Re: [JPP-Devel] Weekly Build Disconintued

2008-03-25 Thread Giuseppe Aruta
Hi,
that's right! I imaged the problem was the version of Java (I was using 1.6
instead of 1.5). I changed the Java version and it worked fine.

I gave a look to the new version (march 24th). I have a couple of proposals.

  1) Since many files seems not changed (I think so) during the migration of
versions (eg.postgresql-8.1-407.jdbc3.jar) we can distribute as NB only the
files which had a change together with a txt file which explain how to
construct the most recent OJ NB working. This save space on the web.

  2) Good work Stefan to add cut cookie polygon on the editing toolbox. I image
that Union-lines, Union 2 polygons and Larry's cut polygons could have an icon
and stay on the Editing toolbox instead on the Tools menu

  3) In the Editing toool box the "Draw contrained polygon and draw constrained
linestring" seems to do basically the same thing od original "Draw polygon" and
"Draw linestring". The usage of keyboard keys help to work on
Constrained/Unconstrained mode. The only difference is that original "draw
polygon" has an option to draw holes which draw const. pol. doesn't have. But
now, thanks to Erwan's cut cookie polygon it is not necessary to have the
double of the same drawing tools on the toolbox. I image there is a problem
with the compatibility of OJ with original Jump soft. I propone, if there is
no need to have double tools and there is no need to save compatibility, to
eliminate original "draw polygon" and "draw linestring" to make the toolbox
more flexible. I would like to have Laqrry's idea about since he has already
done this work on SkyJUMP.

  4) Andrea worked on 2 interesting tools: "Importing SLD" on File menu and
"Transform Layer Style into SLD". I think if this could be a good opportunity
to work around on a import/export style file between different layers in OJ.
Anyhow the 2 SLD menu could be better together on Layer menu?

  Regards

  Peppe

Hi London,
I think that the break of comunication in these days regarding Kosmo-OpenJUMP
common project was due to East holidays. And also because Antonio Muñoz

wait a couple of days.
BTW Kosmo put on their web site some manuals about Kopsmo and how to develop
extensions (Kosmo_manual_desarrollador.pdf and Kosmo_manual_extensiones.pdf).

Re: [JPP-Devel] Kosmo and OpenJUMP common area of interests

2008-03-25 Thread Giuseppe Aruta
Hi Antonio,
let me resume the two i(my) proposal that could be object of this
discussion:. Just in order that developers can have an idea (from user point of
view).

  1) a "save as" to project file format shared by two software. This format
(Jump, Kosmo or other) would not be alterate by saving option. eg. If I create
a project in Kosmo with hyperlink or advanced style, when I open this project
in OJ (which hasn't hyperlink or advanced style), modify something and save
again to the project file, this doesn't alterate Kosmo's functionalities
(hyperlink etc.)

  2) Possibility that Kosmo and OpenJUMP would save the layer style to the same
file type. Actually Kosmo saves to an its own style files (SLS) format and to
SLD for web proposal. OpenJUMP doesn't have a save style file but newer Nightly
build allows to export/import to SLD.
The proposal is omologate the two SLD projects to let talk each other (I did
a test and OJ doesn't import Kosmo SLD files) not only for web but also to
exchange basic layer styles parametres (Colours of line, vertices and polygons,
line width - possibily line type and simple poligon fill)

I invite the other OpenJUMP developers to say their idea about.

  Best regards
  Peppe

I'm good with any suggestion on where to put the tool. I'm not sure where such a

I don't see the need for this, it would be a complicated process to
setup and to ensure that all the right files are distributed. I know
this cause I have to do it for one of my clients projects and it causes
a lot of problems. Also doing it that way means a user would have to
download all the patches to get the latest version which may not be
possible if say their last nightly build download was from 20 days ago.

The build is setup to only keep a certain number of previous builds so
it won't take up too much disk space.

For users who don't want to have to download too much in one go they can
just use SVN to get the source and then do mvn install to compile their
own version.

Re: [JPP-Devel] Weekly Build Disconintued

2008-03-25 Thread Stefan Steiniger
Peppe,

could you add your GUI improvement proposals (2 & 3) to the usability
and translation improvement tracker
(http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=118054&atid=997723) and the
todo-before-shipping list on the wiki?

thanx,
stefan

[JPP-Devel] question to Paul on placement of mrsid files in windows

2008-03-25 Thread Stefan Steiniger
Hei Paul,

I tried to figure out how the mrsid file format is offered. After
renaming existing mr-sid exe files to mrsidgeoinfo.exe and
mrsidgeodecode.exe I did two different tests:

a) Eclipse: I droped them in the plugin directory and defined the
plugin-folder
result: OJ starts without recognizing the files

b) Nightly Build: I created an /ext/ directory under /lib/ and placed
both files there.
result: OJ shows the splash screen and freezes. Unfortunately I have no
idea to figure out what happens (i.e. no debugging option)

Can you give any advise? Have you tried on your computer if MrSID is loaded?

cheers from Rockies
Stefan

PS: I recognized that you replaced in the NB the batik-all with the
single libraries. Has this any specific reason? (however, there is no
need to change the NB ;)
