In KWin it's only work when direct scanout is engaged. When direct scanout doesn't work (HDR, cursor drawing) KWin puts surface to the left side of the output and doesn't fill borders with anything. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Make sure direct scanout won't engage 2. Launch any SDL3 (or SDL2 with sdl2-compat installed) application with next environment variables: SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=wayland SDL_VIDEO_WAYLAND_MODE_SCALING=aspect 3. I'm bandwidth restricted currently and tried to update only the plasmashell tools to current but it failed (plasmashell: symbol lookup error: plasmashell: undefined symbol: _ZNK6Plasma6Corona9immutableEv). Both the 6.6 and 6.12.7 and kernels have issues yet behave slightly differently. With 6.6 I could switch tty and switch back to be able to hover over the password dialog and type it blindly to be thrown into the desktop. 6.12.7 freezes for a couple of minutes and displays the desktop eventually. I can test again when I'm able to do a full upgrade but this issue has been with me across multiple distros and two machines. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479250 --- Comment #30 from thesword --- The issue still persists with kwin 6.3.2. The issue happens because kwin is almost single threaded, see https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/issues/174. Only atomic commit operations have a dedicated thread, but this is no enough to prevent missing frames because some components of Kwin such as animation effects take more than 1 frame time to load and happen in the same thread as the render, then we are observing screen stutters. [KRdp] [Bug 501229] krdpserver segfaults when trying to connect
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501229 --- Comment #7 from Harald Sitter --- The plot thickens. Couple of thoughts: a) is pipewire running and working? b) is there something special about your setup? do you have a source build or something of plasmashell/xdg-desktop-portal-kde/kwin? the "Cannot grant a token to" specifically suggests that your plasmashell is getting rejected from talking to kwin, which usually means kwin cannot find plasma's desktop file in /usr/share/applications. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Skanlite] [Bug 501183] Skanlite terminate called after throwing an instance of…
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501183 --- Comment #8 from Olivier BELLEUX --- Hi, As I had an urgent document to scan, I used the graphic application ‘Epson scan 2’ which works (not great). So I hadn't thought that it could be a driver problem. I have tried to uninstall epsonscan2; skanlite/skanpage starts up but cannot find a scanner (of course). After reinstalling epsonscan2, the bug reappears. I conclude that it is a bug caused by the epson driver. Unfortunately for me it's the only one available. Thank you for pointing me in this direction ; it's the only one I hadn't considered. For me the bug seems to be closed Thank you for your time and help Good afternoon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 477939] On Wayland, having multiple panels sharing the same edge cause notifications and widgets to not touch their edge
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477939 --- Comment #36 from Edip --- Created attachment 179228 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179228&action=edit sway-with-plasmashell-panels-positioned-correct Today I was trying to fix this issue because its so annoying no one was trying to solve it i wasnt able to solve it yet, though. I found up that it looks like the issue is not related to plasmashell; looks like it's related to kwin's implementation of the layer-shell protocol. I'm not sure, but I think it's that KWin doesn't handle the exclusiveZone correctly. shortly what i did: 1- i cloned kde-builder and i ran kde-builder workspace to build plasma, then i logged in to plasma development (wayland) session 2- i cloned https://github.com/wmww/gtk-layer-shell/ and fiddled around gtk-layer-demo 3- then i created 3 panels (on the left side of the screen, all of them are fit content; one is top, one is bottom, and one is center aligned). 4- i logged out and then logged into Sway and ran `plasmashell` command in Sway. 5- The panels were correctly positioned (included in the attachment) 6- i have started to try to read and understand the code/logic behind the panels and layer-shell implementation in kwin -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Skanlite] [Bug 501183] Skanlite terminate called after throwing an instance of…
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501183 --- Comment #9 from Olivier BELLEUX --- Re-hi Sometimes I have flashes of genius... without meaning to. Since the scanner worked fine with Skanlite/Skanpage until recently, then I just need to downgrade epsonscan2. Obviously it's no longer available on Epson website... Which leads me to think that this could well be deliberately induced software obsolescence. Fortunately for me I regularly back up my data on 2 HDDs with Rsync and Borg. So I take out the HDD, open Vorta, mount an archive from July 2024, in which I find an old version of the driver. I installed it, ran Skanlite and Skanpage and it worked again. Phew! So the bug wasn't easy to identify, but it was simply fixed. Once again, thank you and have a good evening. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501242 Bug ID: 501242 Summary: Temporary disconnecting non-primary screen mess up screen indexing Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: multi-screen Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: ad...