There simply > is no concept of standalone date or time format. There is nothing requiring KDE applications to use the POSIX locale infrastructure itself. In fact, as you surely know, they actually don't behind the scenes: QLocale internally translates the POSIX locales to ICU locales and uses the ICU infrastructure (which is unfortunately not any better, and the translation also means custom glibc locales, or even the glibc en_DK locale, do not work in Qt applications). Up to KDE 4, they used KLocale which bypassed the POSIX locale infrastructure entirely and was much more customizable, so in my view it is no surprise that users do not understand why this functionality was removed with no viable replacement. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 501354] New: 100% brightness in the Brightness and Colour plasmoid correlates to 30% brightness in the VCP firmware, and this cannot be overridden.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501354 Bug ID: 501354 Summary: 100% brightness in the Brightness and Colour plasmoid correlates to 30% brightness in the VCP firmware, and this cannot be overridden. Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.2.5 Platform: Fedora RPMs URL: https://discuss.kde.org/t/disable-kde-monitor-brightne ss-control/25134/3?u=rokejulianlockhart OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Brightness and Color widget Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: 4wy78...@rokejulianlockhart.addy.io CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 179299 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179299&action=edit A Screenshot of the Plasmoid SUMMARY --- Ater invoking `ddcutil getvcp 10`, I see, verbatim: > ~~~YAML > VCP code 0x10 (Brightness): current value =30, max > value = 100 > ~~~ However, as the attached screenshot depicts, the Brightness and Colour plasmoid returns 100% for this value. Consequently, I am restricted to 30% brightness, but *can* reduce it to 0%. STEPS TO REPRODUCE -- I don't know, because I don't know when this commenced. However, this OS installation is barely 2 days old, and I've done little more to it than add RPMFusion, and Mesa Freeworld from it. This did not reproduce on my previous installation. OBSERVED RESULT --- 100% in the plasmoid correlates to 30% brightness in the VCP firmware, and how to rectify this isn't evident. Attempting to modify the brightness to > 30% via `ddcutil setvcp 10 $int` momentarily applies that value before it is reverted. The same occurs if set via the monitor's integrated VCP GUI (accessible via physical buttons). EXPECTED RESULT --- 100% in the plasmoid shouldn't correlate to 30% brightness in the VCP firmware. It should correlate to 100%. [systemsettings] [Bug 501305] New: Tablet calibration doesn't work properly with some graphics tablets not supported by Linux Wacom driver and can mess up the mapping
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501305 Bug ID: 501305 Summary: Tablet calibration doesn't work properly with some graphics tablets not supported by Linux Wacom driver and can mess up the mapping Classification: Applications Product: systemsettings Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_tablet Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: a...@public.simplelogin.com CC: aleix...@kde.org, j...@redstrate.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Tablet calibration doesn't work properly with some graphics tablets that are using proprietary user-space drivers and are not supported by Linux Wacom (Veikk A30 tablet in my case). First of all I can't see the pointer when calibrating, and it seems that the screen mapping in the calibration window is incorrect to begin with because I'm not able to tap the second target and the following ones (this happens in this window only, I don't really need calibration because it's already good by default, I just wanted to try this feature). The first time I tried it I touched the upper left corner of the tablet screen but couldn't proceed with the calibration, so I hit "Cancel". And yet the calibration got misconfigured and I couldn't use my tablet on Wayland. Why isn't there a "reset to defaults" option? I tried clicking on "Defaults" but nothing changed, still misconfigured. I had to delete the tablet configuration in ~/.config/kcminputrc to reset it correctly. The calibration matrix was full of "Nan". STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect a graphics tablet like Veikk's (not supported by Linux Wacom) and make sure that the proprietary user-space driver is installed and no other kernel-space drivers compatible with the tablet are installed or active (like OpenTabletDriver). 2. In Drawing Tablet settings click on the pen tab and then "Calibrate". 