Re: Date entry quick keys
Thanks, that does work. It's not documented in the online manual. Shifting by a a day (+ or -) or a month ([ or ]) is there, just not the shifted versions. Running balance stops working
I was just entering mutual funds into one of my accounts and the balance column now has a blank space for the last transaction (currently using version 2.6.3) I've deleted the transaction and added it again with no luck. The only thing unusual in my case is that I added a different namespace for the fund symbols because I'm not using the online tools. I just wanted to have these funds in a different namespace from "FUND". There are several hundred transactions in this account and all show a balance but as soon as I add a new one it goes blank. I also tried testing by duplicating an existing transaction which looks ok. The result is the same, a blank balance field. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: Running balance stops working
You've not mentioned the operating system you are running on, which can be helpful if other people want to try and duplicate your problem. Either way, first off, I've got lots of added namespace entries for the securities, like ETF, ESOP, etc. They are just placeholders for categorizing, they don't affect the way the individual securities are presented, to the best of my knowledge. The only time I saw weird behavior in the Balance column of an account was when I botched up the "Smallest fraction" setting for the account, within the Edit Account feature. I don't know how you would set this to result in blanks, but maybe it's possible? Also, Version 2.6.3 is rather old (circa 2014?) given the current version is 2.6.19. There have been many bug fixes in the intervening years. Maybe if what you're seeing is the result of some bug it might have been addressed already. Wishful thinking, perhaps. - Ken Farley -- Sent from: http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/GnuCash-User-f1415819.html ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: Running balance stops working
I deleted all the offending transactions and restarted Gnucash. After that it started working again. So it probably is a very subtle bug but how it gets tripped I have no clue. The OS is Win 7. I've seen this happen once before in version 2.4 but it cleared up without a restart in that case. This was the first time I saw it since upgrading from 2.4 to 2.6. I choose not to upgrade at this point because none of the bugs that have been fixed (based on what is currently published in the change logs) affects me. However, if this sudden blank running balance happens to be a side effect of a fixed bug then I would be inclined to upgrade. Given that it happens so rarely, though, I'd still rather hold off. DELETING OLD GNU CASH ACCOUNTS
Good day faithful persons, Would like to eradicate all old GnuCash accounts because they went crazy a month ago with unusual descriptions in description spaces. I had done a restore on system on my Windows 7 OS to cause this it seems. Now getting all files connected deleted an installing the program again may solve problem. Never could back up files on external hard drive either. Obviously doing something wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. Removed program from PC and reinstalled but same corrupted files open up in newly installed GNUCASH program. thank you and God Bless leema...@midrivers.com ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Can anyone else reproduce this behavior?
I’m running GnuCash on an iMac running High Sierra. I access it from a Mac Book, also running High Sierra, using Apple’s Screen Sharing. All software is up to date. When working in GnuCash remotely this way, I’m unable to activate any buttons within the GnuCash interface. When I move the cursor over the buttons, they highlight normally, but clicking does nothing. However, I can click on menus and select operations that way without problem. I’ve been unable to reproduce the problem with any Apple native applications. This problem did not exist when both machines were running El Capitan. I don’t know if the problem is with GnuCash or Apple’s software. First, I’d like to find out if anyone else can reproduce the behavior I’ve described. ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. Re: DELETING OLD GNU CASH ACCOUNTS
The program only shows the contents of whatever data file that you open with it. If the data appears to be corrupted, that may be a problem with the data file. However, it is possible that certain settings will make it appear that the data is corrupted. One is the LOCALE setting in the Windows 7 environment. Users normally know about this if they reside outside of the US in a non-English speaking country. If you have backups of your data from before the problem appeared you can check them to see if they also appear to be corrupted. If the data files actually are corrupted, it is highly unlikely that GnuCash would be able to open them. GnuCash > 2.6.16 Reports crashing
I am currently using ver. 2.6.12 and decided to upgrade to 2.6.19 on Win 10 Pro (fully updated). When I use any version greater than 2.6.16 and try to generate any report, the program crashes. Ver 2.6.16 and back down to 2.6.12 work perfectly. Not certain if this is correct but I found a trace report in \user\app data\local\temp\gnucash.trace.M3PICZ.log with the following line "* 18:31:13 WARN Could not spawn perl: Failed to execute child process (No such file or directory) ". Can someone please point me towards possible fixes. Yes, I have tried searching throughout the mail list and elsewhere but have not found a solution. thanks ...