@arkades.org Target Milestone: --- The display priority settings in display configuration does not correlate to `randr --listmonitors` indices. Is that intentional? I just experienced a situation where the second of three screens had to be disconnected temporarly. After reconnecting it, its index became 3. This wrong order persisted across reboot. To restore the original indexing I had to connect primary and second screen. Then reboot. Afterwards I had to connect the 3rd screen, and reboot again. Create a notification with the Notification portal with an action. I'm doing this by running an electron app with libnotify within a flatpak & executing `new Notification("hi").onclick = () => console.log("clicked")` 2. Click the notification OBSERVED RESULT When clicking the notification no ActionInvoked signal is emitted. confirmed by seeing no "clicked" log message. Running dbus-monitor shows the signal is not fired. EXPECTED RESULT The signal is fired allowing the app to trigger actions while sandboxxed. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION libnotify uses the raw dbus protocol when not sandboxed which is why this isnt an issue for non-sandboxxed apps. I am using an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT and a Dell S2421HGF (non-HDR). This previously wasn't an issue when the color changes hit with 6.3, although I'm not exactly sure when this broke for me. Probably with 6.3.2, as I didn't seem to notice this on 6.3.1. OBSERVED RESULT https://files.catbox.moe/bw9hii.jpg EXPECTED RESULT Shadows being unnoticeable/black on a dark/black background (and not having a red tinge). It wasn't an issue prior to 6.3. I was unable to take a photo that demonstrates the problem. Here is a link to the background which renders unexpectedly: https://files.catbox.moe/dhu4lz.png • When using the "Built-in" color profile and "Prefer color accuracy" everything is working as intended. • When night light is disabled, everything is perfectly fine, including dark blues, regardless of settings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

In this instance and report, it happened when I merely opened the OBS application. This is par for the course when a crash like this happens. AMDGPU successfully resets, but some of the applications refuse to open, some applications that can open just lead to another crash, and some applications just open normally without problems. This behavior ONLY occurs post initial AMDGPU crash and reset when playing Marvel Rivals, and ONLY if the GPU successfully resets. But, the behavior goes away after a full system restart. === That said, my main issue is with Marvel Rivals. I have a random GPU crash that happens ONLY when I play Marvel Rivals on Steam. I've read on multiple threads that the RDNA 2 GPUs, specifically, don't play too well with Unreal games. One of the threads in question: https://community.amd.com/t5/pc-graphics/my-rx-6800-keeps-crashing-to-desktop/m-p/441086/highlight/true#M71472 The link above mentioned a -100 MHz clock to both the stock minimum and boost clocks, to prevent the GPU from voltage spiking. I did this using a custom power profile in CoreCTRL that activates when the game launches. It also mentioned the issue could be PSU power draw related, and the workaround was to use two PCIe power cable rather than just the one cable with the double connector. I did that, and I even tried to plug the system to the wall rather than the power strip I was using, to see if that helped. These workarounds reduced the crashes, but they're still very much present. The worst part is that it's very RANDOM. Sometimes it crashes in the middle of a game, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it resets to desktop, and sometimes it hangs on a frozen and artifacted screen. Usually, the system just fails to reset AMDGPU after a crash in Marvel Rivals, resulting in a blackscreen and a frozen screen with artifacting that rotates every 10 seconds trying to (unsuccessfully) reset the GPU. 90% of the time, I'm forced to do a hard shutdown of the system, which is not ideal. On an unrelated note, this was also an issue in the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Test, but it has since been fixed in the full release so far. I'm at a loss, and I'm starting to think the GPU itself is the culprit. === Here's the JournalCTL output from the initial Marvel Rivals crash that came before this current crash report below: user@system:~$ journalctl --system -b Mar 08 22:55:26 system abrt-server[12022]: Deleting problem directory ccpp-2025-03-08-22:55:18.588229-2570 (dup of ccpp-2024-11-24-00:51:53.626220-2389) Mar 08 22:55:26 system abrt-notification[12377]: [🡕] Process 2389 (Xwayland) crashed in amdgpu_ctx_create(radeon_winsys*, radeon_ctx_priority, bool)() Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: Dumping IP State Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: Dumping IP State Completed Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: [gfxhub] page fault (src_id:0 ring:24 vmid:3 pasid:32771) Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: in process kwin_wayland pid 2429 thread kwin_wayla:cs0 pid 2491 Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: in page starting at address 0x80001000 from client 0x1b (UTCL2) Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: GCVM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS:0x00301431 Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: Faulty UTCL2 client ID: SQC (data) (0xa) Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu :0c:00.0: amdgpu: MORE_FAULTS: 0x1 Mar 08 22:55:28 system kernel: amdgpu 00
