This is now done on 3.6.0 and 4.0.1 by leveraging the HttpClient classes built 
into the JDK.   Updates to optionally use Http Components can be done for a 
future version.

Hi [~dkulp] , if you don't mind, I will reopen this one, I have the pull 
request ready for next release. The HttpClient  definitely works, but not for 
3.5.x / 3.6.x, I will create a dedicated issue for HttpClient implementation 
that you've merged. Thank you.
