[plasmashell] [Bug 459724] New: Black Desktop / Desktop Reset (Mutiple Monitor Setup)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459724 Bug ID: 459724 Summary: Black Desktop / Desktop Reset (Mutiple Monitor Setup) Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.25.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: Desktop Containment Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: abys...@yahoo.com CC: notm...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Can someone have a look at this thread? Please don't mark this thread as a duplicate and toss it aside. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427861 It has been sprawling forever and the black desktop/desktop reset (background resets, notes, widgets, etc..) with multiple monitor setups. It is almost impossible to use your desktop for anything as it will either randomly be completely reset (a new container is created in plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc). Literally just get an extra monitor and use KDE with it for a few days/weeks, I'm sure you'll experience the issues many of us are. I'm at a loss as I love KDE, but constantly fighting this issue is slowly driving many away from using KDE. This bug is still present in 5.25 and though I haven't had a chance to try 5.26, I would think it is also present there as well. Any help is appreciated as it is driving us all nuts to not be able to actually utilize a major components of this desktop environment, along with having to redo things it desides to randomly reset our desktops. Easy to reproduce the black desktop: 1. Leave your computer idle 2. Let your monitors go to sleep 3. Wake up the system and login 4. You should have now a black desktop on one of your monitors Desktop reset is random, and can happen either using the steps above, or just randomly on a login to the system. Many many posts in the linked thread should be beneficial to eradicating these issues going forward. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 472454] New: AutoStart Fails To Run Non FlatPak/Snap Applications and Login/Logout Scripts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472454 Bug ID: 472454 Summary: AutoStart Fails To Run Non FlatPak/Snap Applications and Login/Logout Scripts Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: 5.27.6 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: kcm_autostart Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: abys...@yahoo.com CC: nicolas.fe...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY AutoStart will not start bash scripts or non Flatpak/Snap based installed applications. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a bash script which attempts to start another application, calls a python script, etc... 2. Add this script to AutoStart as a login script 3. Reboot and see if it runs or 1. Add an AutoStart entry for an application that is not a Flatpak or Snap application (something installed via .deb or APT) 2. Reboot and see if it runs OBSERVED RESULT It doesn't start the application on login unless it is installed via Flatpak or Snap. Scripts don't seem to execute either. EXPECTED RESULT It starts the script or application on login. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.27 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-46-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics Memory: 16.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5500 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This shortcut was created through the AutoStart GUI, marked executable, and placed in the ~/.config/autostart directory. For some odd reason it will not execute on login, and I've even tried creating my own .desktop file to no avail with and without Terminal=true. The python script runs fine if ran from a terminal, so I know it works. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[ark] [Bug 474348] New: [Request] Ark (Show open file path in addition to the file name)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474348 Bug ID: 474348 Summary: [Request] Ark (Show open file path in addition to the file name) Classification: Applications Product: ark Version: 23.08.0 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: elvis.angelac...@kde.org Reporter: abys...@yahoo.com CC: aa...@kde.org, rthoms...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- I have a feature request: I would like to be able to see the file path of the archive I have open in addition to the file name in the header. The problem is that when I open two archives with the same name in different directories, if I get distracted for some reason and mix them up, I have no way to tell them apart from the ark interface, as it doesn't display the path to what it has open anywhere; it only shows the name of the archive. Have I missed an option somewhere that would enable this functionality? [kwin] [Bug 471360] New: Notification Tooltip Text Scaling Issue
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471360 Bug ID: 471360 Summary: Notification Tooltip Text Scaling Issue Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.27.6 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: abys...@yahoo.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 159845 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=159845&action=edit Example SUMMARY When moving mouse between notification icons the tooltip will warp and scale smaller text when moving between tooltips with more text to those with less text. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Move mouse over notification icons in quick succession OBSERVED RESULT Text scaling seems to stretch the text to fill the notification area when there is less text to display when moving from a larger tooltip. EXPECTED RESULT Text not to scale to a larger size, possibly not show the text until the animation for resizing the tooltip is finished or possibly decrease the time it takes to resize the tooltip window display area between separate item mouse overs. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.27 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-45-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics Memory: 16.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5500 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 471556] New: Dolphin Search Do Not Properly Display Matching Results
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471556 Bug ID: 471556 Summary: Dolphin Search Do Not Properly Display Matching Results Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 23.04.2 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: search Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: abys...@yahoo.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 159967 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=159967&action=edit Example SUMMARY When searching for files in folders within dolphin it is very hit or miss for a match when the text clearly contains the characters being searched for. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a new folder and name it whatever you want 2. Create a few new files in that directory with several different variations of the same name, and possibly contain other special characters like underscores or dashes 3. Type in the word or characters that you know are included in all the files and see which ones match 4. Remove a character at a time to see how the search varies (you should see several files you created during this exercise do not show up in the results) 5. (Bonus bug) If you take it one step further and clear the search and press enter it will then list the folder that contains the files in addition to the files as if they were all in the same directory and not directly within that folder (the folder should never appear in a search within itself) OBSERVED RESULT Several files do not show up when searching, different variations of file names seem to determine what shows in the search results regardless of if the file contains the character sequence. EXPECTED RESULT For it to show all matching criteria regardless of what the file is called as long as it includes the character sequence entered in the search. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Dolphin: 23.04.2 Operating System: KDE neon 5.27 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-45-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics Memory: 16.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 5500 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
