I am very grateful for the effort the volunteers expend. I am not one of the developers, but I've been known to spend time trying to replicate bugs, which has helped John Ralls find a few bugs, including Bug #799423.

Again, I'm very grateful for all the work the volunteers put forward, and I realize that sometimes the main page is not updated as quickly as some might desire.

Which mkaes you a part of the team. Confirming bugs, and testing the
solutions are a vital part of the process of producing software.

John, thank you!

For newer listmembers who may not know: the developers are not paid.
They are all volunteers, working without monetary compensation to make
our lives and GnuCash better. We owe them a debt of gratitude that we
can never repay, but at least we can say "thank you!"

But since you are on this email list, you will be notified of updates and
can install them... that would probably work better than relying on
Microsoft.

Read John's excellent reply. Anyone can have their software distributed
through winget. It is a package manager like many others. I am a PMC
member of Apache OpenOffice® and we have our software distributed
through both the Microsoft Store and winget as well as through our own
download pages for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

[GNC] Portfolio Performance Analysis using TWR?

2024-12-06 Thread Paul Schumacher
Hi all!

I'm new to GNUCash and this list. Is there a way to calculate a
Time-weighted return (TWR) gain rate on an investment account in GNUCash?
The goal is to view the performance of a set of stocks in my investment
account, to compare with another Portfolio that uses TWR as a metric.

Thanks

Paul

[GNC] IRC #gnucash Tip Of The Day requires invite?

2024-12-06 Thread Indiana via gnucash-user
My GNC tip of the day suggest I going #gnucash at irc.gnome.org
[image.png]

Sent with [Proton Mail](https://proton.me/mail/home) secure email. When I tried
to /join #gnucash I got (Channel is invite only)

Where do I get an invite? Does the IRC channel serve a purpose different from
the mailing list?

Re: [GNC] IRC #gnucash Tip Of The Day requires invite?

2024-12-06 Thread John Ralls
Oops, that’s out of date. Irc.gnome.org used to alias irc.gimp.org
but two years ago they changed it to alias
irc.libera.chat. GnuCash’s IRC didn’t move but to keep from ending up with
separate discussions on two networks we created a channel on Libera and locked
it.

Please join us on #gnucash on irc.gimp.net .

Regards,
John Ralls
