Re: Schwab shows no tranactions

2017-12-23 Thread Steve
I've only used Gnucash and aqbanking module for Schwab Bank downloads which
has always worked great.

For some reason I've long since forgotten, I thought it didn't work with the
brokerage side. Guess I'm wrong? I did start to fool with it, but is
https://ofx.schwab.com/cgi_dev/ofx_server correct? Thought I read in the
documentation somewhere that someone said that was a phishing link???

Unrealized Gains and Closing Books

2017-12-23 Thread ticotexas
I'm preparing for my first year-end closing since starting my use of gnucash.
I understand the method of zeroing expenses and income by transferring to
equity accounts like 2017 Expenses and 2017 Income. Is there also any
similar method to zero Unrealized Gains (that appears on the balance sheet)
to equity? I am thinking it would be nice to start Unrealized Gains at zero
at the new year. I would like to have equity accounts of 2017 Unrealized
Gains, 2018 UG, 2019, etc. as a way to see how my investments grew or lost
every year. Is that possible?

Security Editor

2017-12-23 Thread Carlos A. Garcia

Dears,

i tried to change to "APHAVANTAGE" in security editor as was indicate:

Using the Security Editor in GnuCash edit every security with Get Online
Quotes enabled that uses a Yahoo! source and either disable Get Online
Quotes or change the the type of quote source to "Unkown" and the source
to "alphavantage"

After change and accept, the Security Editor return to "Currency"

I tried open GNC with sudo and was the same.

Any idea?

I just want to point out that with current 2.6.x version of gnucash
one’? not able to associate a file to a transaction generated with the
business module (Bug 780112).

Does this mean this is getting fixed for the next release?

However not being able to modify the transaction doesn’t sound good to me.

The currency backend has already been changed from Yahoo! to Alphavantage so
you don't need to change any currencies. You do need to change any non-currency
commodities that use any of the Yahoo! variants except Yahoo-JSON.

but after a few hickups https://www.treasurydirect.gov/ returns their
start page
and https://www.treasurydirect.gov/BC/SBCPrice/ returns:

"We're sorry...
We may have moved or retired the web page.
You may want to:

Check the spelling of the URL to make sure its correct.
Use our search function.
Use our sitemap or other links on this page."

So now it is up to you to find that page again.

Re: Has the Treasury Direct interface changed?

2017-12-23 Thread farleykj
Hi Frank.

I substituted the definition of the URL with the following

my $urlSite  = "https://www.treasurydirect.gov/"; ;

But I still get the same message about the connection being refused. Going
by the normal browser activity, I can get to the ..BC/SBCPrice page and get
prices, etc. It just seems that Perl inquiries via LWP::UserAgent and
LWP::Simple are blocked or otherwise ignored.

It's not like I need to update prices every day, given that pricing on EE
bonds changes at most monthly. It's just that it was nice to not have to
deal with any manual entries.

They do have a documented API

https://www.treasurydirect.gov/webapis/webapisindex.htm

So maybe someone decided automated requests should go through the API instead
of parsing screen data returned from artificially filling forms.

I don’t know enough about JSON or other REST things to tell how hard it would
be to repurpose older query routines.

The API is documented, but again, attempts to communicate with it yield the
same message:

Can't connect to www.treasurydirect.gov:80 (Connection refused)

It just seems that the site doesn't want to accept any communications. I'd
be interested if someone else was able to get anything out of the site using
any of these URLs.