3. Try to follow the instructions for calibration and press "Cancel" if you're not able to proceed. OBSERVED RESULT Can't calibrate correctly, the mapping gets messed up making the tablet unusable. Can't reset the calibration from the settings. EXPECTED RESULT If I press on "Cancel" it shouldn't mess up with the default mapping. If the tablet is not supported, the calibrate option shouldn't affect its default mapping in any way instead of messing it up. PC3/SpinBox: don't read implicitsize of loader before it's ready Spinbox uses a Loader to conditionally load the editable or non-editable version of the textinput background. The Loader coming in confuses the implicit size assignment and leads to a binding loop for a moment before settling on a proper value. This seems harmless, but causes a warning to be printed each time a PC3 SpinBox is created. Instead, just wait until the Loader is ready, and consider its implicit size to be 0 until then. [kaddressbook] [Bug 501331] New: Syncing Google Contacts with kAddressbook / Kontact results in phone number and email address label changes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501331 Bug ID: 501331 Summary: Syncing Google Contacts with kAddressbook / Kontact results in phone number and email address label changes Classification: Applications Product: kaddressbook Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: qrf4c5...@mozmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 179282 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179282&action=edit Screenshots showing label changes for kAddressbook created contact. Syncing a Google account addressbook with kAddressbook results in phone number and email address labels being changes. This bug goes back to at least 2023. I have previously reported it on two occasions: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487889 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475649 The labels affected are those used to classify phone numbers and email addresses such as 'Mobile', 'Home', 'Work', 'Other', etc. Usually but not always they are changed when the account is synced from kAddressbook to Google but sometimes changes occur immediately on import. Changes also occur within kAddressbook with newly contacts before they are synced to Google. It would appear that kAddressbook initiates the changes. Depending on whether a new contact is created within kAddressbook or through the Google Contacts web interface directly, changes are either uni-directional or bi-directional. This results in labels that are mismatched in addition to being wrong. To clearly illustrate this problem I created a new Google Groupware account in kAddressbook using a new Google account. I then created two test contacts, one through the Google Contacts web interface and one from within kAddressbook and proceeded to sync them several times. I took a screenshot of each contact as I created it and a screenshot of the contact at both the kAddressbook and Google Contacts ends after each sync. The attached images, "GoogleCreatedTestContact.png" and "KontactCreatedTestKontact.png", show these screenshots in sequence for each of the test cases along with the label changes described above. This only seems to happen with Google Contact addressbooks. I have not been able to reproduce it in other addressbooks. STEPS TO REPRODUCE FOR "TEST KONTACT" created in kAddressbook 1. Create a new contact in a Google Contact address book within kAddressbook having phone numbers labelled 'Mobile', 'Home', and 'Work' and an email address labelled 'Home' and save it. 2. Observe that immediately upon save the phone number labelled 'Mobile' retains that label but within 5 seconds that label will change to 'Home'. 3. Sync the address book with Google Contacts and from within the Google Contacts web interface observe that notwithstanding the changes made in 2., the new contact shows labels for all phone number labels as they were created. i.e. 'Mobile' is shown as 'Mobile', etc. 3. In kAddressbook perform another sync and observe that the ALL labels on all phone numbers and email get changed. 'Work' to 'Home', 'Home' to 'Work', etc. 4. Perform another sync and from Google Contacts web interface observe that all labels now reflect the same values as those shown in kAddressbook in step 3. 5. Perform another sync and now back in kAddressbook observe that all labels have been changed and are different to those shown on Google in Step 4. 6. Perform another sync and observe that all labels on Google get changed and now match those in kAddressbook Step 5. 7. Perform yet another sync and observe that now all kAddressbook labels match those shown on Google. 8. All subsequent sync result in labels matching. NB: matching does not mean they're correct. STEPS TO REPRODUCE FOR "TEST CONTACT" created in Google Contacts. 1. Create a new contact on Google Contacts through the web interface having phone numbers labelled 'Mobile', 'Home', and 'Work' and an email address labelled 'Home' and save it. 2. In kAddressbook perform a sync and observe that ALL phone number and email labels the new contact get changed. 'Home' to 'Work', 'Work' to 'Home', 'Mobile' to 'Home', etc. and do not match those on Google. 3. Perform another sync and in Google Contacts observe that all labels get changed and now match those shown in kAddressbook Step 2. 4. Perform another sync and in kAddressbook observe that all labels get changed and now do not match those shown in Google. OBSERVED RESULT When syncing between kAddressbook and Google, labels are changed in the following way: - when both kAddressbook and Google labels match, kAddressbook labels are changed to mismatch on the next sync. - when kAddressbook and Google labels do NOT match, Google labels are changed to match kAddressbook on next sync. [KScreen] [Bug 501346] New: KCM reports impossible and wrong configurations, making it very difficult to deal with multi-monitor setups
