Git commit 7fd7143bc958e9441e99930dc7e0ba9bd0f70faf by Kai Uwe Broulik.
Committed on 12/02/2025 at 06:57.

eventpluginsmanager: don't crash on double-delete of plugin objects

The Qt docs command no deletes!

> Don't try to delete the root component. Instead rely on that unload()
will automatically delete it when needed.

and

> When the library is finally unloaded, the root component will
automatically be deleted.

consequently don't delete the root component and then crash when a
double delete occurs. This notably seems easy to produce with multiple
clocks that have events plugins loaded.

Can't reproduce on Plasma master, though I don't have a display with adaptive
sync/ VRR.

Have you tried enabling the "Show FPS" desktop effect, to see if this also
shows that the frame rate is dropping when using the Application Dashboard?

Providing detailed information about your graphics hardware, distro and whether
you use the Wayland or the X11 session could also be helpful.

Exactly! Same perception: colorful much easier and faster to find: for example
by color, then by shape. With symbolic: need to watch all of them to
distinguish the necessary one only by its shape.

Bug ID: 499867
   Summary: Neochat snap fails to start. Error: `GLIBCXX_3.4.32'
not found
Classification: Applications
   Product: NeoChat
   Version: 24.12.0
  Platform: Snap
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: fe...@posteo.de
  Reporter: kde.isolating...@8shield.net
CC: c...@carlschwan.eu, j...@redstrate.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a fresh install of Neochat on Kubntu 24.10. If I launch Neochat from the
application launcher it briefly appears in the taskbar and then disappears.

If I launch Neochat from the command line I get this error:

/snap/neochat/75/usr/bin/neochat: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version
`GLIBCXX_3.4.32' not found (required by /snap/neochat/75/usr/bin/neochat)

I have run "snap remove neochat --purge" and reinstalled neochat from scratch.

Regards.

That white Oxygen symbolic version was much better than today's ugly black

all to be colorful.

In kirigami we check scroll event input device type (wasTouch) by checking if
angledelta is multiple of 120. By default it is, but maybe adjusting scroll
speed makes it not.

Example of two folders with previews, one large, one small

SUMMARY
The icons of some folders with previews are generated with a very small
folder icon, but not all. On normal icons this is less of an issue but I
think it happens there too
Additionally if there are multiple pages of previews the first is usually
very small while subsequent ones are usually normal sized.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter icon view mode
2. Enable previews for folders
3. Hover over folder with multiple previewable items

OBSERVED RESULT
Some folder icons are tiny, others normal

EXPECTED RESULT
All folder icons are the same size, even if the preview on them is small

Sorry for my wrong reply. I have misunderstood you. For me dolphin's smooth
scrolling animation is also quite faster than kirigami's. In kirigami we use

The idea is that you can use a wildcard to apply that LSP server to all the
filetypes.

For example https://github.com/SilasMarvin/lsp-ai and also
https://github.com/tekumara/typos-lsp (I already use it on nvim).

Screenshot of `org.kde.plasma.clipboard` in 6.3.0 (for `#c0`).

SUMMARY
---

`plasmawindowed` does not pad window toolbars.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
--

1.  ~~~sh
#!/usr/bin/env sh
plasmawindowed org.kde.plasma.volume
~~~
OBSERVED RESULT
---
The right-most button isn't padded. Though, the left *appears to be*
(although it's not a `QToolButton`, so perhaps *that*'s the reason).
2.  ~~~sh
#!/usr/bin/env sh
plasmawindowed org.kde.plasma.clipboard
~~~

OBSERVED RESULT
---

Neither the left nor right buttons are padded.

EXPECTED RESULT
---

[`id=499154#c9`][1] recommends a `smallSpacing`.

2025-02-12 Thread fililip
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499871

Bug ID: 499871
   Summary: Changing months too fast leads to a re-triggered
animation but no month change
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.3.0
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Calendar widget
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: t...@nitrosubs.live
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Changing months too fast leads to a re-triggered animation but no month change.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open up the Calendar widget
2. Try to go back a few months by pressing the left/right button very fast

OBSERVED RESULT
The month does not change; the animation simply replays again and again

EXPECTED RESULT
Animations should not affect the currently displayed month value (maybe it'd be
good to temporarily disable them for changes that are too fast and re-enable
them when they are slow enough?)

2025-02-12 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 499876
   Summary: Calendar desktop widget not showing any events
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 6.2.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Calendar widget
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: sakage.f...@gmx.net
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
As the title suggests, the calendar widget does not show any events.
kdepim-addons is installed and the panel widget does show events, just the
desktop one doesn't. It also doesn't have any option for showing calendar
events like the panel widget.
Doesn't matter if the event is on external calendar or on device.
I can't imagine just showing the plain days is all the widget is supposed to
do...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up calendar and create event
2. Create desktop calendar widget

OBSERVED RESULT
No events show in widget

EXPECTED RESULT
Events DO show in widget

Maybe it's logind? kwin uses it to open device files that require special

Well.. if there is no bomb... why showing a bomb? Even if it has a cross on it.
The official minesweeper game does this better, see attached image. I flagged a
cell as a bomb and then clicked the bomb, here it was clear that I marked the
wrong cell.

