[GNC] Fwd: Impossible to generate reports.

2019-05-20 Thread cageda
Derek

Clue, FWIW: I installed GC on another computer, V2.6.21 as it is running Vista.
The malfunction is the same.

Derek

- I have waited for 5 minutes, to no avail.
- I tried to follow the instructions. OK as far as ""Select the bottom option
'Set program access and computer defaults'".
Then comes "You are then asked to chose a configuration".That's where I become
confused (using Win10) because I don't know what I'm trying to achieve.
Configure GnuCash? It's not in the list of apps available for configuration.
Can you please clarify? Sorry to sound so dumb.

TIA

Sounds like
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_I_cannot_get_any_report_to_display_not_even_the_sample_reports._All_that_displays_is_an_empty_tab.

Have you followed those instructions?

Also, as Greg said, sometimes you have to wait a while (especially the
first time) for a report. How long have you waited for the report to
draw?

Re: [GNC] Scheduled Trans shows completed 5/8 but not in register?

2019-05-20 Thread Jack Slater
OK - Idiot alert here! When I did a search for the transaction in the
Expense account - I spotted the "missing" transaction - date
05/08/2018..NOT 2019! Of course the 2019 transaction is the item that
did not post. So now I'm telling you - via a red face - that the
transaction appears in neither account! So I'm back to square one. Shows
complete in the Scheduled Trans list but doe not appear anywhere else.
Sorry for the misleading "clue".

Since you are back to square 1, try re-reading the first. Few suggestions
we had for you to help determine if this is a bug in the current release
and how to work around the missing transaction.

Re: [GNC] Scheduled Trans shows completed 5/8 but not in register?

2019-05-20 Thread Jack Lockard
I have found this same behavior. I either go on to entering a necessary manual
transaction or closing and reopening the account and then the scheduled
transaction shows up. For whatever reason, when a scheduled transaction is
processed, the account register is not refreshed to have the transaction appear.

Re: [GNC] Scheduled Trans shows completed 5/8 but not in register?

2019-05-20 Thread David Carlson
For many years it has been my SOP to scroll through the SLR transaction
list, count the number of transactions that I expect to appear, change some
reminders to ToCreate, and set the Show created flag before triggering.

In the last 3 or 4 years I have never had one fail to appear.

The lack of auto-refresh I seem to recall is a known bug. Closing and

Not sure, but XBT is not listed as a valid ISO4217 code, so it's likely Gnucash
doesn't like it.

What would you use it for? What did you use it for last July 29th?

Bitcoin. It's available in the Android version of GnuCash.

David,

XBT is commonly used for Bitcoin.

Dragos,

Just put it in a different namespace and change the type of the asset
account(s) holding it to "stock". You'll need to do that outside of GnuCash.

You should file a bug with GnuCash-for-Android. If Ngewi wants to allow non-ISO
currency codes that's his business but he should warn that it will make the
file incompatible with GnuCash.

John Ralls

Re: [GNC] Upcoming report deprecation

2019-05-20 Thread Geert Janssens
You can choose to install the report as a custom report as explained in our
wiki:
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Custom_Reports

The whole assumption here is these reports are rarely used and unmaintained.
We don't want to completely remove them as they can serve as examples of what
can be done with the report system, but at the same time we want to remove
clutter from the menus. So they stick around as development examples, not as
ready to use reports.

Geert

IMO this is an excellent solution.

Not sure that I like this. This would probably be the same as if they
get deleted because nobody would know that these reports and this extra
switch exists.

I would just leave the examples menu visible.

Manfred