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501346 Bug ID: 501346 Summary: KCM reports impossible and wrong configurations, making it very difficult to deal with multi-monitor setups Classification: Plasma Product: KScreen Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: common Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: sephiroth...@hotmail.it Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 179293 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179293&action=edit Screenshot of the KCM in an inconsistent state SUMMARY With multi-monitor setups, the KCM reports patently absurd screen configurations that make no sense whatsoever. As an example, see the screenshot: there are three monitors (one is the laptop's), and one is enabled but not correctly displayed so it can't be dragged nor interacted with. The KCM does not enable the "apply" button if I change the mirroring (so it stays disabled whether I make it mirror the laptop's screen, or whether I don't). The whole thing is inconsistent to the point I cannot understand what is going on. I suspect this might be related to bug 466297, as this situation arises when the laptop screen is disabled (e.g. if I close the lid, or if the system boots with the lid closed). In any case, this makes it extremely frustrating to use Plasma as it requires 10+ minutes of troubleshooting every time. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use a laptop with a multi-screen setup 2. (maybe) mirror your laptop's screen to another monitor OBSERVED RESULT The KCM reports wrong, inconsistent and/or impossible configurations, and behaves erratically. EXPECTED RESULT The KCM reports the actual state and allows you to modify it. [korganizer] [Bug 501336] New: Adding remote iCal does not automatically enable read only option preventing sync
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501336 Bug ID: 501336 Summary: Adding remote iCal does not automatically enable read only option preventing sync Classification: Applications Product: korganizer Version: 6.3.3 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org Reporter: sjoha...@outlook.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When adding a remote iCal file using a URL, the read only option, which is needed for the calendar to sync properly, is not enabled despite what is stated in the dialogue box. Without ticking this box, Akonadi is unable to sync the calendar as it gets stuck trying to write to a read only calendar. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Go to calendars section of KOrganizer 2. Add "iCal Calendar File" 3. Enter URL linking to a .ics file OBSERVED RESULT "Read only" box remains unticked. EXPECTED RESULT "Read only" box is ticked automatically to allow the calendar to sync. [kwin] [Bug 501344] New: On X11, open/save dialogues are opened on the wrong monitor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501344 Bug ID: 501344 Summary: On X11, open/save dialogues are opened on the wrong monitor Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: sephiroth...@hotmail.it Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Open/save dialogues are opened on a different monitor from that of the parent window on X11. This is very annoying and frustrating. This seems to only happen with KDE/Plasma dialogues of non-Qt-native applications; as an example, this happens with Slack and Vivaldi which use the KDE/Plasma dialogue although they are not Qt-native applications. GTK dialogues are opened correctly on the monitor where the parent window is. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Invoke an open/save dialogue from a non-Qt-native application (e.g. in Slack) OBSERVED RESULT The dialogue does not open on the same monitor. EXPECTED RESULT The dialogue opens on the same monitor. [plasmashell] [Bug 500492] Widgets are blank (no content) after a reboot, or sleep/wake cycle
