Committed on 04/03/2025 at 07:58. Pushed by broulik into branch 'release/24.12'. afc: Explicitly toUpper device ID when inserting AfcUrl upper-cases the device id but we didn't explicitly do this when inserting/removing the device, so when a device has a lower-case ID, it will fail to find it. [plasmashell] [Bug 500330] [plasma-nm] Disconnection but available network icon uses /Devices rather than from /places folder.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500330 varlesh changed: What|Removed |Added CC||varl...@gmail.com --- Comment #11 from varlesh --- If you use MONOCHROME icons for widgets, why you not use -symbolic prefix for that? For ALL! You currently have a mix of symbolic icons and regular ones. It's hard to develop icon themes and track changes. network-wired - it's devices icon, not status!!! It's not monochrome or symbolic icon. network-wired-available - it's status icon. NOT MONOCHROME AND NOT SYMBOLIC! network-wired-available-symbolic - it's monochrome symbolic icon. Papirus used on other DE's too and we need to be compatible with all desktop environments, not just KDE. I'm not happy at all with this decision to add symbolic icons to plasma. You've broken all the icon themes, all the plasma themes... A very bad decision -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 500146] Suggestion to add a convenient customizable timer for screen lock
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500146 John changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ilikef...@waterisgone.com --- Comment #5 from John --- For me, it happened to me that the computer went to sleep in 2 very annoying and frustrating cases: 1. While I've put a huge folder to be copied or moved to another location. 2. While I've put a long running command in Konsole to do something. I don't remember exactly what it was, maybe an rsync or something else. For me it was very annoying that these two long running and potentially dangerous if interrupted actions were not enough to inhibit by default the sleep. I had to start over the copy or move of the huge folder as I could not be sure anymore that the interruptions with the sleep wouldn't have corrupted something from the transfer. It would be great if copy or move in Dolphin and still running commands in Konsole would ihibit the sleep by default. I too forget to that sleep is one and have to turn it off before long running commands as I don't expect that the computer goes off by default, when I leave it alone as it's unnatural to do something that I have not instructed it to do. I understand the reason with the energy saving and I agree with it for the sake of the environment, but I think Plasma could be just a bit smarter about this as idle while copying / moving things or long running commands in the terminal is normal. We can't just always stay near the computer until everything finishes. I think both Dolphin and Konsole should inform Plasma when they are busy doing something. Screen lock is not a problem as actions can continue without problems, but sleep and hibernate is as we can never be sure if the tasks were paused and resumed correctly without anything being lost. In my opinion only Qbittorrent and other similar clients can do that as you can even verify the files afterwards to make sure everything is still there as it supposed to be. I think there is impossible to have unnoticed missing / incomplete / corrupted folders or files. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 501055] New: plasmashell high idle CPU usage
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501055 Bug ID: 501055 Summary: plasmashell high idle CPU usage Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: generic-performance Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: anhollander...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY plasmashell is using CPU time even when it's not being interacted with. It's not actually that high (<1%, not even enough to cause the CPU to come out of idle), but it happens on one system and not on the other. STEPS TO REPRODUCE It just happens all the time. OBSERVED RESULT I observed it initially with htop. Using strace shows that it is calling ppoll() many times per second, with exactly the same parameters. I know of lsfd, but I'm not sure exactly how to determine exactly what file descriptors are being referenced. EXPECTED RESULT On my other system, plasmashell stays idle, only occasionally making futex() syscalls. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501059 Bug ID: 501059 Summary: HDR makes white on black text hard to read (Local Dimming) Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 6.3.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: colour-management Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: murrayt...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 179113 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=179113&action=edit Video of text dimming effect SUMMARY When HDR is enabled my monitor's local dimming kicks in and makes white on black text hard to read (such as in konsole). Local Dimming on my monitor has 3 settings: Off, Auto, Low, High. Only Off looks normal. The text dimming effect is mainly an issue if the background is #000, even slightly above true black reduces the dimming effect greatly. I'm not sure what can be done to solve this issue, but it took me awhile to realize what was causing it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set konsole background to #000 2. Enable monitor local dimming 3. Enable HDR 4. Text is dim and harder to read. Bringing a white window near it brings up the level of the text. OBSERVED RESULT Text is dim unless there is a bright item in the local dimming zone. EXPECTED RESULT Text remains easily readable. The exact wording in question is under Section 2, Functional requirements: > (5) The equipment may offer the user the option to deactivate the > power management function. In such cases the users shall be warned > about the increased energy consumption of that action. > That warning shall be included in the instruction manuals and, > where applicable, be made available on the displays integrated in or > connected to the equipment, excluding information or status displays. > That option shall not be part of the installation procedure of the > equipment and shall require a separate user action on the equipment. We do not yet have this in our UI and we need this to be implemented fairly soon because not having it will prevent KDE Plasma from shipping on devices in Europe once this goes into effect. So we need some kind of in-place warning to users that turning off default power management features will result in increased energy consumption. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 42 (KDE Plasma) KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I was informed of this as part of discussions around Fedora KDE preloads by a major OEM, and there is a similar issue with GNOME on this too: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/3353 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 501058] New: Modifying the toolbar in Konsole is odd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501058 Bug ID: 501058 Summary: Modifying the toolbar in Konsole is odd Classification: Applications Product: konsole Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org Reporter: stereom...