ab4babc80707f4e4c1deb02cfe3ac5b7bb

TouchpadConfigContainer::m_plugin is null, because
TouchpadBackend::implementation() does not have m_mode properly set. setMode()
is supposed to be called in XlibBackend::findTouchpad(), but this goes through
the list of touchpads, which can be none, and calls setMode() on each such
touchpad.

So setMode() is never actually called and m_mode is (implicitly!) initialized
to WaylandLibinput (since it does not get set in TouchpadBackend constructor).
Then getMode() does not return any of the expected cases in isPlatformX11()
branch, which means m_plugin stays a nullptr and then there is a crash in
TouchpadConfigContainer::sizeHint().

[dolphin] [Bug 397653] New: Linking dolphin fails on NixOS

Bug ID: 397653

Linker error on NixOS

Hi,
while updating the packages on NixOS for kde applications 18.08, I encountered
a problem with linking dolphin (see attached log for full build log):

[ 99%] Building CXX object src/CMakeFiles/dolphin.dir/dolphin_dummy.cpp.o
[100%] Building CXX object
src/CMakeFiles/dolphin.dir/dolphin_autogen/mocs_compilation.cpp.o
[100%] Linking CXX executable ../bin/dolphin

/nix/store/gpc2wld1s0c6qzx9326cwn1wcx29xzsj-binutils-2.30/bin/ld: warning:

using -rpath or -rpath-link)
../bin/libkdeinit5_dolphin.so: undefined reference to
`KItemListView::dragMoveEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent*)'
../bin/libkdeinit5_dolphin.so: undefined reference to
`KItemListView::createDragPixmap(KItemSet const&) const'
../bin/libkdeinit5_dolphin.so: undefined reference to
`DolphinView::itemCountChanged()'

I could track this problem down to the following commit:
https://phabricator.kde.org/D12931
Removing this patch, resolves the linking error.

I looked into the documentation of CMake, but I don't have any idea what could
be wrong. It should propagate the `libdolphinprivate.so.5` and
`libdolphinvcs.so.5` libraries as required libraries for linking.

I managed to resolve the link error. After comparing your and mine `link.txt`,
I saw that mine was missing the build `RPATH`. NixOS sets by default
`CMAKE_SKIP_BUILD_RPATH=ON` and that needs to be set to `OFF`, to build it
correctly. The RPATH is required that linker finds the private linked
libraries, while linking `dolphin`.

   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.9.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages

  Severity: minor

 Component: kcm_sddm

In Plasma 5.9 the theme.conf of the breeze SDDM theme contains these settings:

[General]
type=color
color=#1d99f3
background=

When customizing the background image with SDDM KCM there is a new file
"theme.conf.user" in the SDDM theme directory:

[General]
background=foo.png

However, when restarting SDDM the custom background picture is not shown.

I think the theme.conf.user file has to look like this:

[General]
type=image
background=foo.png

Then it works normally.

dolphin works as it should. Pressing ctrl+f to open the search panel also
works.

When I create secondary (new) user the sections do appear in the dolphin places
panel. So I suspect something in my configuration files in ~/.config has made
them disappear? But I can't find out how to get them back.

This bug has been around for a long time for me - not sure when I last saw
these sections in the places panel, it might be years ago, so I can't blame any
specific version.

Any ideas how to get them back?

Patrick, I don't believe that's correct. My problem is simply that the sections
in the Places panel are completely missing, it's not that the search itself
doesn't work. If I enter "timeline:/" in the location bar it will work just
fine. There's just no way to get to that location from the places panel... Same
for recent files.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 399646] New: Brightness control adjusts the wrong backlight control (multiple GPUs)

2018-10-11 Thread Bastian Beischer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399646

Bug ID: 399646
Summary: Brightness control adjusts the wrong backlight control
(multiple GPUs)
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bastian.beisc...@rwth-aachen.de
  Target Milestone: ---

When using my laptops (Lenovo W520) FN-keys to adjust the display brightness
the OSD shows up and the sliders change, but the display brightness does not.

This laptop has two physical GPUs (Intel + NVIDIA), depending on the BIOS
settings you can use either Intel, NVIDIA by themselves or both. I have a PRIME
setup where I'm using both GPUs, the Intel GPU is the main one and the other
one is normally asleep, unless I plug in an external monitor.

I have to providers for backlight in /sys/class:

/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight
/sys/class/backlight/nv_backlight

Both have "type" = "raw".

Even when I don't have a secondary monitor connected (and the NVIDIA GPU isn't
used at all) I can see that the nv_backlight/brightness value changes when
using the brightness control, but that's the wrong one!

Now I have had a quick glance at the code of the brightness controls, which
appears to either use a whitelist of backlight providers, or goes through all
the providers and picks the first one (since they both have type raw).

Because there surely are users who have NVIDIA as a primary GPU and Intel as a
secondary one, it is possible that a hardcoded list of preferences will never
satisfy all parties. Maybe a setting in ~/.config could be used to specify the
correct device?