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500492 --- Comment #10 from incan...@gmail.com --- I can add some more info on this issue now, which I think would count as a cause but not an explanation (!?) It seems I had a quite unusual motherboard fault on the i7-6700K based machine that I initially installed KDE Neon on. What's remarkable is that when I pulled the innards out of that machine and replaced them with a new AM5 motherboard, Ryzen 7700 CPU, and supporting components like RAM, ANOTHER fault of the same type occurred on the new system! The nature of the fault(s) is- 1) A device on the motherboard (in the 2 examples I have, these were USB root hub devices on the motherboard) fails to initialise properly, but fails in a "noisy" way. This causes the USB driver stack to get stuck in a loop continually re-enumerating the device tree. That's my non-expert interpretation. I had help from the kernel USB driver maintainers who looked at usbmon logs from the newer machine and this is their expert analysis- "The usbmon trace shows that port 4 on bus 2 generates a continual stream of link-state-change events, constantly interrupting the system and consuming computational resources. That's why the performance goes way down. I can't tell what's causing those link-state changes. It _looks_ like what you would get if there was an intermittent electrical connection causing random voltage fluctuations. ..." So, it seems the underlying cause is a hardware fault in my case. However it is noteworthy (I think) that the performance impacts seem to particularly affect the desktop environment, including having the strange effect of tending to make the refresh of panel widgets fail. This issue clearly isn't something the desktop environment is responsible for, so this bug needs to be closed. However I suggest it might be worth considering- 1) Filing this info away in the memory banks (bug knowledge base?) in case another issue with strange performance slowdowns comes up 2) Is there any way the DE could detect and highlight a situation like this? I have to wonder if there are machines out there that have been running dog-slow for months or years, or even driven the user to ditch Linux and/or KDE, with the user unaware of the root cause because (like most people?) they don't make a habit of looking at dmesg output. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kio-extras] [Bug 414097] Preview folder icons not repainted automatically after color scheme change
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414097 --- Comment #18 from Sadi --- Unfortunately, it proved to be a brief honeymoon; the problem came back next day. Getting rid of this suspected "wallpaperplugin=org.kde.image/slideshow" inconsistency below "plugin=org.kde.plasma.folder" and "plugin=org.kde.panel" entries, or even completely removing such "wallpaperplugin=org.kde.image/slideshow" lines manually seems to force a temporary fix sometimes. I hope this might at least give some additional clue for fixing this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krunner] [Bug 501350] New: When the mouse cursor hovers over a result, using the keyboard to navigate results does nothing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501350 Bug ID: 501350 Summary: When the mouse cursor hovers over a result, using the keyboard to navigate results does nothing Classification: Plasma Product: krunner Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sephiroth...@hotmail.it CC: alexander.loh...@gmx.de, natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When invoking KRunner, the mouse takes precedence over everything else when determining which result should be highlighted. This means that using the keyboard to navigate between results is impossible if the mouse cursor happens to be hovering over one of them. As an example of why this is inconvenient and unwanted behaviour, you might have the mouse cursor in the middle of the screen and invoke KRunner; at that point you can't navigate between results using your keyboard because the mouse cursor is already there and prevents it, even though it was never your intention to use it to select a result. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Invoke KRunner 2. Move the mouse cursor on a result 3. Try to move between results using the keyboard OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens. EXPECTED RESULT The keyboard takes precedence over the mouse and the highlighted result changes according to keyboard input. [kdeconnect] [Bug 501352] New: Old certificate used when calculating verification key
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501352 Bug ID: 501352 Summary: Old certificate used when calculating verification key Classification: Applications Product: kdeconnect Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: android-application Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: dan...@landau.fi CC: andrew.g.r.hol...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The verification key shown is wrong when the other device has been paired before, but has since changed certificate. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Pair a device 2. Change certificate/key on the other device 3. Perhaps restart KDE Connect Android (not sure if required) 4. KDE Connect Android now shows the device as remembered device currently unavailable 5. Unpair it 6. Now it shows up in Available devices and you can pair it but the verification key is wrong. You can force stop and restart KDE Connect Android at this point, and the verification key is correct. I don't have 100% conclusive proof that it's the other side certificate, but IMO that's a very plausible reason for the effect I'm seeing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
