[kdenlive] [Bug 500491] Audio playback drops randomly when dragging clips to the timeline.

--- Comment #1 from Jarno van der Kolk ---
Apologies if this is a different bug but it sounds very similar to what I am
experiencing so I believe it may be caused by the same thing.

Every month, I load all video clips from my bike camera into Kdenlive (~10
hours worth) and play each one at 10x speed to search for notable events. The
audio playback sometimes drops when I switch from previewing one clip to the
next.

I've been keeping an eye on the playback device for applications in the Plasma
volume widget and I notice it switches to "no applications playing or recording
sound" when this happens. Like Daryl, only a restart of Kdenlive fixes this.

I think the action of simply selecting a clip (like I do when previewing and
what Daryl does when dragging/dropping) sometimes causes the playback device to
drop and Kdenlive seems unable to recover from that.

In fact, I can reproduce this by loading a project with a few video clips and
rapidly selecting one and then the other several times.

I am also on Arch Linux with Kdenlive 24.12.2.

Document with __DdeLink__74_2326481461 bookmark

SUMMARY
In LibreOffice Writer, bookmarks like __DdeLink___XX appear when
copying text to the clipboard. The document is marked as modified (i.e. simply
copying to the clipboard changes the documents).

This started happening after updating KDE from 6.2.5 to 6.3.0 in openSUSE
Tumbleweed. I suspect this is a KDE bug.

Reproducible on a completely clean installation of the openSUSE Tumbleweed in
VirtualBox. Also reproduces on a clean install of Fedora 41 with KDE 6.3 (but
not with KDE 6.2.5) and Neon with KDE 6.2.90. The same under X11 and Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start LibreOffice Writer
2. Type any text
3. Select a part of text
4. Press Ctrl+C or click copy to clipboard in context menu

OBSERVED RESULT
__DdeLink___XX bookmark appears, the document is marked as
modified.

EXPECTED RESULT
No document modification. Just copy to clipboard, as it was before KDE 6.3.0
(6.2.90).

[Spectacle] [Bug 500543] Spectacle shows wrong cursor when resizing screenshot / screencast region

2025-03-01 Thread Eamonn Rea
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500543

--- Comment #5 from Eamonn Rea  ---
In further testing, the cursor appears until the region is at such a size that
the little "knobs" on the edges and corners of the region actually display
properly - they display incorrectly if the region is at a small size, where
they are offset by a noticeable amount in the opposite direction that they
should display on. It is as if there is a thick box drawn around the region,
and the "knobs" display as though they are attached to that.

I have taken pictures on my phone of both this phenomenon, and the main issue
described in the ticket of the hand icon appearing. The images were taken on a
1920x1080 display.

Note that the region size in pixels should be ignored from the screenshot, as
noted it is not accurate on Spectacle when you have a scaled display anywhere
in the setup (Bug 483155).

screenshot of missing preview in icon only task manager

SUMMARY
When I am hovering my mouse over the icon of an running app on my icon-only
task manager, the preview thumbnail just displays the icon instead of an the
actual app/window. The same goes for the Tab Switcher, just icons instead of a
proper thumbnail. In the overview, there are also just the icons being
displayed, however the bounding boxes of the windows/apps are visible on
hovering.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Unfortunately, I am not 100% sure when it started to happen, but most likely
when I installed the "Orchis Theme KDE" theme
(https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/plasma6-themes-orchis-kde-git) a couple of
days ago.
So far I tried to put all the theming related things back to default and check
all the options I could find regarding preview thumbnails - with no success.

Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Add -symbolic symlinks for value-decrease/increase

In combination with
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/7954 this gives
spinboxes in GTK applications the correct "-" icon, instead of the
fallback "X" icon from list-remove.