@proton.me Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY One thing I do to multiple KDE apps is move the hamburger menu from the right to the left, so the contents are over the window. But doing this in Konsole is broken. Removing the hamburger menu does work, but trying to put it on the left breaks stuff, and beyond removing the hamburger menu, other changes don't seem to be saved. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Click on "Configure Toolbars" on Konsole 2. On the session toolbar, move the "Open Menu" entry to the left 3. Click apply This does get saved. (As in, closing and opening console shows this same state), but 1. Click on "Configure Toolbars" on Konsole 2. On the session toolbar, move the "Open Menu" entry to the left 3. Go to the main toolbar. 4. From the box in the left, put "Open Menu" to the right. 5. Put "Open Menu" to the top on the box to the right (so that it's the 1st button). 6. Click "Save". 7. Observe how multiple different buttons and even another main toolbar called "Main Toolbar " appears. 8. Close Konsole, and reopen it. OBSERVED RESULT The toolbar layout wasn't saved, the layout shown is the same as the default layout but with the hamburger menu on it. EXPECTED RESULT Whatever layout is configured is saved. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501054 Bug ID: 501054 Summary: Please add a way to change / correct a video's aspect ratio Classification: Applications Product: Haruna Version: 1.3.3 Platform: Debian unstable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: generic Assignee: georgefb...@gmail.com Reporter: ilikef...@waterisgone.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Please add a way to change / correct a video's aspect ratio, as the player is unusable without such a thing for certain videos! STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a video that doesn't have the same aspect ratio as the screen. 2. Try to make it have the same aspect ratio as the screen. OBSERVED RESULT Some videos, especially old movies, have been recorded in the 4:3 aspect ration because the TV screens had the same aspect ratio, like for example Gone with the wind. Strangely and very annoying some assholes directors like Zack Snyder are trying to do the same now, even though 99% of the TVs and computer monitors have a 16:9 aspect ratio and some are even wider than that. His latest Justice League movie from 2021 has been recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio: https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/zack-snyder-justice-league-4-3-aspect-ratio/ Because he only cared how it looked like in IMAX cinemas which have an almost square aspect ratio screen. He didn't gave a crap about the fact that watching in cinema is normally a one time event and even worse, many of us may have not been to the cinema when it was launched, so more than 80-90% of the people will see it the first time on their home screens from Blu-rays or streaming services and the screens there are overwhelmingly 16:9. Both Justice League, Gone with the wind and so many other old movies are unwatchable because of the black bars. Even the poll here shows that more than 50% of the people prefer to watch it in widescreen: https://www.ign.com/articles/zack-snyder-cut-justice-league-widescreen-fullframe EXPECTED RESULT 1. To have the ability to fix bad aspect ratios. 2. To have the ability to stretch the video to at least the 16:9 aspect ratio. Similar to how VLC and other video players can do it. Otherwise Haruna is unusable for these kind of videos. I saw that some people even try to fix such videos with Handbrake, but that takes too much space and power, especially for a laptop, so it's better if it's done by the player on the fly. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500782 --- Comment #9 from kdeb...@thewalkingglitch.com --- I have new information on this. I still don't have a definitive way to reproduce this, but I've narrowed down the circumstances. It may be related to an issue with scaling. I keep having issues with Chromium scaling resetting back to 100% from 150%. This can be fairly reliably triggered by locking the session and signing back in. The only way to reset the scaling without restarting Chromium is by going into full screen mode, then exiting it. Somewhere along the line, this causes it to receive input directed towards other QT applications* that it should not be receiving. I'm not sure what exact circumstance causes Chromium to pick up this input that it shouldn't be receiving, but I only seem to encounter it while a video is actively playing, and only when I am inputting into another QT app. I.e if I type into Steam while the video is playing in Chromium, the input doesn't get sent to Chromium, whereas in Firefox or Discover, or Kwrite, it does. I'm leaving the session open for now, and not restarting Chromium, in case anyone here wants me to try something. *I'm not sure what the proper term is, but any application that uses native window decorations? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Pushed by zamundaaa into branch 'master'. workspace: watch kdeglobals and update Xwayland scale accordingly The code assumed that KScreen would send KWin a new output configuration, and thus Workspace::applyOutputConfiguration would run when the Xwayland scale setting is changed. If you can't, there may be some config or cache item that's at > play. I plan to look into filing a ticket for the scaling bug once I've determined whether it's a Chromium or a Plasma bug. I suspect triggering that might be a prerequisite to triggering this. There might also be a time component to this, as I haven't encountered it on a super fresh Chromium process yet. Are there any additional debug settings/flags I can set in plasma/kwin that might also help in identifying this? I plan to start launching Chromium from a terminal so I can see any output it might generate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 500461] kickoff menu grows in size after every login (X11)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500461 TraceyC changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|normal |minor Keywords||X11-only Status|REOPENED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #5 from TraceyC --- I confirm this still happens in Neon User Ed with 6.3.2, as well as Neon Testing. I may have missed this before in Testing. I can't reproduce it in git-master (verified using the top of a widget as a gridline, Solus) I did further testing using Fedora 41 with Plasma 6.3.2 and couldn't reproduce there either, so this looks to be specific to Neon. I'll let the Neon maintainers take it from here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