[konsole] [Bug 380879] New: [Qt 5.9] Konsole tabbar does not have empty space at the right side anymore

2017-06-06 Thread Bastian Beischer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380879

Bug ID: 380879
Summary: [Qt 5.9] Konsole tabbar does not have empty space at
the right side anymore
   Product: konsole
   Version: 17.04.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: tabbar
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: bastian.beisc...@rwth-aachen.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Arch Linux updated Qt to 5.9.0 and since then konsole tabbar does not have any
"empty space" at the right side of the tabbar anymore. I'm talking about the
space which you can double click to open a new tab.

For example, with a single tab, the tab used to span from the left to about
half of the bar and the right half was empty. With Qt 5.9.0 this is no longer
the case: The tab spans the entire bar.

Might be a Qt 5.9.0 bug, but maybe not...

Some effects in kwin like "present windows", but also "show desktop grid" and
others cannot be left anymore with the keyboard. I have present windows bound
to Ctrl+F9 and when I press this shortcut the effect triggers correctly.
However, with older versions of Plasma I was able to stop the effect with
another press of Ctrl+F9 (or by pressing ESC).

This does not work anymore. I think this is a regression in Plasma 5.10, since
I did not notice the same problem in Plasma 5.9.5. However, Qt was also
recently updated to 5.9 in Arch Linux, so it may also be a problem in Qt.

Components:

Platform: Arch Linux x86_64
Plasma 5.10.0

KDE Applications 17.04.1
Qt 5.9.0

In case the debuggee command line was very long the GUI expands in width to
meet the space requirements of the long debuggee string. It can't be shrinked

This wouldn't be too bad, but it get's problematic when the string is really
long, then parts of the GUI don't fit on the screen and this can't be solved.

[kwin] [Bug 374998] New: Laptop gets stuck after login

Bug ID: 374998
Summary: Laptop gets stuck after login
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.8.95
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@kchr.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,
I wanted to try wayland with the new beta, but after login plasmashell does not
start and I only can move my mouse. After some time, the mouse also stucks and
I have to reset my laptop. I also tried to start a plasma session by hand with
startplasmacompositor and that is working, but as I start plasmashell (from a
different tty) my laptop stucks again.

I am using the kernel modesetting driver for my Intel GPU.

[kwin] [Bug 374998] Laptop gets stuck after login

2017-01-13 Thread Bastian Köcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374998

Okay, first I tried to go the normal way by choosing the plasma Wayland session
in sddm. Doing this results in a stuck laptop after a minute and I have to hard
reset.

My second way was to go into tty2, stop sddm and run startplasmacompositor.
Wait some time and then I switched to tty3 and executed the following command
"DISPLAY=:0 plasmashell". After running the last command my laptop hangs again
and I have to hard reset.

I hope that explains better what I have done.

[plasmashell] [Bug 373075] Changing Resolution hides programs in task manager

2017-01-18 Thread Bastian Köcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373075

Hi,
I am now using the 5.9 beta and that bug should be fixed in this release?
Because I still observe the bug. If I remove my second screen, the applications
in the task manager are not updated nor I can click on the applications that
are visible in the task manager.

[plasmashell] [Bug 370030] New: Digital Clock is too wide on smaller panels

2016-10-05 Thread Bastian Beischer via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370030

Bug ID: 370030
Summary: Digital Clock is too wide on smaller panels
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Digital Clock
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bastian.beisc...@rwth-aachen.de

I just updated to Plasma 5.8.0 LTS and since the update the Digital Clock in my
Panel takes up too much space (it is too wide, i.e. there's lots of extra white
space to the left and to the right of the actual time string in the panel).

Other people on Arch have found the same problem and have uploaded a
screenshots here:

http://imgur.com/CQeifwj

Mine is even wider.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Plasma 5.8.0 LTS
2. Add a Digital Clock Applet to your panel
3. Reduce the vertical size of the panel.

Actual Results:
Width of the Digital Clock Applet should scale accordingly.

Expected Results:
Digital Clock Applet is too wide.

This bug still exists in Plasma 5.8.0 LTS. It would be nice to see this fixed.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 370160] New: System Load Viewer with Circular Mode: Gaps between circles are too large

2016-10-05 Thread Bastian Beischer via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370160

Bug ID: 370160
Summary: System Load Viewer with Circular Mode: Gaps between
circles are too large
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: systemloadviewer
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bastian.beisc...@rwth-aachen.de

I'm using Plasma 5.8.0 LTS and I have the "System Load Viewer" applet in my
panel. I've set it to "Circular" display and there's a very visible gap between
the circles, almost as large as the circles themselves.

It's possible that this only happens with reasonable small panel vertical
sizes. I've mine set to be smaller than the default.

This particular problem did not exist in one of the recent other Plasma
releases, although I can't say exactly which version was OK.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure you're running Plasma 5.8.0 LTS
2. Add the System Load Viewer applet to the panel
3. Set the applet to "Circular" display mode.
4. Playing around with the vertical size of the panel helps to illustrate the
problem.

Actual Results:
The gap between the circles is too large.

Expected Results:
There should be only a small gap between the circles.