[Spectacle] [Bug 500937] New: In the Region mode, provide an obvious way to reset selection to fullscreen

2025-03-01 Thread Jin Liu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500937

Bug ID: 500937
   Summary: In the Region mode, provide an obvious way to reset
selection to fullscreen
Classification: Applications
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: git-master
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: noaha...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ad.liu@gmail.com
CC: k...@david-redondo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Currently, in the Region mode, once the user drag a region, there's no obvious
way to reset the region to fullscreen. And there is a hidden way to reset the
region, but I'm not sure if it's by design.

1. It would be nice to have an explicit button to select fullscreen.
2. Another obvious way is to manually drag from one corner to the other, but
currently it results in a region one-pixel smaller than fullscreen.
3. Currently, right-clicking anywhere would reset the region. But this is
unintuitive. If this is by design, then maybe a prompt text like "right-click
to reset selection" could be added.

Can't reproduce in Plasma 6.3.2 with LUKS1 and LUSK2. Lukasz Konieczny can you
collect the logs?
You can do this by:
* In terminal execute QT_LOGGING_RULES="org.kde.applets.devicenotifier=true"
plasmoidviewer -a org.kde.plasma.devicenotifier &> log.txt
* Reproduce the bug
* Close the terminal or Ctrl + C
* Attach log.txt file to this bug report
Also, what file system are you using on this drive? I've tested with btrfs and
wasn't have any problems

[kdenlive] [Bug 493308] Audio recording not working with specific device (external USB microphone - LCS_USB_Audio driver)

2025-03-01 Thread Slawek Mikula
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493308

--- Comment #2 from Slawek Mikula  ---
Additionally I might add, that this exact device was recording correctly with
previous version of Kdenlive. Don't know exact numbers, but before the
recording architecture overhaul - from Qt5 to Qt6 AFAIK (sorry for this
shortcut). Firstly when early versions of Kdenlive with Qt6 was released the
recording in-app was postponed to next versions. And next when it returns, the
recording hits this bug. I hope this helps a bit.

I can try to fix/fiddle with it (can compile Kdenlive) and provide some tips to
correctly fix it, but if someone could pinpoint area in the code which can be
responsible for this. I think something with creating audio recorder objects
and audio format. Sorry. Not an expert with Qt :) and don't have much time for
digging it by myself.

A related problem has been recently discussed in another bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500025

It seems that the current algorithm KWin uses for automatic switching could be
improved.

To block switching to touch mode when an external keyboard/mouse is connected
is possible. Just make a list of input devices to ignore. If any other input
device presenting itself as keyboard/mouse is detected, do not switch to touch
mode.
I wrote a proof of concept program: https://gitlab.com/wincak/tablet-switch

[kwin] [Bug 500837] Wayland Night Color Mode causes Color Issues (notably on dark areas)

Fedora 41, Plasma 6.3.2, Wayland same thing. Thinkpad T480 (Intel UHD 620)

There are related issues with night light like #500036 and #499103 but it does
get worse on fullscreen rendered/accelerated apps. Games have very blocky
shadows like the gamma is very aggressive (low for dark areas), and it's also
visible on videos. When I play a video in mpv, smplayer or vlc, it's already
affected when not fullscreen. But switching to fullscreen makes it much worse,
shadows get completely clipped. Strangely enough, when I move or click the
mouse (even if it doesn't cause the UI to show), the worse variant disappears
for a few seconds and then comes back.

Btw it doesn't happen in Gnome/Wayland with their implementation of night
light. Can't say for X11 since I can't launch Plasma with it.

--- Comment #19 from Roger  ---
Having this issue on Fedora 41, Plasma 6.3.2. Thinkpad T480 (Intel UHD620), no
ICC, no HDR.

It's just the night color makes everything look odd, especially the dark areas
are pink and clumped together, the rest is more washed out, even on stuff like
web sites. It's like the gamma is way too aggressive. This may be also because
my laptop screen is crap, but I didn't have this problem before the last
update. Night light is set to 3200K at night (right now, it's worse) and 5000K
at day.