Perhaps it's relevant that another bug with this error is caused by running the
Kicker plasmoid windowed - it renders its custom-drawn context menus in the
wrong location:

1.  ~~~sh
#!/usr/bin/env sh
plasmawindowed org.kde.plasma.kicker
~~~
2.  > ~~~YAML
> kf.plasma.quick: Applet preload policy set to 1
ItemListDialog_QMLTYPE_55(0x563cfad71260)
> qt.qpa.wayland: eglSwapBuffers failed with 0x300d, surface: 0x0
> ~~~
Is that more reproducible? If it's utterly irrelevant, apologies. I've
mentioned this because I suspect the problem may be of a broader scope than
merely Wine.
> What I suspect is that something in the window rules is conflicting with
> something else.
I've got the undermentioned `.KWinRules` set:
~~~desktop

...though `noborderrule` doesn't work under Wayland.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499741

--- Comment #6 from Martin Koller  ---
Never used Debian before, so I'm not familiar with their releases. But reading
online I find
"Unstable in Debian can be considered something that is in constant
development, so it is Rolling Development and not Rolling Release. In Debian
Unstable there is no promise that it will be ready for use. "

So I ask myself: can this be the reason why something is broken?

Have you maybe another system based on any stable distribution, where you could
check if this problem exists there, too?

I'm using openSuse Leap 15.5 (older kbackup 22.12.3) or Tumbleweed (20250209
with kbackup 24.12.2) and can not see this problem.

2025-02-12 Thread jimbo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499865

Bug ID: 499865
   Summary: Kate will crash if accessing a text file on the
network and the network goes down
Classification: Applications
   Product: kate
   Version: 24.08.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: loudsq...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

So I've run into this issue more than once with Kate, and it's very
frustrating.

I've been testing a program that requires me to disable the internet connection
on my computer. I run the program with the network card disabled, and then I
re-enable it and run the program again.

During this time Kate is open and I have text files in it that are open on the
network. The issue isn't instantaneous, it does take a while before Kate will
crash.

Initially I just thought it was a once-off but it happened regularly enough
during my program test that I had to save the files I needed on the desktop (I
lost some rough notes that weren't saved during the crash too). I appreciate
that this is an edge-case but Kate should at least handle this scenario
gracefully as network outages can occur.

Ideally if the network connection drops, it shouldn't bother Kate until a save
is attempted at which point Kate should tell the user the network is down and
give them the chance to save locally. I know that Kate does make temporary
saves, maybe that's the trigger for this?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a text file on a network share, or network drive
2. Open it with Kate
3. Disable your network card
4. (You may need to make saves prior to disabling, I'm not sure the exact
process, but it does happen)
5. Do some other work and wait for Kate to crash

OBSERVED RESULT
If left alone, Kate will eventually crash

EXPECTED RESULT
The network being down shouldn't affect Kate at all

[plasmashell] [Bug 499881] New: Mouse scrolling too fast and inconsistent

2025-02-12 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499881

Bug ID: 499881
   Summary: Mouse scrolling too fast and inconsistent
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: git-stable-Plasma/6.2
  Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: fbleichr...@gmail.com
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
The mouse wheel scrolls a lot further per click compared to gnome with wayland
(around 5 lines vs 3 lines). Qt apps like dolphin do seem to scroll the correct
amount, but not in Firefox of Chrome. When on gnome, all apps scroll a similar
amount. Reducing the scoll speed makes the scroll amount good for chrome, but
way too slow for qt apps like dolphin. This is inconsistent behavior. Also, my
two mouses scroll a different amount for 1 click of the mouse wheel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Scroll in chrome, scroll in dolphin.

OBSERVED RESULT
Scroll amount is inconsistent, too much.

EXPECTED RESULT
Scroll behavior should be exactly the same as in gnome 3 with wayland (since
both use libinput) for any app independent of the framework used, qt/gtk etc.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma:  Arch linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2

I had a thought as we have Ubuntu/Kubuntu as thin clients in our offices.

The layout should respect that last user's layout because each person's
preferred layout is different from the other (i.e. one may prefer 1 portrait
monitor and 1 landscape, while the other might prefer a stacking layout instead
of side-by-side).

If the monitor's placement doesn't reflect SDDM, it will just provide confusion
to users

   Product: digikam
   Version: 8.5.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Gps
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: cinial...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I inserted geotag information in the file with an external software but digikam
still say there is no geotag information.
Update all metadata information from file would require too much time. Is it
not possible to refresh digikam information just for the file I changed?
