What's wrongwith running a 3270 client in an encrypted VPN?

A VPN does not encrypt your traffic other than between the VPN endpoints.

In most implementations, VPN is used to cross the public Internet only.

Once the traffic hits the edge of the target network, the encryption
disappears.

Current paradigm is "trust no one" or "zero trust".
How many locks must be open to get to the safe? Good one, but only one?
Another encryption is redundant, but
a) it cost close to nothing
b) in case of one lock broken there is another lock to force.

I grew up with "doss" and "see-eye-see-ess", but even here in the East I've
heard "kicks" often enough that I can adjust now if that's what the current
crowd uses. Actually I think sysprogs say "kicks" more than application
programmers, for some reason.

I've heard "sicks" just once, I believe, but I don't remember where the speaker
was from.

"Rack-eff", of course, so I guess I could excuse either "pee-rack-eff" or
"prack-eff". Dunno what it is, though.

Re: STIMERM LT value

The code shown will result in a timer pop at 11:00:00 local time.
As to when the code will get control to issue the STCKE, that is a
question of system dispatching and priorities.

>From a dump, I think you will be able to see the external interrupt clock
comparator timer pop, at whatever STCK(E) time corresponds to 11:00:00
local time.

STCKCONV does not do "local time". While it seems unlikely, if you are
finding the result off by a minute, since CVTLSO is 0's, perhaps your
timezone offset is set to 1 minute off from the number of hours you
expect. check CVTLDTO (although the system is using a different block than
that when working with timezone offset and leap seconds; the corresponding
areas are expected to match).

Hi Bob,
This reminds me of a story.
Back in 2000, I was doing an ACF2 to RACF conversion and one of the
customer's people kept saying Ra-Keff (instead of Rack-Eff.)

This REALLY got on my nerves.

As an aside, a former colleague (with a British accent) always says ZOSS
(instead of Zed-Oh-Ess or Zee-Oh-Ess).

(He's not really British.)

Have you ever heard ANYONE say IMZ (instead of Eye-Emm-Ess)?

Regards,
David