Also #500837 and #499103 related, because it's worse in 3D full-screen apps.

Maybe this highlights an issue with the styling of our standard buttons.

Or maybe it shows that our standard buttons only feel button-like at small
sizes, and larger button-like things should be cards instead? Cards have a
stronger hover effect, too.

In Wayland only. Copy one entry and paste it. Copy second entry and only first
entry is pasteable. History only shows first entry. Disabling Clipboard allows
normal copy and paste, but no history. This is the only work-around.

Change to an X11 session and Clipboard works normally.

[dolphin] [Bug 492404] Dolphin doesn't select the parent folder when Up or Back is being pressed

Which doesn't happen for a year yet you made the change and nobody can see the
underlined items.

(In reply to Felix Ernst from comment #29)

There's an option for selection rectangles in Windows as well, still there's no
such measures like this.

(In reply to Felix Ernst from comment #29)

There's a reason no other file manager or OS do it this way. If it's so
important to you, make it an option. and everyone will be happy.

Yes, I also noticed that after this change has landed. Now, when you delete a
file or multiple files, the adjacent file is explicitly selected, and you might
accidentally delete it, which is quite dangerous.

Felix, please revert this change until it's more cleare if it's wanted or not.
Thank you!

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install KDE Connect on macOS Sequoia (via KDE website).
2. Start KDE Connect Indicator (`kdeconnect-indicator`).
3. The KDE Connect icon appears in the macOS menu bar.
4. Click on "Configure" from the menu.
5. The icon disappears, and KDE Connect stops running.

OBSERVED RESULT
 - The KDE Connect menu bar icon disappears immediately.
- Running `kdeconnectd` from the terminal results in:
...
  error activating kdeconnectd:
QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown", "The name
org.kde.kdeconnect was not provided by any .service files")
  kdeconnect.interfaces: dbus interface not valid
  QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
  ```
- UDP packet errors appear in the logs:
  ```
  QAbstractSocket::DatagramTooLargeError
  Identity packet to QHostAddress("255.255.255.255") got rejected because it
was too large. Retrying without including the capabilities
  ```
EXPECTED RESULT
Clicking "Configure" should open the KDE Connect settings without crashing or
removing the menu bar icon.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: Sequoia 15.3
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Restarting `dbus` does not resolve the issue.
- Running KDE Connect with `--debug` results in `Unknown option 'debug'`.
- KDE Connect worked inconsistently but never maintained persistent
functionality.
2025-03-01 Thread Sergio
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500584
--- Comment #9 from Sergio  ---
Obviously, another possibility is that you do not see the issue in debian
because debian might still be at plasma 5. So it may be the case that a bug in
Qt5 is only triggered on the latest Kwin and not in the Kwin that was shipped
in plasma5.
Thanks a lot, that worked for me too - another Tumbleweed user, who happens to
try & grab photos from his phone once every six months, and finds himself this
morning staring at
> org.kde.applets.devicenotifier: DeviceServiceAction::execute:
> "/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:02.1/:16:00.0/usb1/1-3"
when hitting "Open in File Manager", mumbling "pretty sure this used to work",
and second-guessing every fuse/kio/mtp-adjacent package & service on his
system.
(Apologies if this is a low-signal comment; meant to thank the OP for the
workaround, and figured it would not hurt to post that journalctl line: it was
the only smoking gun I could see debugging this)
2025-03-01 Thread Sergio
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500584
--- Comment #10 from Sergio  ---
Update: some more tests have been carried out by a LibO user/developer that is
on debian testing.
The issue of LibO menus getting a window title when on the Qt5 or kf5 VCL is
not present in debian testing even on Plasma6 and in other window managers.
Looking into this would be precious since even if plasma has migrated to Qt6,
there is still a huge amount of software that is Qt5.
Libreoffice itself is trying to move to Qt6 for its Qt VCLs, but its official
upstream binaries are still Qt5 only.
