[digikam] [Bug 499273] Problem with Thumbnails and metedata, tags
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499273 --- Comment #5 from AlanB --- Hi Maik,Thank you When I look at the file in File Explorer it shows a size of 41779kB as do most of the other files that I can't open. After the initial problem with the files caused by the transfer from one drive to another the problem now seems to be something to do with the (my) settings for the metadata, xmp files , Exif tool.I asked a friend who has Adobe bridge/ACR to have a look at the files that open OK but take forever to show the thumbnails in digikam and some of the files have the same problem as in digikam, i.e the thumbnail doesn't show but the preview does. Those particular files won't open in ACR but will still open in digiKam editor and Affinity.I have digikam set to read from xmp files, to use xmp files that can be read by other software and metadata to be written to dng files and xmp.Until recently I have never had any problem with this and now the problems only occur on the files I moved. One question, If I use a later version of EXIF tool than the one that comes with digikam, that wouldn't cause a problem would it? I use a few older lenses that aren't recognised by my camera so I use EXIF tool GUI to write the lens details to the metadata and have done so for several years with few problems. The version I use is 13.10. Another thing I have noticed is that some files that had the thumbnails greyed or partially grey out when converted to tiff format show immediately whereas the dng files do not. My next step would seem to be to convert all the files in the affected albums to Tiff and see if that solves the problem.I've tried using a proprietary file repair app on some of the corrupt files but with no success.Thank you again, I'll let you know if changing the format where I'm able gets round the problem. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499236 --- Comment #33 from Jean-Baptiste Mardelle --- The thing is that in your DebugView startup log, you have 130 lines like: plugin not available: "avfilter.aecho" Normally, you should only have like 29 lines of it, because some avfilters are not supported. This means that MLT cannot correctly load the avformat module (its module interfacing with FFmpeg). So I agree that the issue is probably not related to your video files, but there is something on your system that prevents MLT to correctly communicate with FFmpeg. Comparing the 23.x with 24.x installs, I found a difference in the way MLT libraries are installed. In 23.08, the 2 MLT libraries libmlt-7.dll and libmlt++-7.dll were in 2 locations: C:\Program Files\kdenlive\bin and C:\Program Files\kdenlive\lib In Kdenlive 24.x, these 2 libraries are only in: C:\Program Files\kdenlive\bin Could you try with a Kdenlive 24.12 install to copy these 2 libraries from C:\Program Files\kdenlive\bin to C:\Program Files\kdenlive\lib and check if it makes a difference ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499236 --- Comment #26 from Rohit Banerjee --- I understand the frustration, I also come from a software development background and can appreciate the efforts to investigate the bug. However, I believe we are veering away from the actual problem at hand, which has nothing to do with user accounts, folder permissions, or environment variables. As I have mentioned at least twice now, the issue is with the file loading, since there is an observable defect not just in the new projects being unable to load video files, but also with already prior projects successfully edited on previous version, which now display INVALID on the new version, on both Clip Monitor and the Project Monitor. A code review on the relevant module(s) can perhaps shed more light. Since I practice and teach management as well, I'm reminded of the Vanilla Icecream story (https://kepner-tregoe.com/blogs/help-my-car-is-allergic-to-vanilla-ice-cream-a-study-in-problem-solving/), in this issue's case. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Give ActionButton text more horizontal space Right now ActionButtons are rather narrow, with spacing that's inconsistent (narrow for lock+login screens, wide for logout screen). Let's unify on narrow spacing, but expand the width of the buttons a bit to provide more room for text. This results in almost the same spacing visually, but increases buttons' hitboxes and makes them less likely to have to display text in multi-line form. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 499360] In the core file menus I would like a setting to remove spaces from filenames when saving them
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499360 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Product|kde |frameworks-kio Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL CC||kdelibs-b...@kde.org, ||n...@kde.org Component|general |Open/save dialogs Assignee|unassigned-b...@kde.org |kio-bugs-n...@kde.org --- Comment #1 from Nate Graham --- I can understand the frustration here, and it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if this is something that would really resolve the issue for you. Even if we implemented an option in the KDE save dialogs to swap out spaces for underscores or something, loads of apps don't use the KDE save dialog, and there are also many ways to get files from other people that bypass any save dialog, including some of the most common ones such as web browsers and desktop email clients. So it's very likely that most of the offending files you receive from others would not go through the feature.
